In a real life scenario a person with just average reflexes could've commanded the pilots to abort take off. And the plane that was landing also had enough time to go around judging by the descend rate and altitude.

This recently just happened. 2 twinjets nearly collided when the first jet was supposed to land. It was landing on the taxiway, but it was due to the fact it was very dark outside. Had they collided, a few more planes on said taxiway would've been decimated as well.
