That was awesome!! I volunteer at one of the water stations (mile 9) and I've always wanted to see the actual view of a runner, thank you for your video!
And thanks for volunteering! I've done a bunch of marathons and I'm always amazed at how many people are involved in supporting us and making the marathons possible. Ogden was one of the best. First one with pancakes
It's not bad! I wear a running vest when I do marathons, so I barely notice the additional GoPro chest mount compared to the 3L of water strapped to my chest and back
I run it on external power using a small external battery (5000mAh) zip tied to my chest mount. Battery door on the GoPro with charging port hole with a very short USB C cable (4 inches). Generic chest mount (similar to Chesty). I use Timewarp on the GoPro (15x) which does all the stabilization and timelapse for you. Just click and go. The downside is how much my hands get captured and it's hard to get perfectly straight. I'm going to try a few different ideas (shoulder mount, different lenses, horizon locks) for the next one, but right now it's a pretty simple setup. Set it and forget it. I use a Hero11 right now but Hero8 gave me nearly identical results
This is using the Timewarp feature at 15x. At 4K it takes up ~8GB Timewarp essentially takes a stabilized video and then generates a timelapse from that, so it eats the same battery as video would. On the Hero11 I'd estimate that means ~1.5 hours with the stock battery. I run with an external battery pack (5,000mAh) which lasts the full marathon. You'll need a battery door with a hole for the USB cable if you do this
I am considering this race for next year...as a flat lander who lives in one of the hottest, most humid climates in the US, do you or anyone else have tips/considerations for doing a race at this altitude (with consideration of the downhill)? I do have levees near me that i utilize as my hill work but just curious if anyone else has done this race coming from sea level and a very hot/humid climate?
I didn't notice anything regarding the altitude, but you will definitely feel the downhill, and there can be pretty dramatic temperature swings (40s at the start, 80s at the finish). It's a very weird race compared to any I'd done before. I think regular marathon training load will be just fine to finish (even run on flat), but if you want a PB then definitely dedicate a day each week specifically to hills, and mix in exercises that focus on quads too. I'd done a marathon 4 weeks prior and was only running to finish, so personally I just slowed down and dialed back as my quads tightened and the temp jumped
@@omarthehippo oh wow thanks for this! very helpful! i was for sure thinking i'm gonna have to tackle strength/specifically hills and quads for this particular race. And i do hope to PB. It's been 6 years since my last marathon and i've learned a lot with each one i've done.

Thanks for sharing. Great video.
I like this concept, what is it like running with a chest strap?

Your videos are excellent and fun to watch. I wonder if you might post a video going over your camera setup and any tips? Thanks!

@@omarthehippo Good info. You get some really great results--best marathon time lapses I've seen. Thanks again!
La mejor carrera que he corrido ❤❤❤❤
That's awesome what was your time?
3:45. Would have been a lot worse if the course hadn't been downhill the whole way...
Great video! How much battery and memory did this use up and was this x30speed? Im looking to make a similar video in future
