I'm not looking for anything facy, if you know of a medium to large sized barn in not bad condition let me know. Obviously I want to spend as little as possible as I've been royally screwed over by my sister who it appears is hell bent on taking my inheritance. I've hardly got anything to my name. All I want is a very simple rustic lifestyle, my only stipulation a roof that is relatively intact. Anything else I can fix up over time by recycling and upcycling everything I can get my hands on. If a bit of land comes with it even better. If a small running stream is on the property fantastic as I can always use running water to build a small power generator for electricity.

What region are you in and did I hear you say you have a cottage where visitors can stay? I would like to come and have a look at some rural properties around may \ June time this year. We did put an offer on a house through Gemma, it was accepted but we backed out at the last minute because it just wasn’t wise to purchase sight unseen from Canada. When the time is right, we will come to Bulgaria and get in touch with Gemma in person. My husband is a retired Bus driver as well! Would it be possible to talk in depth about mail delivery/postal services in Bulgaria? We live in rural Canada and rely heavily on mail order. Everything from household goods, electronics, specialty items, and quite a bit of Amazon orders. How do you find it there?
@@simoneclarke5104 yes we were thinking of covering a bit about buying without seeing in person, and I have to agree I wouldn't advise it though you can trust Gemma to be honest and upfront about properties. Sadly we found postage very difficult and rely on friends and family who visit to bring and take items to and from the UK. That said I found my new best friend Temu very good indeed, speedy delivery and straight to our village xxx

If ever you need antibiotics drive down to Greece where you can buy them for peanuts over the counter at any pharmacy OR in Bulgaria buy 100% natural organic unpastuerised very dark honey, the darker the better as that is the best antibiotic alternative.

Pour the liquid into a mug, add honey to sweeten the taste and gargle ot or swallow it. Take it 3x a day. Within 3 days your cough will be pretty much gone.

That being said from what I gathered from other UA-camrs ( there are surprisingly quite a lot of those living around our old capital) he's spot on. Even though I'm Bulgarian, my wife isn't and now I have to figure out how exactly the whole process works. This flippin' Brexit seems to be a headache. I had controversial information how it work so it seems I have to call the embassy and see what the process is . A lot of houses may look cheap as chips but that's because they need everything done on them, which normally will run at least to 3x of what you paid for the house in first place. And there is as many cowboy Bulgarian builders as there are British ones. Best bet is to check the local supermarket when the grans are buying their groceries ( early mornings) and ask if they have heard of good builders ( maistori) in the area. Normally they know everything but keep in mind Bulgarian is essential. No one in the small villages speaks any English at all. And prices in the towns and cities are something else( in VT good house is about 300k give or take and in comparison to Sofia, where I'm from that's rather cheap! I have a house 3 miles from Sofia that I can sell for 450k which is mental, considering I bought this house 18 years ago for 10k and spent probably another 20k on it).

In the past if you knew the chemist he may have sell illegally to you but that wasn't the norm. Unlike the UK, Bulgarian GPs don't just prescribe paracetamol... They used to give antibiotics too if it was something more serious ( initially with lighter antibiotics). Probably things have changed as well( I haven't used a GP from prob 17 years there so not sure).
Antibiotics and medicine for diabetes are now sold only with prescription from doctor.. A lot of people were taking antibiotics for no reason.Like this resistance to bacteria becomes weaker in the population and it was said that when we really need an antibiotic we will be resistant to it.That was the official explanation.I have no idea if it's like this or just another stupid EU regulation. Nevertheless if they have a GP I'm sure he will give them the prescription for antibiotic.
