I just bought a Deluxe 2 hours ago. In the past, all I wanted was good tone. So naturally I avoided modeling amps. But through the years, modeling got better and better. Now, as I got older, and lugging around heavy tube amps is beginning to get more difficult, things I'm looking for in an amp has changed. The two biggest things for me this year is tone and weight. The Tone Master nails it for me. This will be my main gigging amp for the next two years.
I'm an EE IC circuit designer for 30 years I've had a 70's pro-reverb, bassman and use a blackstar 5HTR which isn't enough for my small club gigging .... I'm done lugging, you guys nailed it! Great job!

I have the Twin. I played a few of them before buying. I was still skeptical. I watched every video I could find. You don’t know what it’s going to sound like in your environment, when you get to sit down & put in some real quality time with it. I’ve been doing just that. Here’s what I really like, that I didn’t expect. This amp really excels when you push it. Even running it at 1watt, when you get it into the 7-10 range on the volume, you start to feel the swell of the tubes(which aren’t there). There is a really good amount of variance from 7 to 10, as well. At 7 you start getting that Stray Cats kinda vibe. At 10 it’s full on Sex Pistols. Somewhere in between, you might find your sweet spot. I love it, so far. I really do. I’ve heard a lot of complaints about the Vibrato & Reverb. I can understand from a Fender purist point of view but, I was able to dial in what I needed in any situation. In summary, I didn’t expect for the Tone Master to replace my favorite Tube Amp. But, it has far exceeded my expectations. & it is much more versatile. I won’t be selling my tube amp, it certainly has its place. I am however, excited for my future with the Tone Master Twin Reverb.
Picked up a Tone Master Twin Reverb to replace a Super Reverb and I must say...it sounds pretty identical to every TRRI I’ve played...Fender nailed it! I thank you, my neighbors thank you, and my back thanks you!
I’ve owned the Deluxe Reverb ToneMaster now for 2 months now and I can honestly say it’s a great sounding amp with all the tube like quality you want to hear. Takes pedal really well and at no point does it sound like a small 1 x 12 box amp, just has that push of air, spread of sound and feel of a much bigger unit. Try one in store and you understand better.
It literally took ENGINEERS to build this machine. Props to Fender. I own one right now and it’s magnificent!! Feedback is amazing, weighs like nothing, don’t need to set the volume at 7 for that organic tube sound! 5/5
I'm reading many comments here about the sound and the quality of the vacuum tubes amp. But I was listen an amp of these on the produce like a pro channel and Warren say it's sound nice. And the sound really emulates good a vacuum tubes. Maybe these will be a lot of hard to give maintenance because it like a new car. More complex than an old one. But, when I think on the new technology of processor and the fall down price from the performance per dollar of these. The new era of modeling amps will be so interesting. Because for emulated the real tone you need a CPU with a higher performance for can make a high analog/ digital audio conversion. And if we are so close to a 32 bits of audio processing with a almost 96 kHz of sample rate. The sound will be so nice like the old one.
In most venues I’ve dealt with the tube twin is too loud. This is a nice way to get the twin tone in any room. To me that’s worth a thousand bucks. I’m getting one!
I love the whole concept! I've already got a Deluxe Reverb Reissue, but have had to invest in an expensive cab sim device for silent recording during the evening. If these sound as good as claimed, with a power level switch + mute + IR cab simulations, it's the ideal gigging amp AND the ideal home practice/silent recording at night amp. Those are the two most important functions I have each week. At under $1000 bucks for all of that, it's actually a killer price if the sound quality lives up to the real tube amps. I'm digging it, Fender!
One thing everyone failed to consider is FIRMWARE UPDATES. They just released a new one that works out kinks everyone suggested after owning them for a year. They removed the virtual “bright cap” from the vibrato channel, making it absolutely perfect for pedals; added more range to the reverb; and even an emulation of a celestian creamback speaker to replace your jensen tone! Who knows whats next!
