My mechanic wants to pull the shaft from the hub-bearing. Is this necessary?

No but if it comes out easy it’s not much more time. Literally one more bolt.

@@crazyricha9784 He did report a trace of noise in that wheel bearing several months back. If he's replacing a rear axle shaft seal can a new hub-bearing go along with the seal replace?
