Everything about Rhoemer’s Stronghold has given me the creeps for 23 years. You have a fictional cathedral that dwarfs any other in the world that’s somehow been abandoned. Instead of worship and praise, you have vile and sterile medical experimentation. Horror film-level jump scares in the form of machine gun-wielding goons. Then you overlay that soundtrack that just puts to sound all of those ideas and subversions. The composer knew what he was doing.
That'd be Chuck Doud. Dude is a master at his craft, and he's worked on nearly everything.
Started playing it on the ps5, can't get the stronghold suspense out of my head , early 00s games really do have great soundtracks

That's what I'm saying! Just an opinion, but I feel like in the attempt of making video games like movies, we've kinda lost a certain charm games used to have like this.

52:30 And those freaking Monks with Pk102s and Combat Shotguns, god damn it... When I was a kid this level was a literal nightmare for me.
I just finished the entire game a week ago (since I barely got to play it as a child), and I really hated the sudden ambushes in that level, especially the hallways that lead to the next section of the level which was near the part where you found the 2nd patient.. It was easy to get lost on that level as well.
Maaaannn I'm 25 and barely struggling to get by the Expo level hahahaaa

Que buenos recuerdos me trae! cuando era un niño que solo se preocupaba por jugar videojuegos. Al tener la ps1 me vino con discos demos, donde estaba el primer syphon filter y fue el que mas me gusto de todos los demos que traia, asi q me compraron el juego completo, y asi segui con el 2 y 3. Juegazos de aquella epoca.

@@the_dodgers_is_win2214 Yeah man you can run an emulator and download the game for free! It would take you like an hour to set up everything tops! you can even use an old ps3 controller on your computer with a program called scptoolkit and then you can play with a playstation controller!

Wait for the chopper to finish dropping them off first then take them on one by one. Because while he's hovering his machine gun turrets will rip you apart in a mere second since you're fully exposed and in his cross hair range@@ironbirdshredder77

Rented this game from blockbuster when it came out.
It's March 24th, 2020. Back on March 20th a Sly 1 prototype from May 19th, 2002 was released and a placeholder track was used in the build. It wasn't until the 24th we discovered that it was fucking Washington Park from Syphon Filter, both the suspense and action variants are present in the build. Although I'm mildly disappointed that it wasn't something completely unique and unheard of before, I'm still glad we found the true origin of the track and learn about a different game that has some pretty damn good music.