@@erictoniaschwab1009 dude that a no brainier.. I'm an pro amp repairman. and I have a small warehouse stacked full of junk Line 6 and Behringer modeling amps. they are basically unfixable mainly due to parts availability and "cost to fix" verse "cost to replace". the simple truth is, Digital surface mount technology on PC boards, isn't rugged enough to stand up to what Musicians require of their gear. its probably fine for bedroom or studio use......but not traveling. so buy accordingly. also there is one other thing that nobody has EVER talked about yet.. Tube amps only use about 4 types of components and as long as they continue to make those f types of basic components. tube amps will be repairable.. which is NOT SO for Solid State amps, We are seeing this now with the rising costs of Power transistors for older Solid State amps. it can now cost as much as 350+ bucks to repair a 100 watt Peavey amp. and they amp never sound as good as it did when new. unless you replace all components. but, if you spend that same 350+ to completely recap and retube a vintage tube amp, its tone will go right back to where it was when new. and you will be able to recoup your cost when you resell it. and often a refurbished Tube amp will last another 20 years with only a little maintenance.. That said, I don't know what these new Fender tone master amps will sell for.. but if its over 399. then its a bad idea. because you can buy the boss Katana for $229 and $329 for 50 and 100 watts respectively and they have many of the same features and even more.
Fender tonemaster Twin Reverb which I have owned since October of 2019 when I look at the tonemaster from the point of view that it is a different animal I absolutely love it. But when you put two horses in a head-to-head match race Fender Twin Reverb tube amplifier wins by a nose now and forever!
Not criticizing, sincere question here.. Wouldn't it have been cheaper/easier (from a development standpoint at least) just to put a reverb tank in there and run true spring reverb? The hot rod series runs analog spring reverb through solid state and it sounds great. Either way, I'm excited to try one of these out!
@@analogicmatheus573 I don't think it would be though. If it was tube driven then yeah, transformers etc needed for tube power are super heavy, but many amps have solid state driven reverb, even some pretty cheap amps. You'd really only have the weight of the reverb unit which is negligible. That being said though, having digital reverb is one less component that can fail adding to the overall reliability of the amp which is one of the huge upsides of this amp vs the traditional versions. Just think it would be a cool selling point, but to be fair, Fender never asked me haha [EDIT] and furthermore, depending on the signal chain etc.. having an analogue reverb in an otherwise all digital amp might present it's own issues as well, I'm sure if it was a good idea they would have done it. That's why I don't get paid to develop amps lol
I just bought the Twin Reverb Tone Master. All I can say is thank you Fender!! Hope you can create a Tone Master version of your tweed amps.. especially the tweed deluxe!!
I have a Fender Tone Master Deluxe and a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe with Deluxe extended cab…… I absolutely love my Tone Master. I use a MXR super badass pedal with a MIM strat and I can get all the tones I want. Sounds fantastic! I just need to get a twin one now
In a side by side demo with the real amps I preferred the Tonemasters, on both deluxe and twin. If that holds true when I play one myself I'd seriously consider one. My current amp is great but it's so heavy I need a mate to help me get it out of my loft, where I play at home. Cheaper than moving house if the tone is good. Would have gone for quilter etc but want vintage looks.
I own the cream Twin. Its great! Its 95% there.. When you lug gear around hotels etc like I do, that 5% isnt a deal breaker for how convenient this is.. Ill still bring my tube amps when jamming w guitar buddies.. but if I did bring the TM it would also hang just fine.. It really does sound and feel like a Twin. Total placebo effect. Plus, now its great for bedroom use as well.
I just bought a Super Reverb. I'll put it through it's paces when it gets here. If it's as close to my old Super like they say, I won't need much else. I love my tubes, but they are hell to move around and then there's the maintenance to consider. I never had much use for amps that modeled all kinds of other amps, nor modeling amps with presets of one's fave players. The idea is to have your sound.
