Wow, I knew it was bad, but I didn't realize how bad. The entertainment industry and the fans in Korea have a strangle hold on these artists. It isn't right. Here in the US the celebrities are the first to come out during elections and give money, support, make commercials, etc. for the candidates and views they support. And not being able to date is really isolating and just psychologically unhealthy.

A country noted as being kind and considerate and yet, many times interfering with other people's lives. ie: If a celebrity wants to date, then date. No fan or any other individual has a right to prompt hate or disapproval towards them or demand apologies. Companies of these celebrities don't seem to be any better when demanding that celebs not have relationships. They are human. It most certainly is not a scandal or controversy to date, breakup, marry or divorce. These are common things that happen to many around the world, non-celebs and celebrities. This country really needs to get a grip on the real world.

I have just watched this video. I am a huge fan of kdramas & kpop. I am even study the Korean language because I'm so crazy about it. I knew they have to follow strict certain rules but it is just too much. They are humans like any other people with emotions & failures. Because of the huge pressure they have to endure it is why so much of them suffer & die at a young age. Just a few weeks ago it showed again how much pressure they suffer & go into depression when 25 year old Moonbin bless his beautiful soul (RIP) was taken from us. The Korean people & the entertainment industry should appreciate the sacrifices these people make. The fans should also be more appreciative and stop the spreading of false rumors on social media & stop being so mean & criticism. To me the actors, actresses & pop idols are amazing they, they make my world happy whether it is a movie, series or singing. I just love them irrespective of whatever they do.❤❤❤❤

It’s a shame, there’s so many rules these actors and K-pop artists has to follow. Yet there’s no help for them when they suffer from depression or mental health problems. Maybe if the industry relax the rules a little, there will be less pressure on these artists and may help them from committing suicide. To live their dream they have to give up so much.

I personally find being super thin very unappealing. Some of these male actors look like they could break. I just really don't understand the 'starvation' standard but have noticed that in Asian cultures (not so much for Japan) 'Stick Thin' is what is pushed.
BTS, for example, when they were younger they looked so frail to me. I always wondered how they didn't pass out on stage. Doing the types of performance they do, for HOURS - man, you need to eat something for christ's sake. I read recently that Tae has a 25" waist. It was in reference to him being able to easily fit Celine's clothes. That even the highest paid models have a difficult time fitting her sample sizes.

Who are we (fans or the public) to impose on those great talented beings, a doctrine that in inhuman?? There seem to be a belief in S.Korea that celebrities should be perfect. Well, since there are automatically shadows as soon as the sun shines, there will be sides to them that won't be perfect as they MUST SHOW a perfect side of themselves in public and that being said, it is perfectly imperfect that way. So people, just let them be...❤humans, like you, outside the set/stage.

The rules seem like it will cost the industry new actors or actresses in the future as society is constantly changing. I do understand that it's more protecting the image of the company then the individual but that's a standard in the culture. If a company came in with better rules they would probably take the top names over night. The only issue I have is they us the word scandal for even little small things making it sound like a big deal, when it not even close to what some higher up people and companies get away with.

Just goes to show theses people will do anything to make more money and make such a disgusting habit look acceptable! I’m sure these rules are taken as gospel, but when you have Kim So Hyun giving interviews about dating and say she doesn’t need to date, that hilarious because nobody NEEDS to date, that’s not the point, people date because they WANT to. This statement made me realise her immaturity as a person as she’s still young now. Best of luck to her but she’ll soon grow up and change her mind!

It's a fucked up thing. I feel bad for celebs sometimes. But then others I'm like... Well, they want the fame and the fortune. The fuckers who make the rules about what you have to sacrifice to get that, will never change them[the rules]. They are too happy treating everyone who doesn't fit their boxes like shit. (shrugs)

All while they studio executives, managers, and everyone involved behind the scenes practice the exact opposite of what they enforce on the people out front. The hypocrisy is truly laughable. “Don’t date.”, while they are married with children or running behind the actors and actresses that work for them and so on. Let’s not even get into the “beauty standards”. It’s not surprising that we see and hear about some many of their entertainers having mental breakdowns and unfortunately taking their lives. The surprise is that they aren’t changing how they treat their entertainers when they clearly see why they are having issues just like we outsiders looking in see problem. I also cannot understand why they let the fans control the celebrities lives. That wouldn’t happen in America.

    in my country (+62):
    1. monitoring weight = none.. because the weight matters is a factor for celebs to get famous..
    2. public behave = some of them did, some of them just do whatever they want..
    3. dating = none.. even an "on scene" couple keep making public appearance with their "fake" relationship to get rating for their job and their next job..
    4. drug = none.. many celebs here use drugs, caught, going to jail, released, and back to their job without losing anything..
    5. scandal = none.. many celebs here involved with scandal, and a simple apology on news/tv sets everything back to normal without consequences..
    6. political stance = none.. many celebs here are making money with political issues/stances, mostly when election period begins..

