  • First of all apologies about the shaky camera work.
I would also like to address the fact that I have not explained anything about the new modifications apart from merely stating it had new wheels plus a few other bits, so I will make another video 7 part A.
It was a rushed video as I had a limited amount of time with the battery of my camera vs. the closing time of Quainton.
Well I hope you guys can still enjoy this and please stay tuned as more is coming soon

Narcis Mateescu Thank you, its taken a lot of time, trial and error (plus many cuts and bruises) to get it to where it is, and still lots more to do.
There is plenty of stock which I can sit on at the club, and I usually use the driving trolly seen at the beginning of the video, but the club was closing and everything had been locked away, so at the end of the video I did not have access to the trolley.
I will take a look. Its a very simple and effective way of powering something like this with minimal mechanical linkages and no gearbox, unlike some of the more complex machines which use a much higher level of engineering.

looks nice! easy way to reverse it is just reverse pos and minus on the motor (being permanent magnet motors) or otherwise iff not, reverse the brush polarity.

put a cheap PWM (ebay has a lot of this). Then you will have reverse, neutral and can improve torque at low speeds. I did something similar to an ebike. You can even remove the clutch. Without the cluch you can start the engine with a small battery (and remove the big manual start)

Did you ever found the time in your full schedule to finish working on it, and do you still have it?

What kind of generator are you using? I cannot seem to find one.

Thank you, there more coming where that came from, and I am hopefully investing in a nice tripod and camera, so better quality videos as well. Have you check out my channel for other engineering pieces? Anton

Really nice ! I have a similar propulsion system on my garden tractor and on a platform truck, check out my channel :). I suggest you build a small cart and tow it with the locomotive, so you don't have to run alongside it or sit on top of it :).