So these have finally released. It will be interesting to see how they sell I hope they sell well because it's the first Fender amplifier range to my knowledge that has a built-in attenuator these should be standard on all amplifiers these days regardless of manufacturer. Please consider putting attenuators on all of your amplifiers blues Juniors hot rod deluxes the whole range I really think you guys would make a killing @Fender. I did want to buy one of these but I got a great deal on a 65 Princeton Reverb actually it's a limited edition model and I couldn't pass it up and yes it's loud for my apartment but this is why attenuation should be standard on everyone's amplifiers in the industry.there's no reason for gigging guitarists to have full blast 85 watt amplifiers and there's a specially no reason for somebody in an apartment or a house who could ever fully utilize 85 to 100 Watts of a tube amp
Not rambling I just didn't have time to make the punctuation to your liking sir. All I said was that I hope these sell well and that they should put attenuators on all of their amp ranges and this goes for any manufacturer because in this day in age there's no need to use all of the power in an 85 heck even a 30 w amp. I feel sorry that your brain couldn't comprehend what I was saying because my punctuation wasn't up to your standards. I hope this is better for you.
I can think of quite a few reasons why people would opt for one of these. Have you ever carried a Twin around? The recording/IR/attenuation options are also huge benefits. That all said, I'd have to really put it through its paces to see if it gets "the" tone. To me, a cranked Twin is probably my favorite tone of all time. Just a hint of breakup and ample reverb. From what I hear, the tone is about 95% there, which if you take in all the benefits it has over a standard twin, it might make sense to a lot of people. I've always found that as long as the audience is rocked, the gear doesn't mean shit. Most of them done care at all about whether you're playing a "real" amp
Probably the same reason why the Kemper Amps artist gallery is so full of excellent guitarists: low weight, studio/live versatility and tone virtually indistinguishable from a valve amp, especially in a mix. That said, like the Courtney Barnett song "my internal monologue is saturated analogue".😂
Imagine a ToneMaster that has the tone and power of a Twin Reverb, the size and weight of a Princeton Reverb, the cab sim tonal accuracy of a UA Dream 65, all along with Bluetooth connection auxiliary in for practice and headphone output. THAT would be an amp for the rest of your life
Iam enjoying my tone master blonde twin reverb at age 71 the weight is a blessing the sound is wonderful its a fender sound all the way i still have my 65 deluxe reverb i got when i was 12 so i will allways be a fender customer
It is anyway super fun to see the scenes switching back and forth between the "analog guy" and the "digital guy". If those therms were in a dictionary, you would have pictures of these guys (and the scenario on the back) as the definition. 😃
For those of us that have been buying the fender modeling solid state amps from the beginning have just been left behind. Tube amps were too costly and now the new age tubeless are over priced. A $350.00 Champion 100 was so close to great, and now the tone master is a $1,000.00 solid state marvel,,,but not attainable to your solid state modeling amp users. I wish Fender the best of luck in converting the tube/valve amp die hard users to convert to the Tone Master Series.
I have had tube amps and solid state amps. I still have solid state amps, Fender, Quilter, Vox. I prefer the solid state amps for versatility, light weight, reliability, and sound quality. If I had a dollar for every time someone with a tube amp had it crap out on them, and needed to borrow one of my solid state amps, to finish a show, I would be a wealthy man.
If a component fails, is it cost effective to repair? I know they will be long lasting and reliable, but with most digital equipment, it’s easier to replace the whole unit if something fails. Will these amps be in service 50-60 years from now, like the originals?
Fender, PLEASE add the ability to change the era of the model! Tweed/black/silver variants and the ability to change the reverb/trem models, IR loading as well through the USB!
When I desire that tone but can't get it by tubes (because they are way too loud for home) then I just use a plugin. Why would I spend that kind of money to buy an amp which is not even the real thing with tubes? You should focus on making a low wattage Fender tube amp that sounds good! That's what people want: They want tube amps they can play at home - similar to Blackstar 1 or 5 watt amps... and make it a head version so that I can pair it with a decent speaker.
Call me crazy but fender nailed the solid state twin reverb with the frontman 212R and I I think those last solid state amps sound way better than these tone master things !
This video is really interesting, really good I'm into it but still, the amp itself I'm not quite sure if would be able to compete with so many options outside at lower prices, even the same Fender Super Champ XD through some higher end SS or modeling amps Like Boss Nextone, Roland Blues Cube to name some.
