Genshin Impact Version 4.1 is finally out and Neuvillette is bringing with him a very interesting playstyle along with the status of being the first true Hydro hypercarry in the game! We're gonna look at his design and concept to see how well Mihoyo constructed him, and what his gameplay entails for Version 4 going forward.

It's so funny how hard Genshin players try to apologize for a fictional character's name being said incorrectly, it's pixels bro, relax. Even in game voice acting butchers names all the time, lots of inconsistency.
@@hayden6383 It's not about the game necessarily, I like and respect other languages and I do my best to pronounce things best I can no matter if it's a game, anime or irl. This is why I also respect Vars since he does a great job at this, unlike some creators who play this game for a living and still can't say "Ayaka" lol

Though I'm primarily learning Japanese.
I do like how his A1 basically just tells you "yeah just put in the best units of each element and have whatever reaction happen"
They forgot this was a team-based game and had to come up with something quick for a character who is perfectly sufficient on his own 😭

Indeed. Though his C1 has a pretty substantial effect for their synergy together, which might drag it down a bit. I hope to snag his C1 when he rerun, though I'll leave the final decision for after we see how well they'll work together.
Yeah, I read somewhere that Neuv's charged attack can help Furina gain stacks faster because he drains and heals his own HP quickly.

decided I will eventually get neuv, so I went to grab both homa and tome of eternal flow, since the characters are much easier to gurantee than weapons (and weapon banners are usually ass)

My dream team and purpose for playing this game is ayaka perma freeze so I'll be aiming for those 4 next, deciding if banner is worth pulling if the accompanying weapons are terrible (like donuts)
I'm really glad he turned out great. The one thing that will never sits right with me is how Gacha Games seems to have tendencies to make Lorewise ones weak in gameplay and vice versa. (Looking at you Hu Tao)

I'm not gonna use spoilers but if you want more details; a part of the leak community is currently shitting on her because we haven't figured out how to maximize her full potential hence she doenst do a Gazillion DMG per second. Which make upset the portion of people who wanted her to powercreep the entire hydro roaster for some reason.
Noteworthy that neuvilette's pas draconic glories isnt a normal damage increase but a damage multiplier like yoimiya and wanderer, which is multiplicative with the other damage inceasing effects
One thing I like about Genshin is the much slower power creep compared to other Gacha games. The game's combat system is coming back and benefits them by providing so much depth and unexplored territory that they don't need power creep to design good characters.
Good point, but Neuvillette single handly power crept all on field dps character at same investment, a C1 R1 Neuvillette shits on some older C6 on field dps, and as of current, he’s doesn’t even have a proper good team yet, when 4.2 drops, it’s jover

Answer is, big no, while yes he might offer higher damage and more enjoyable playstyle, that does not mean that he is a must pull, any character can clear any content given you invested well on it, powercreep will only happen if, lets say, enemies from fontain can only be killed by characters from fontaine

@@annettegarde2636 I do think Abyss will introduce higher hp enemies, a lot higher ones just so players are more incentivized to pull for new(better) characters in Fontaine or pull for cons for rerun characters (eg Yelan) instead of just saving, this is my prediction, Hoyo is scummy and we all know it
@@episode4882 Sad to see your favorite (older) characters you broke bank on get Powercrept to obsoletion, though saying that now is exaggerating and is more of a worry than a reality, the trend seems to be going that way, now i'd understand neuv being so strong with him being the Dragon Sovereign but if subsequent regular characters are as strong as him it will be pushing the damage ceiling, if you don't get "meta" hypercarries 36 12*3 will be a bygone dream.
Genshin may be going the HI3 route which is gonna be disappointing.
From what i have heard about Furina, she really likes when her team mates change their HP

Also Neuviliette can work with Beidou really well since her burst triggers on charged attacks, provides interruption resistance and shield on constellation
Maybe he wasn’t born in Fontaine like Lyney and Lynnette and that’s why he doesn’t have that mechanic, but it’s just a theory

@@Sinyaodo you have more than 2 enemies around? It's easier to notice Beidou's burst when there's multiple enemies. But also, it's in her burst description that says it triggers on Normal Attacks and Charge Attacks.

Not only is his design and that eyeliner perfection, but so is his story (he defended the melusines and let them live in the city kudos to him!) and his kit, I’m suprised he’s not the hydro archon
That is not eyeliner, those are natural eyelashes. Even the blue part is actually attached to the lashes and not drawn on his skin. IG that makes him even more perfect.

