Hi Sheila my grandma taught me to knit. She was such a lovely person she could knit, crochet, craft and sew and had a lot of patience. I think I must take after her with the knitting, crocheting and crafting.x

I really enjoyed your stories of how you learned to knit and sew from your Dad and Mum. It's lovely to have that connection. They'd be chuffed to know you're passing on those skills to so many others with UA-cam. ❤

Hello Sheila I was 5 when I learnt to knit by my mum and grandma and the age I am now in my 50s I would love to sit and have a chat with my grandma tell her all the ancestry I’ve done ask her advice on knitting, my dad was a miner so always at work never hardly saw him then he retired and died less than a year of retirement dads are wonderful as well as mums x

Sheila you’re a star with your stories. So many I can relate to, like my Mum doing outdoor work and once I’d “passed muster” being allowed to make a dozen dolls dresses with bonnets to match for two and sixpence (half a crown) - the going rate then - which meant it was one dozen less she had to do! That, like yours was the legacy they gave us to create for our children and for where we are now…….able to fill our old age (mine a bit older than your😂) with the satisfaction of crafting in whatever form. Thank you for your stories, advise and for being you!❤️

Hi Sheila - glad you finally have some sunshine. The yarn bowls are so lovely . As a new knitter AND sewer the “knitting curve” is of interest , but probably above my present skill!
Love your stories always . My granddaughter is six and she’s the one I tried to teach to knit as I was telling you - but no dice !
What a lovely legacy your dad has left you , the gift of knitting. That’s what I had hoped to give my little granddaughter …anyway I hope your dad can see you now ! Sure he’s looking down on you . A talented and skilled family you have had . The best way is how you learned -from the ‘cradle’ , as they say . Wonderful you passed on the skill to your sons.
    Nice chat !
    ❤ Marilyn xx

Hearing you chatting about your Dad teaching you the basics of knitting reminds me of how I learnt. My Dad taught me how to do garter stitch he learnt either in the Scouts or the Army. Like you my Mum taught me the other stitches and to read patterns

Hi Sheila, What great stories. Loved them all. 😂😂😂❤❤❤.
Yes learning Curve, Ive mastered the DPN's im on row 17 of a circle, last row is 32. Feel really chuffed with myself. Im loving knitting this last week. Took me 4 days to manage the start of DPNS phew lol. Hard brain work.
Im increasing every other row, but I did rows of increases by mistake lol
On the right track now lol.
And learned yarn over, then knit a stitch 😂felt clever when I learned that.
    Great Video Sheila ❤❤❤

Thanks for another great video Sheila. I remember my mum making her own clothes. She had a skirt suit which she knitted and lined among other things and I remember her making curtains too. She had a Pfaff sewing machine ( I think it was one of the Singer ones ), Such great memories. Take care. All the best ❤
