Mr Fred you are The Man!! Just completed the retrofit, new burner tube, that great adjustable regulator, and the correct fittings, all from Lowes or Amazon for less than $50. Grill works GREAT!! BTW, I put a mark where I set the adjustable regulator because it can move easily and turn into a blow torch 😊. I may tape it to be even safer. Thanks again, it's burger time!!
Thank you for the tip!! I bought what you recommended and my Weber Q works like new!!! My wife called me a genius, I said I’m smart enough to look it up on UA-cam!!
Great video! You have all the fittings and all the hard work done for us..the parts list!. Just finished dismantling and painting my free Weber Q that I got from Market Place and ready for gas!
I inherited my Dad's Weber Q2200 when he passed away awhile back and the flame was really weak when I broke it out for the first time this year. Thanks so much for the detailed repair?
Excellent video. My Weber Q 2200 heats up fast and cooks great. Better now than when I bought it. I had to change a few fitting sizes based on what was available at the box store but I got the thing plumbed in and working. The concept you have there is what's important. Thank you for sharing.
I fellowed you directions - I own w webber Q1200 low flame - I removed the gas regulator - i did the fittings like you said- wasn't aware a hight pressure regular adjustable could be used
Q 1200 low flame problem. I found the adjustable regulator dangerous. I replaced with a Harbor Freight regulator $15.99 Now I have a beautiful steady flame.
Thanks for the video, my Weber Q2200 is only 3 months old and I couldn’t get the high flame and that’s when I turned to UA-cam lol 😂 So I thought before I go rebuilding my new barbecue with a new regulator I thought I would call Weber customer service because my Weber has a five-year warranty, good thing I did call them. The Weber technician walked me through the start up procedures of the barbecue, he said to turn on the propane tank and wait for one minute after one minute light the barbecue. Wow it was like magic I had a hot flame 🔥 so I did it 3 more times and it works perfect now. But I’m still thinking 🤔 I will buy the new regulator and fittings just for a backup in our motorhome. I thought of being out in the boonies with no barbecue would be devastating. 😂
Thought I'd add that I installed this regulator and it definitely helped. However, another issue that popped up was that I wasn't getting a consistent flame. Fixed problem by drilling out every single hole in the burner tube. Fixed the problem.
Hey there, excellent video and thank you for doing so. Amazon accidentally sent me a 5psi regulator and hose with a 1/8in male connection end. Can I just use a 1/8in FIM union to connect the regulator hose to the valve assembly? I have already tried and am finding that the propane is running fine with no leaks but the igniter is not lighting the burner tube. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Could be too much pressure , the grill originally used 1 pound of pressure ! That 20 regulator I have isn't on very high . It will put so much pressure it won't light the grill . Turned down it works great . I set it for the best flame on the low and high setting on the on and off knob !
Can you do a video for a Webber Q2000 grill with an LPG bottle to Butane? Want to have a smaller bottle for camping…better than lugging the big bottle around
Q 1200 low flame problem. I found the adjustable regulator dangerous. I replaced with a Harbor Freight regulator $15.99 Now I have a beautiful steady flame.
I watched your previous video and bought the parts to replace my old Weber q regulator. I’ve just now see this video where that regulator you replaced 1yr ago failed? What happened? Did you just wanted to try different method or did it not worked? Anyhow, thank you for taking the time to educate us yt people. 🙏🏽
Thanks for checking out my videos! I have been asked in the comments to adapt the WeberQ to the style of regulator that is in this video. This hose and regulator combo is much more available and works great with the quick connection in this video ▶️ ua-cam.com/video/CITbU2JAUJU/v-deo.html
The temp on my Weber Q was not up to par and it took ages to cook food. Also noticed the flame was somewhat inconsistent across the burner. I've now just cleaned the burners thoroughly with hot soapy water, using a pin to clean out the holes etc. Looks ok (still a bit of orange flame here and there) when the lid is up but when the lid's down, the flame completely goes out in certain parts. Then when I lift the lid, the flame comes back on again. Would this be a faulty regulator that needs replacement?
Lots of folks we’re sending me messages that those particular regulators are no longer available and although I could still find them on eBay, I began looking for a different fix. The hose-regulator combo is more widely available.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention and thanks for watching the video! Looks like the link has been repaired and I have added the RV quick connect hose.
I am already running a big tank, so I am guessing I do not need the parts to set the grill up for that. I have very low flame, and now I only get flame on the back 1/2 of the burner. I am thinking that adjustable regulator hose will help me, but should I also need to buy new fittings? Could they be clogged with dirt? Any additional help is appreciated.
I would definitely remove and thoroughly clean the burner tube. I use a long flexible brush from a kit I bought at Harbor Freight with dish soap and water. A paper clip works great for cleaning the holes. Cleaning the burner tube will eliminate that as the possible problem. Although it is possible for the valve to become compromised with debris, more commonly it is the regulator that develops an issue over time. Contaminants get into the regulator and cause it to malfunction and using flexible rubber hoses increases the likelihood of contamination. LP has is known to leach waxy oils from these hoses which then become contaminants in the regulator. This problem is compounded in hot weather conditions. Here in Las Vegas I am lucky to get two seasons from a regular hose on my charbroil BBQ grill in my back yard. The only way that I have found to connect the WeberQ valve assembly is with some adapter fittings like the ones in this video. I have since added a quick-connect to this hose system which allows me to disconnect the my regulator hose and store it under the lid as well as plug it into a camper’s propane system. (That video is on my channel) That all being said, factory replacement regulators are available for the WeberQ and they come with a new valve if you want to go that route here is my fill out link for that product amzn.to/3LOKeGb heist
Wow, thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly. I've already gone to Lowe's and bought the adapters, and have ordered the regulator hose. You suggested on Amazon. I will let you know how I do with the rebuild. It's so great to have experts like you to help us weekend engineers out. I also have subscribed to your channel, great info!!
Before I did this, I was getting an uneven flame across my burner. After taking these steps, I am only getting very large flames near my ignitor and no place else. I've cleaned my burner a few times, but it didn't make a difference. Not even cleaning individual holes with a paper clip. Any ideas?
These grills do require a regulator. The pressure from a propane tank is way too high to run direct. The only exception is if you connect it to a camper.
So do you slowly raise the propane in the adjustable knob to fine tune ? And I guess you can use the Weber knob after this is done?? Thanks in advance to anyone that answers it’s much appreciated 👍
You don’t need three fittings…. They do make a single fitting that goes directly from 3/8 male flair to 1/8 female npt… I did that instead and makes for 2 less places there could be a leak or failure.
The regulator is adjustable. I find that it works best for me on the low end of the dial. When I am grilling, I generally turn the grill knob to medium and the regulator knob to low and tweak the knobs from there, depending on what I am cooking.
@@MrFredsDIY ok , I installed new fitings and adjustable regulator the ingniter is working i hear gas but wont light. , removed and checked , cleaned burner tube several times. Wondering what the heck is going on lol.
I performed this fix but the flame is uneven and bounces up and down a bit. I suspect a failure in the valve itself. When I turn the gas ON at the tank but the valve is turned OFF, the valve opening bubbles when sprayed. Any fixes for this? Where can I find a replacement valve only?
Hello. I’m pretty sure that even though it says 1/2”, the fitting is 1/4. (The Amazon seller had a typo when I made this video)I just ordered through the link again and as soon as I receive it, I will verify the specs. As someone else had mentioned in the comments, there is a fitting that has 3/8” Flare to 1/8” female npt. This fitting may be easier because it is 3 fittings in one. I will pin a link to this fitting in my pin comment, but also it is right here.amzn.to/4e82QgR
