Currently in an internship helping a director start his immersive installation project.
    This was good insight.

Hi! I am an artist from the U.S. This video was incredibly helpful… My dream is to be a fulltime installation artist but struggle with how to get there. I don’t have in depth knoledge of heavyweight machinery nor do I have a huge studio and assistants.. I have made a few small installations and actually made a larger one for my senior show in undergrad. My question to you is: How do I get from where I am to eventually making large scale installations? Also, how to go about finding the stuff you listed above in America. Id really appreciate any tips!

Thanks so much for this, we're so happy you found it helpful. We LOVE creating installation (in fact we're just finishing an edit on our next video which follows us from start to finish on a public art installation). That's awesome that you are already working on some different installation projects! Most of our friends who work on large scale installations that are permanent are applying to city posted RFP's and these often have a budget that will allow you to hire out work that you can't do yourself. This allows you to work with welders, engineers, etc. to bring your idea to life. You can google search "public art RFP in (city)" to find open calls, an arts council in that area will sometimes share public art open calls, Re-Title is a great website codaworx is also a great site for finding open calls throughout North America.