That's the real make or break factor, his reactions are a means to an end for him, not the end goal. This is a big sign for the future of team building
I also see a similiar theme developing . I went hard for lyney and he doesn’t care so much about reactions but hits absolutley based damage.
he's a breath of fresh air. The one thing i hate the most in this game is having to chase after enemies while low on stamina. Extremely unfun. Now we get a carry with pretty much unlimited range and no stamina drought. Love him to bits. His C1 is fantastic.
His burst animation rivals Zhongli, no more arguments are even needed

I feel like he might end up being super boring to play after a while like ganyu since the only thing you do is just constantly charge attack and the only thing his abilities do is let him charge attack faster
I mean technically all character has their one gameplay loop, even alhaitam can get boring after a while, that's why some people play meme team comp/ playstyle

The heal from the sourcewater droplets is very good so you don't have to worry about healing

She better have a kit that utilises crystallise to an amazing degree with good synergies outside of mono geo, or else imma be salty

I'm impressed that Hoyoverse made Neuvillette such a fun character, definitely worth pulling in this 1st rerun in my opinion, I still believe Furina is a better choice to pull for, yet I do hope to those who are gonna pull for this dragon!

I am skipping because the playstyle just doesn't do it for me, I grew up watching Dragon Ball but I can't use a character whose kit is only him just firing a kamehameha lol. I'll pull punchy boy because I love brawler style characters.

‘Wriothesley’ is pronounced Ryze-lee by the VAs so it isn’t a huge problem to change. I even heard from people who speak French before the 4.1 trailer came out that Ryze-Lee was how to pronounce it

This is an old English surname, there's around 8 correct versions of his name but Genshin chose Raze Lee

i heard instructor dehya is really good on neuvi hyperbloom since she's not applying pyro alot so she's not gonna burgeon often.
You can't pick up the sourcewater droplets btw. They're only consumed when you use his special charged attack.
Beidou is very nice for neu. Her shield and resistance to interruption is once check, her element a second, and her burst being able to trigger off charged attacks is a third.

I think I'm going to hold on my final judgement on who's the best Hydro character until Furina gets her banner.
Leaks tell that furina is most likely gonna be an off field sub dps unless you have her c2
Sharing this info, Beidou burst works well with Neuvillette CA.
Not that It's the best option but still a viable option for taser teams
His best teams often include either Beidou or even Kirara, he loves himself a shield that can also cause a good reaction
Personally I run him with Beidou, Fischl and Kazuha or Nahida as Rock Man goes to Hu Tao
His damage output regardless of any reactions are super high. My 💳 is dead
Well, you have forgotten that Archaic Petra set exists, so Zhongli can also bump his damage quite a lot.
Unfortunately, it ain't 20/30 seconds long, so the crystalize won't even be close to 80% uptime, since Kazuha's buff is still better cause it's both VV shred 4pcs, and Poetics of fubuutsu together lasting 10 and 8 seconds. Putting petra buff after that just losses out Kazuha's buff instead.. got any ideas..? Hopefully helping other people out
They should really rework that set. It is so useful but they put such an unnecessary restriction on it.
9:49 you are really overrating how good taser is for neuvilette and underrating the other teams. He's really flexible and works just as well in hyperbloom too

It's honestly surprising how good Fontaine units were so far, like the only weaker one this far is Freminet and that's mainly because his a 4star dps, and even then he's still not a bad unit.
Been saving for Nahida but I'm definitely considering wishing for him.

I... did not want to draw Neuvillette. I had a guarantee ready that I was planning to use to grab Furina to continue having all the archons. But I did want constellations for the 4-stars on his banner, and... well, now I have Neuvillette. And I'm not entirely upset by this; his lasers are fun, his voice lines are funny, and I really enjoyed his character from 4.0, so ultimately I did still want him, even if I'd have preferred not to get him now.
You have enough time to get another guarantee, or posibly even win your Furina 50/50. Keep your chin up!
@@cryoge I honestly can't even remember the last time I won a 50/50 for a character (at least in Genshin). It might've been... Cyno? Maybe Raiden? Point is I do not have the best luck with that. Plus, as a purely free-to-play individual I don't get that many primos, so I'm limited in who and what I can pull for.
Not that I'm going to give up or anything, of course; I'm already planning out my next moves. Gonna try and get Fischl's last constellation and build up pity in the process, then resume saving up for when Furina drops. But having lost my guarantee and having to re-build that pity as well, I do not envy my chances.
He is the only character that i willingly spend more to get their cons. I am a mobile player, so comfortably is over every that's the reason why i've never pulld tao even once coz i ve tried to use her in somebody acc and nah i cant. (Tho it might be skill issue) but still. And now neu exist my abyss is becoming extremely easy 🥲😭. I sometimes run with neu+ one flex and for the other chamver triple character (four star only) and still manage to 9* floor twelve

I actually heard that even though neuvillette charged attack IS a charged attack, you still get application for "on auto attack" effects like yelan but the best I can do is say I've heard it as someone that doesn't want to pull for him.
Yes, he activates anything that triggers with an auto attack like the Beidou taser