I have an issue with the price point when there are so many great and much more flexible options out there that come way under this. Helix stomp + powercab or the boss nextone for example.
Question: Suppose I wanted this same amp BUT with the ceramic magnet, assuming that the weight of the amp for me wasn't an issue... Would I get even closer to that elusive tube sound...? Or would that screw up the whole design. ( Somebody's gonna ask this sooner or later, right...? ) [ 4:30 ] Also... I had one of those G-Dek amps... I had fun dialing in tone variations for about two years, until the circuitry crapped out and nobody could fix it... I didn't like that and I wouldn't be a happy camper if that happened again to my new $800.00 Tone Master, would I...?
I see this as a step in the right direction by Fender. I still think Fender should be more advanced with all of their amps but looks like the writing is on the wall with tube amps. Eventually solid state amps will out perform them, as hard as that to imagine. I still don’t understand why Fender hasn’t added more features to all of their tube amps like FX loops, reverb, and power attenuators! It’s 2019 Fender
I get my new twin tone master tomorrow I am hopping it works well with my Boss GT 100 pedalboard light is the new way to go I might but my a Richie Kozen R5 v2 effects pedal and go all the way light.
@@brandonkruse6412 anytime i see a video with that heroic music in the background, and the words "more expensive" I know I'm going to be ripped off, right away. And since when can a Fender amp do every genre of music? That's almost laughable considering how many companies have made a name (Mesa Boogie,Rivera ect) modifying Fender amps to sound right, and to produce more gain.
@Tong Zou Digital processing amps have always sounded fake in comparison to the real thing, it is what it is. I know this from experience. Anytime I have owned a piece of gear made in China, it has sounded and performed like crap. Maybe this isn't going to, and I will give you that but the rest have and I wont be suprised if this does either . The Chinese components and quality control doesn't ever hold up to anything America can produce. Rivera has a big disclaimer about using the Rock Crusher attenuator with Chinese made amps, because the components can and will fail under normal use and can cause damage to your gear. I don't think that's necessarily going to apply in this case, but it's still something to take note of so I'm passing it your way.
Brad Dietz the magnet doesn’t control the breaking in of the speaker cone. Fender says it’s the same except for the magnet. A smaller and lighter neodymium magnet that’s stronger will act like a larger ceramic magnet.
Anyone compared one of these to a helix and powercab? I love helix in the headphones, not so much through powercab or other frfr, but mostly switched from tubes because of the volume and recording convenience. Is this much better than a modeler and powercab? Oh yeah, I hate how much fiddling modelers seem to require for me to get good tones. This seems perfect but does it sound much better since it’s much less flexible?
Hey Fender; 'member the cyber twin? how bout the mustang series of amps? Those were just as god as the real thing too. I'm paying 900$ for a Chinese solid state amp. Bring back the champion 600. That was light weight. Do they not want to sell these?
So my question is? what's the longevity of a tone master? If I buy a Custom deluxe reverb I have an amp that will last me the rest of my life with easy maintenance and repairs. What happens to this amp in 2-5-10 years? kaput?
They did a good job with the amp, but the price will ultimately be the reason why I feel like this line will be unsuccessful. I don’t see people buying a copy of the amp that’s almost the same price as the actual amp.
I think 700-750 would have been better. I want the twin reverb bad, but would go with a helix over this amp. I understand that they are very different products, but you can help compare it to similar products in the range.

Right Idea! Wrong Price!
It is garbage! Digital garbage!
Michael Craig Garbage? Can I see your evidence that digital amps are garbage?
DUFFMAN005 if they sold this for less why would anyone want to purchase a tube amp?
@It's Okay yea its old fashioned thinking, this whole analog vs digital thing
What about a tonemaster Vibroverb? That would sell crazy
Appreciate the love! 🎶🔥
I was thinking the same. I have a surfy bear spring reverb unit and it sounds fantastic.
