Naruto did similar shit and it was cringe. Naruto and Sasuke were the reincarnations of the original sons of kaguya and both of them got insane buffs late in the game simply because they needed it to beat the insanely overpowered new enemy. Both naruto and one piece had great stories before reaching close to the finale. Preskip one piece is gold,post skip might be bronze or worse...cant tell until it finishes but I am sure after so many years of buildup no matter what oda does it wont be good enough.

Gear 5 has nothing to do with anything luffy learned but just a unique form he went to cuz of his df. Reminds me of super saiyan transformation tbh but the buildup to it is far worse cuz nobody died and second luffy already had 4 gears so gear 5 was expected. And then on top of it all the form isnt even what you would expect and is instead turned into a goofy moments fight almost to the extent that it seems like character acting like tom and jerry aka cartoon is more important than the story.. If oda removed the cartoony style,goofy luffy acting and luffy controlled the environment like he did it would have been better. The hair color can stay but only if we get an explanation later on. I dont like that luffy is now sun god nika so if I were oda I would change that,but since I dont know the full story I cant really say who get to be joyboy or if he is even alive or a human. Just dont be luffy.
