- I absolutely LOVE how this cardbox turned out! The video and photos actually do it no justice! The inspiration for this came from The Tara Perez Project! I ❤️ her work! I made this for my cousin’s wedding after seeing one she purchased from the store and what she paid for it. I told her I was sure I could make her one that looks WAY better, for WAY less! So here’s my version! 🙃 The total cost for this project was around $20.
🎬You can retrieve the cards from the bottom of the box. The tabs were left on the bottom frame so the cardboard bling piece can be taken out and put back in! 3:28 in the video.

This was beautifully done, but question how will the bride retrieve the cards if all sides are glued down? I would hate to see the box destroyed.
I know this is an old comment but a solution I'm thinking of off hand is to attach whichever frame is gonna be your back with the pegs still attached and facing outward since that wont be visible at the event and put the back insert in like you would a picture. Then, after the event you can remove the whole back piece and retrieve the cards. you could look for a frame with a flat front but if it has a pattern I honestly don't think it would look unintentional as the front of the frame would be facing the front of the box. Otherwise, shake shake shake.

@@MsTian45 She said the bottom was the one with the cardboard and the bling on it, so it can be removed using the tabs (watch the beginning.)

This one by far was challenging because it was impossible to find the exact measurements for the frames but.....I made it work and it come out stunning.
@@DamenicaJ hi! Yes I did (4) 8x10 & 2 glass pop out 8x10 frames. The ones with do borders..I hope that makes sense. I got those from dollar general $2 each. Loveeeeee how it came out

Damenica J. Yeah it was no easy task especially when I was trying to put on the top of the box because it was hard finding some of the supplies that you used for yours but I agree that it came out pretty good. Thanks again for the inspiration

However, it’s hard to make out, are you gluing the frames on the outside of the bottom frame? If that is how you constructed it, is there supposed to be gaps, where the frames are supposed to meet on the side? I’ve tried setting the frames every which way I could think possibly.
I think when I make mine I will use a hinge and lock and key. But this is so beautiful and I cant wait to make mine

So the two boxes I did. Where not meant to have hinges. They where meant to open and close. I have been making the special for the person wanting them. And I dont think I would drill into the dollar tree frames they are not strong enough but using epoxy would probably work so much better just make sure you dont get glue on the swinging part of the hinge.... does that make since

What did you do to line them up? I'm struggling!!! The collage frames are now 10x10 and the mirror is too small.
@@DamenicaJ when I line them up on the sides, the top mirror is too small. :(
@@deshawnsimmons391 the dollar tree have 2 types of mirrors now. They have the smaller ones, and they still have the larger ones. The larger ones are hard to find in the store now, however they do still have them online. I almost purchased those little ones until I lined them up to a 8x10 photo frame and realized they were smaller.

I understand that this is an old video but can someone please comment on what type of 8x10 picture frames can be used currently? The dollar store doesn't seem to carry any that compare. I dont mind going elsewhere, even if I have to pay more. I am so determined to make this box for my son's college graduation party. Also, I searched high and low for the bling wrap... only to learn that it's actually called ribbon wrap and it's in the floral section at hobby lobby. Thanks so much for sharing this video. I have no problem ordering in bulk. I have 6 of the 8x10 mirrored frames in gold leftover from a previous project but the gold frames dont seem to appropriate for this particular project. I can only find the 9.35x9.35 picture frames and the 11x9.25 mirrors. Can I use both as replacements to what you used in this video??
As long as everything lines up at the bottoms with no gaps. Sometimes if I want to see if something will work before I buy it, I’ll put the frames together inside my cart how I plan on gluing them, using the cart to help me hold them up. The Dollar Tree has been inconsistent lately with their products. Maybe I’ll do an updated card-box soon. Sorry you weren’t able to find what I used.

I have been having the same problem. Since the mirrors are a standard 8*10 size I purchased regular frames from Dollar Tree and used Rustoleum Mirror Effect spray paint.(You can also use Krylon Looking Glass Spray Paint) That will allow you to make the glass from the frames into mirrors.

@@shadrock3716 the other thing you can do is take a regular frame from dollar tree to your local Lowe's Buy the mirror and have them cut the mirror for you. It will cost about the same as buying the mirror effect spray paint

Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear that. I would check and see if they have other frames or even wall decor/bathroom wall art, that you can take the glass from.

The tabs were left on the bottom frame to open it. The cards are dropped in from the open slot at the top.

I actually just found the 8x10 mirrors. The mirrors has been painted today. I'm gonna start putting it together tomorrow. I pray I don't have any issues either. I have watched and watched your video over and over!

Sorry. I’m just now seeing your message. I actually completed the card box. I gave it to my niece for her bridal shower. My niece loved it!! As well her guests. I plan on embellishing it a little more before the actual reception.

Thanks for replying, I am sorry I misspoke the mirror frames are not lining up to the glass frames. There is a gap at the bottom between bottom frame and side frames. I hope that makes sense.
