Colby, thank you for this content. I'm glad I'm not the only one. Realizing the extreme depth of knowledge needed to comprehend the foundations of HTML CSS like "The DOM" is super super important and can take weeks to fully sink in. Basic fundamental JS concepts can also take longer than a few days or weeks to sink in. The job market 3-4 years ago was vastly different than it is now. GA was viable then, but now it is so much different and honestly I feel like I am barely treading water.

OMG I can’t believe you dropped out the bootcamp! I was following you since you started it. I was about to start it with General Assembly in November as well 😭!

Good luck - certainly didn't go as planned but things are panning out great. More updates coming soon.

4:13 this applies to traditional college as well. I had an English composition instructor who assigned two-page essays to be due every class period, but she didn't explain what she wanted in those essays. This was the only writing-based class I ever failed in college.

Realistically, you are NOT going to become a knowledgeable "Software Engineer" in 3 months or 6 months unless you're putting in insane hours and effort every single day. You need to learn the basics of programming, data structures, and then everything else based on the stack you're using, front-end vs back-end, etc. The shorter the length the Bootcamp is and the bigger the promise is to go from 0 to 100%+ will mostly lead to disaster/failure. Also, I was actually reached out by a very popular bootcamp a year ago for a full-time senior instructor position and the pay wasn't that great for what they were asking/requiring so that is probably why your instructors/TAs aren't the greatest.

coding is all logic so i think you should first teach your mind how to think in a detailed structured manner cause once you got that it doesn't really matter what language your in that was my issue at first once i got over that hump everything else became easy thats the issue with bootcamps they dont give enough time for the Eureka moment to happen it varys for ppl

I agree - thinking in systems instead of low level implementation is key.

The camera's pulsating autofocus is extremely distracting from an otherwise excellent video.

Hey thanks for the heads up sometimes I see the video so much I stop seeing annoying things like that.

don't do coding bootcamps in 2023 unless it's down a ML / data science / data engineering path