I know people think its copium with Dehya improving but I actually think their right simply because of Lyney. Dehya has a team where she is viable in. (Not the best but viable) so she is technically getting ‘better’. Ik its not a fair comparison but childe only has one REALLY good team but that team makes him super good (national) same can KINDA be said with Dehya?
nobody ever said she can't get better. the problem is she'll always be the worst because anything that could buff her, also buffs everyone either equally or more. so no matter how much better she can potentially get, everyone else around her also gets better and she forever stays on bottom
Her ability to protect from stagger while not actually preventing damage is a hyper-specific niche... but one that at least does exist now, thanks to the Fontaine playstyle.
Tbf, she is a far newer standard banner character. Her C1 and C2 can elevate her more for her supportive roles, but even then she will still be the next choice in comparison to other units, unfortunately. However, it is good to see her at least growing somewhat in viability, even if it isn't the best. Gives me the excuse to use her since I also have Lyney XD
Edit: hoping to see a unit that can utilise her kit one day to make her more viable, even if it is highly copium.
@@Eternity116 i dont think she is a complete downgrade in Lyney teams. She makes it so you can run kazuha instead of zhongli. Lyney, Bennett, Dehya and Kazuha/Xiangling. She is actually a good unit. Lots of people are just blinded by her initial realease and always try to push the idea that she is completely useless which is simply not true. She is EXTREMLY niche and in the niche not op just a solid and ok unit. Not terrible but not op
@@trickmonster7905 That's fair, I'm honestly liking the addition of the mono pyro comp that she now fills in, honestly. But, initial impression if hers has made her more of a running gag in the community, unfortunately. Yeah, it does makes it hard to make a debate for her under other people's bias, frustratingly so at times.

Neuvillette is the best 5 Star Hydro Character because he can fire a laser
I tried him only once and I instantly pulled for him. I didn't planned for him. I wasn't planning to pull him but I did. I needed a strong character and i needed fischl and dio cons.
I was a whale nuvi doing 98k charged atk...........at that time I asked myself
"Wtf am I even doing here?"
While his damage output is extremely high, I struggle to really see him as a full hypercarry because of the fact that as of now, we don't actually have a lot of ways of bugging him outside of something like kazuha, zhongli (pretty cope) or the vv4pc because of his hp scaling. It's also pretty hard to amplify his personal damage via vape since he applies quite a lot of hydro with his charged attack. So while his numbers would suggest a hypercarry I think in the current state of the game it's pretty hard to actually build a team to support him as such
I mean Xiao is also a hypercarry who, before faruzan, didn’t have a lot of great support options. What makes Neuvillette a hypercarry is the fact that his kit is all damage and he has to stay on-field for the bulk of the rotation to deal that damage. I do hope that a character comes out who buffs charged attack damage, though more for Itto than Neuvillette since I don’t plan to pull for him just yet.

Agree and Disagree. Xiao did not have great support options but slapping Bennet would just make his damage skyrocketed. Also Xiao himself has really really high damage... I like The dragon boi damage, but till now (only) he is average.. Just my opinion, Why would I go through all the trouble if my Hu Tao team does like a 85k per charged attack?@@kairos-049
@@kairos-049well, back then the HP of enemies are way lower so Ganyu and Xiao we're so busted all you need is just raw damage without Faruzan, and ganyu using freeze and VV was already busted.. even against single targets and bosses..
Now? Yeah good luck with 2+ mill HP with no reaction ganyu 😂 except with vertical invested weapons and artifacts almost to the peak..
We still lack a hp% benny and a hydro shenhe. Or maybe mhy will roll them into the same character like gorou
If one lacks mr John Lee, I'll guess the next best thing is using Kazuha/Fischl/Beidou, as her burst both protects him, and works with his laser attack
Layla and diona works as well too, as both could trigger freeze with his charge attack

My guess is that Charlotte will be a healer (since she's on the same banner as Furina and the theme seems to be hp drain) and in that case we have a perfect team for Neuvillette, Kazuha, Furina and Charlotte. I'm sure it'll be a sight to see

