remastered with color corrections and motion blur effects.
Music by Denny Schneidemesser
Sound by Glenn Hafagre
During a paint over job, a young woman wakes up in a fantastical world and befriends a one winged dragon. In the painted world, the artist rediscovers her love for her work.
Animation done in Flash. Photoshop for Backgrounds. Composition in After Effects. Final Cut Pro to put it all together.
It's funny. I can't remember exactly when, but somewhere from 2012-2014 I came across this film; I was about 13-15. After watching your film, knew I truly wanted to become a professional artist/animator. Now come a little over 4-6 years later I'm in my first week of my very first semester of college.
Honestly, it's been overwhelming. After being homeschooled for about 9-10 years and now going back to a classroom/homework loaded setting, I almost wanted to throw in the towel saying "This is not for me." Now today, after I came back to this film, I remember why I wanted to go into college. It's gonna be hard, especially the general ed, but I'll get there. In a few years time, I'll be the one making my own film and maybe I'll inspire a new generation of young artists.
Thank you for making Crayon Dragon. I wouldn't be pursuing my dream without it.
🥺🥺
I was homeschooled for ten years, going into animation school and it’s terrifying me
@@olivianendick6911 I won't lie, it's still scary for me too. But if you have the drive and passion to pursue animation then don't let fear stop you for anything. Also don't be afraid to make mistakes, embrace them. We learn more from our failures than our successes.
And don't be afraid to ask for help from peers or professors.
@@radleyg.l.1890 I know this is an old comment but, how did you get into animation school? I want to pursue animation as well so i'd like to hear from someone who is already on that path.
I’m seeing this very late but this comment was so heartwarming 🥺 honestly made me tear a bit. I believe you’re probably in ur last year of college now, so I wish u the best :)
it's scary how talented a person can be, I loved it.
i remember seeing this a long time ago. it’s still as beautiful today, and the storytelling is phenomenal.
The music, the animation quality, the flow, everything. Spot on
Just watched this again today. So touching still, after all these years
The lesson of this video is: There are times when you should design what "you" want, not what others want. Let you imagination fly.
oh man your animation style is so cute i cant stand it
+Kirstendabunny Hahahah thanks!
I agree !
@@TonikoPantoja Wait... Aren't you a furry artist? I swear i remember your animations from somewhere.
This animation means so much to me, I watch it a lot when I’m going through hard times. Thanks toniko
I am really touched by your animation. I think I've felt like passion and spark for being an artist was dying in me and watching your artworks gave me joy and hope.. Thank you so much.
Not to mention how lovely your animation looks, how funny it is to watch! How well it is done! Right in the spot!
I don't know why but every time I watch this film it activates my cry reflex or something, I can't go 30 seconds without the urge to burst into tears haha, amazing work!
That was amazing i literally cried in any other medium i wouldn't have felt that much. So thank you sir for proving i do have emotions.
The opening and ending scenes brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for creating this !
This is so gorgeously done, beautiful art and a great story! One of my new favourite short films for sure!

Try to live life to the fullest no matter what the challenges are.Makes best use of whatever life has offered to us.Thats the moral of the story of this animation.
Man in just 3 minutes I got so emotionally engaged with that dragon 💕 beautiful work!!
Thank you for this animation
I think that even that's literally 10 years old from the first one, was what I was needing to watch
This is the power of art: Touching someone's inner feelings
your hand created the world. Colorful, freedom and a little lonely
Crazy how few views this masterpiece has
This is one of the most beautiful and tear inducing animations I've ever seen, needs to have much more views!!! Even 10x the amount of views it currently has would be criminally low!
This showed up on my feed 7 years too late but I’m so happy I found it. Wonderfully made!
5 years later and this is still my most favorite short film. Everything about this is perfect
Art is so magical it’s unbelievable
*The animation looks so good🩵❤️🩷💜 🌈*
you know sir, I had watched it previously on vimeo, and that day was not particularly good for me as an artist , I had put so much effort on to my painting and then I messed up , I was feeling awful but later on that day I some how discovered this animation of yours , and I was like Yeaaaah...this is me...and I was so Inspired
thank you so much sir...You might not realise how much your films positively effect us...thank you and please keep doing what you are doing. Wish you luck and good health
I just hate how underatted this video is. I mean this must have taken weeks

This is so lovely, I felt so sad when they vanished, but then she remember them, so cute and cool.
My favourite part is when the dragon create lanterns by some power, reaching the ground, so magical :3

Don't you hate it when you fall into a mural that you're commissioned to build
I remember seeing this on Tumblr several years back. It doesn’t fail to mess me up after all this time.

Really inspiring stuff my friend! I stumbled on your videos for animation tutorials a couple of days ago, you've taught me a lot over a short space of time and it's helped me paint a better picture on how I'll go about my plan! I feel like I really got to know this animation before I watched it thanks to your other videos. Thank you very much for the advice, keep up the awesome work and stay healthy!!

AWWWW THANK YOU SO MUCH EMG FJSDAFJKSDFL ^^
Very beautiful animation💗💗💗😊😊😊
How much time did it take you to finish this animation.
Your skills are really great 💗💗💗
WOW! Amazing! How many years of animation and drawing did you do before going to calarts? You seem to be light years ahead of me.
I want this guy to write and animate for a film
How many frames does this beautiful little film consist of? Around 2625?
If only they'ed hire you to design cartoon characters. Your style is different than the "Calarts" style trend.
How long did it take to finish.
+Nice DccGags A semester of trying to tie down the story, and the remaining semester to animate all of it! :)
Did you get your inspiration from chalk zone?