I think they didn't do that because it would make the amp heavier
@@analogicmatheus573 I don't think it would be though. If it was tube driven then yeah, transformers etc needed for tube power are super heavy, but many amps have solid state driven reverb, even some pretty cheap amps. You'd really only have the weight of the reverb unit which is negligible. That being said though, having digital reverb is one less component that can fail adding to the overall reliability of the amp which is one of the huge upsides of this amp vs the traditional versions. Just think it would be a cool selling point, but to be fair, Fender never asked me haha
[EDIT] and furthermore, depending on the signal chain etc.. having an analogue reverb in an otherwise all digital amp might present it's own issues as well, I'm sure if it was a good idea they would have done it. That's why I don't get paid to develop amps lol
I just bought the Twin Reverb Tone Master. All I can say is thank you Fender!! Hope you can create a Tone Master version of your tweed amps.. especially the tweed deluxe!!
I just saw three of these on stage at the Grand Ole Opry, that’s all the proof I need.
I have a Fender Tone Master Deluxe and a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe with Deluxe extended cab…… I absolutely love my Tone Master. I use a MXR super badass pedal with a MIM strat and I can get all the tones I want. Sounds fantastic! I just need to get a twin one now
Cool, half the weight, and in a few months they will sell on the used market for less than half of the new price.
I don't think anyone is buying at this price. I've yet to see a review on any online site
STILL WAITING FOR THE PRICE TO DROP
Yeah, more like a few years
@@1DerekMiracle lol , in a few years those will be nothing but regrets.
S D it’s definitely going to be interesting to watch.
Please, please, please! Do a tweed tone master series. I need a tweed twin.
I'd love a Twin emulation in small-footprint, low-power, bedroom amp.
No fx loop?
That’s the Saltmine Recording Studio in Mesa. I recorded there a couple of months ago.
The rambling man....
@@mattmanley7118 wow, you didn't take that well, did you? Lol
You do know you can turn the volume up and master down? Same effect as an attenuator and most fender amps have a separate master and volume.
If it was like $500-600 I would order one immediately
For $200 more, you can own the real thing. I don't get it.
Most of them done care at all about whether you're playing a "real" amp
and then buy an attenuator and you're set !
No you don’t get it. It’s not for you. It’s for people like me who do get it.
@@TheGuizmo11 it has that already!!!
Make in america USA baby. Thank you from MIAMI. I just have bought one. Today Yeaaaaa
Imagine a ToneMaster that has the tone and power of a Twin Reverb, the size and weight of a Princeton Reverb, the cab sim tonal accuracy of a UA Dream 65, all along with Bluetooth connection auxiliary in for practice and headphone output. THAT would be an amp for the rest of your life
In an town-home, therefore i'm interested! From a former tube purist.
Iam enjoying my tone master blonde twin reverb at age 71 the weight is a blessing the sound is wonderful its a fender sound all the way i still have my 65 deluxe reverb i got when i was 12 so i will allways be a fender customer
Amaizing work guys! tonemaster sounds awesome
I got the deluxe reverb. A bit pricey but well worth it. It's a fantastic amp!
Fender Champion 100...channel 1 and Game Over for 100 bucks
Imagine a Fender Bassman Tonemaster🎉
It is anyway super fun to see the scenes switching back and forth between the "analog guy" and the "digital guy". If those therms were in a dictionary, you would have pictures of these guys (and the scenario on the back) as the definition. 😃
Have not heard these yet but haven't heard a modelling amp in a band situation that sounds good yet
I own one and have always been a tube guy...these are fantastic
I have had tube amps and solid state amps. I still have solid state amps, Fender, Quilter, Vox.
I prefer the solid state amps for versatility, light weight, reliability, and sound quality.
If I had a dollar for every time someone with a tube amp had it crap out on them, and needed to borrow one of my solid state amps, to finish a show, I would be a wealthy man.
Tremelo sounds are making a comeback!
Well done .Leo Fender would like it.
I wait for Tone Master 2, maybe 3 or 4. I think I will wait for 11. Thumbs up. Keep up the good work.
That is great engineering !
If a component fails, is it cost effective to repair? I know they will be long lasting and reliable, but with most digital equipment, it’s easier to replace the whole unit if something fails. Will these amps be in service 50-60 years from now, like the originals?