I think with C1 he might be a great bloom driver. You could use an anemo support like kazuha, sucrose, or even lynette to swirl hydro for the second stack of his damage multiplier passive and then the third stack would come from bloom, all while vv applies resistance shred, for huge aoe damage. or you could even throw someone like kuki (provided that you move towards the cores while ca'ing) for hyperbloom, might not be as brainless of a team for him as taser but could still potentially work
About c1, lets be real: without it, he loses a lot of team comps, comfort and potential damage. It's even worse that Hu Tao's c1. One thing I can't stand in Genshin is locking Team comps behind constellations. Not to mention his weapon is supposedly 30% better that any other. So it's either C1R1 or nothing.
C1 and R5 new BP catalyst are equal to C1R1
why doess his sig having 30% dmg difference compared to other weapons matter when he literally has a high base dmg even with weapons that are not his sig?
People need to stop acting like they only have half a braincell to work with. If a character is already strong without sig and their sig inflates their dmg by 30% then that means they're peak if you manage to get sig but is still very strong without it
Mate, c1 is just comfort, its not a necesity, his charge attack has good range, even without interupt resistance you will be fine, he is good at c0, anything beyond that is not needed
Isnt your argument applies to most characters? Lets say ayaka, if you compare amenoma vs mistsplitter, thats like 40% difference, yet does that make a c0 amenoma ayaka bad? No sir, she would still destroy anything not immune to cryo if you invest on her lol
i know it might sound weird but he works super well in freeze teams, running him with rosaria kazuha and a flex slot (i always go with either zhongli or kokomi) is so comfortable to play, even with only 2 stacks he does SO MUCH DMG

Neuvillette better be good because I "accidentally" got him to C1 with the Primogems I should be saving up for Furina

Unless you're willing to spend more primos/money for his C1 Neuvillette will need some form of shielding or interruption resist and even then you have to keep him safe because he constantly loses hp for his attack.
Baidou's ult works on charged attacks, I'm surpised this wasn't mentioned.
Hydro getting more stacked and seeing some furina leaks we are eating good. Funny thing is there's not much power creep for hydro in the spectrum everyone has their role with little overlap with each other. Ayato off/on field hydro enabler, childe on field front load damage potential enabler, xingqiu/yelan off field hydro applicator, kokomi/Barbara healer, candace is candace. Then there's furina having bits of everything ☠️
Yup agreed. I have all the hydro characters and they all play differently from eachother, im glad hoyoverse designed them this way. Just solid role(s) for each chara.
Also, Candace has a niche in Nilou quick swap bloom (Nilou, nahida/DMC, yaoyao, Candace) which is genuinely fun and keeps up with Nilous other teams. I have no problem doing abyss with quickswapping the Candace infusion to generate more blooms.
About the remark near 1:35 about Candace, I don’t think she strayed from the point of Hydro as a reaction enabler. Her kit is still about enabling some other part of the team, but that other part doesn’t exist.
I think it’s more that infusing another character’s normal attacks is a “forgotten archetype” (along with Chongyun’s skill or Bennett C6 burst) similar to physical. That and an 80 cost burst… we’re playing ER Impact for too many characters.
i thought she was 60 burst cost. but even then, her particle generation is not that good from what i know. tbh though i wished her elemental infusion works with other infusions. that along with her normal attack buff would be something to look for.
At 3:44 the info card says his A1 talent increases CA damage *by* 160% rather than *to* 160%, the script seemed to have the correct numbers consistently throughout the video though

What I find frustrating is how are they able to make characters this cracked at C0 but make Dehya barely functional at C0. It just feels off. Sure we have an idea how she’s suppose to work now but in the beginning it just didn’t feel right.

childe's exploration passive upgrades your NA talent by 1 when hes in the party. so at c3, and crowned, his na talent would be the first character to reach lv 14 talent level, berceuse its also the first time after freminet, that got a constellation that increases the NA talent intend of the burst or skill; so it would take his charged attacks scaling from 17.53% max hp, which paimon.moe's highest scaling record, it goes to 18.55% max hp at level 14. and since it has C1, you can have childe as the hydro resonance trigger, as well as having xiangling and kazuha for the 2 other hydro reaction. this is what many call the "new international" becasue you can switch in to childe international when you want to dispatch a bigger boss ot to save up neuvi's burst for the nect floor
My personal neuvillette team : Neuvillette (obviously) Zhongli Raiden and kazuha or kokomi

I think an interesting team would be Neuvillette, Beidou, Bennet and Kazuha. With Bennet's Burst you could also get Reverse-Vaporize Reactions in addition to Electro-Charge off Beidou's Burst, while her Shield also gives Interruption resistance. All while Kazuha causes Swirls to make them deal even more damage. Beidou would need really high ER%, but that's basically what the Emblem of Severed Fate is for anyway.

Even with the incomplete team, right now in the second abyss of 4.1, He has the number 1 use rate even higher then Nahida, Kazuha, Yelan and Solo Neuvillette is the third most used team to clear floor 12 abyss at 16 stars. I wonder what would happen when Furina comes out.

An alternative team I'm using is Neuvi, Kazuha but swap in Dehya and Beidou. If you don't have Fishl or Zhongly you can use them instead as a substitute for interruption resistance and electro-application. I'm sorry for those who still don't have Kazuha lol.