Thank you for this info. it is so interesting to hear how other cultures are in their daily lives. Most of these rules I don't feel are to extreme. They knew what they were getting when they got into the industry of acting, modeling or being an idol. I think being accountable for ones actions is great. I once viewed it differently like school bullying but now being the state our world is with all the violence in America I feel maybe if we were to make everyone accountable for their actions regardless of age we would see less violence. But since we are so big and sit in our ways I don't see that changing. I understand the weight issue. It should not be an issue but fans do love to see a more perfect person on screen. That is our world sad as it is. It shouldn't be about appearance but it is, even off screen. A person with more weight is more likely to be ignored or dis respected than someone of outside beauty. this is every where around the world. My parents always told me never to date someone you work with, I am sure that being in the public eye it is even more so. I know it is hard because I dated and married my current husband and when you disagree it is hard for it not to spill over into your work life. But I understand how if 2 main characters are in a romantic movie or series how they can get confused with their feelings. I applaud all actors because you have to departmentalize your acting skills from your real life and can imagine how easily the lines could get crossed. It would mess my mind up. LOL

I always thought that ahn jae hyun was the reason for their divorce... I only found out the truth in this video and I really didn't expect that kind of behavior from goo hye sun... I was sad for both of them the moment I heard about the news and I even pitied goo hye sun. But now that I know the truth, it feels like I regretted pitying for the reason that she does not deserve my pity.... I don't know their whole story and what pushed her or caused her to act like that but it's still unjustifiable.

I think all foreign countries treat celebrities as humans too, unlike in Korea where actors/actresses/idols seem to be treated as robots, as if Angels from Heaven who are supposed to be perfect in every way. 😅 Well, guess what, you are violating these peoples rights to life, liberty, and happiness. Korean Celebrities shld.exercise their rights, and sue those detractors and companies who give them a hard time instead. Dont you think so?

I'm not sure I have the right to say anything about the rules. I'm a sentient being and should be treated as such. I, also, work the election polls during election periods. Personally, I don't care who you vote for (though I have my preferences) so long as you vote. If you vote then you should have the right to have your voice heard when something is not right. Politicians, in an ideal society, are there to work for the people that have voted for them and not for their own gain.
Sadly, bullying is worldwide. I was a target of bullies at every school I went to. Yes, I have mental issues because of it. I pray that they have grown out of their small-minds and have experienced enough of the world to have grown as an individual. My main bully showed true remorse and apologized. I forgave him because it was the right thing to do (in my heart) and I figured that he realized that he was no one to bully another.
One day, I hope, people will be allowed to be who they are without being abused or bullied. Until then ...

7:39 it annoys me to no end when celebs use their public platform to lecture us about political or social issues. Once they voice their opinion and try to intimidate government with their star status, I boycott them.

😂😂 their rules are so torturing. What's the use of teaching others to be respectfull if you who teach is so disrespectfull. The higher ups in this country wants to control those lower than them. No wonder that a lot of their people, suicide is their final option to flee fr those who controls them. If you are weak and less fortunate in this country your life will be in turmoil.

Korean society is so restrictive and rules bound, people don’t dare step outside the box for fearing to be labeled as being different. There’s no room for voicing opinions or being spontaneous.
It’s just bizarre how backward it is socially compared to other modern countries especially western societies. From their obsession with ‘age’ with all their rules based on seniority rather than ability to their prudish judgement mental attitude to sexuality.
Westerners make the mistake of thinking that life in Korea is like their Kdramas when in fact the reality is very different especially in regards to women. It’s also a very appearance based society as well, that’s why it has one of the highest rates of plastic surgery in the world.
Their Kpop world is also disturbing as well, the fact that idols are not just singers but are also on permanent reality TV shows which is just incomprehensible. This doesn’t happen to singers, musicians and artists in Western countries, they’re free to pursue their music rather than having to make reality episode content to entertain fans and to make money for their companies and advertisers as part of their contracts.