Great! Some new studio gear for my next blues album with that classic tone 👌🎵🎸
Just waiting for custom color tolex and i am in! I played one in the store and it DOES deliver.
I love my ‘57 champ. I would definitely be interested in a tone master amp
Fender, please add an effects loop to future models, thank you.
But... the wonderful Tone Master is built in China? Thanks guys, great work
Puro pinche mexa, ahuevo compas! fender for life
Fender, PLEASE add the ability to change the era of the model! Tweed/black/silver variants and the ability to change the reverb/trem models, IR loading as well through the USB!
Well done guys!!! You are the BEST!!!
Fender makes wonderful 5 watt all tube amps where have you been?
Call me crazy but fender nailed the solid state twin reverb with the frontman 212R and I I think those last solid state amps sound way better than these tone master things !
How to plug a headphones into this without using a computer ? Using a mixer maybe ?
This video is really interesting, really good I'm into it but still, the amp itself I'm not quite sure if would be able to compete with so many options outside at lower prices, even the same Fender Super Champ XD through some higher end SS or modeling amps Like Boss Nextone, Roland Blues Cube to name some.
How come there isn't a current Twin or Deluxe? They're all reissues. What would a non-reissue 2022 TR or DR be like?
Fender if you read this: why does the amp does not habe a Headphones out? Why is the Reverb over 2 way too much? A head option would be nice.
Have you looked into using microtubes to make one of these with actual tubes to cut down on weight and size?
I have an issue with the price point when there are so many great and much more flexible options out there that come way under this. Helix stomp + powercab or the boss nextone for example.
"Why should I buy this when I could spend hundreds more on the same thing but twice the weight and way more finicky and fragile?" - guitarists
Great job !!!
Question: Suppose I wanted this same amp BUT with the ceramic magnet, assuming that the weight of the amp for me wasn't an issue... Would I get even closer to that elusive tube sound...? Or would that screw up the whole design. ( Somebody's gonna ask this sooner or later, right...? ) [ 4:30 ]
Also... I had one of those G-Dek amps... I had fun dialing in tone variations for about two years, until the circuitry crapped out and nobody could fix it... I didn't like that and I wouldn't be a happy camper if that happened again to my new $800.00 Tone Master, would I...?
Fender: Everybody wants this.
Everyone: Nobody asked for this.
If Henry Ford had asked the customer what they wanted, they would have said "faster horses".
Cool but we need fender tube reverb, why it isn't avaible anymore? A lot of musicians use reissues and old versions
It’s 2019 Fender
remember the hullabaloo about the cybertwin? doesn't exist anymore.
Cyber Twin is twenty years ols and digital amps have come a long way. Just because it was done once doesn't mean it can't evolve and get better. :)
Shame the Twin isn’t stereo input, us Rhodes piano guys need some love.
Shame the Twin isn’t stereo input, us Rhodes piano guys need some love.
I'm skeptical, but I'll give it a try. A great approach to modeling
You won't regret it. I can guarantee that you will be amazed. Hopefully you have gotten one.
I get my new twin tone master tomorrow I am hopping it works well with my Boss GT 100 pedalboard light is the new way to go I might but my a Richie Kozen R5 v2 effects pedal and go all the way light.
Translation: Katana's been kickin our asses. Time to kick a little ass in return.
Question: Will there be delay as this is digital if I used this amp with a tube amp in a wet dry setup?
$999.00 for a digital amp?!
SuperJiggawhat Yeah, I really believe they missed the mark here. Great concept but not for vintage amp prices.
Has fender seen the boss nextone's price?
@Tong Zou You're 100% correct, it's a $999.00 practice amp that's made in China.
Fender is good. 👍💕💕💕
Wonder if/how that neo speaker will “break in” and how that will contribute to the sound?
IS the Tone Master that much better then their Mustang GT200 version of the Deluxe Reverb ?
Can we get just straight forward anolog solid state amps again like the 80s and 90s please
Yo tengo un Deluxe reverb y de fábrica viene con el biass muy frío, suena como si fuera de transistores.
Beautifully done video
