Two weeks ago I just went on my first trip to Japan, Tokyo, solo trip, for 5 days. At 1:59 the moment Pete played those audio clips my eyes just tearing up a bit because how much I missed those days in Tokyo. Keep up the good work with the podcast guys, been an avid listener for 3 years.
We loved Himeji Castle and the inside was worth it. I especially enjoyed as a few months before I got the Lego set for Father's day and surprisingly the set is very accurate. However, if visiting in winter I recommend thick socks as the wooden floors in the resident "palace" on the side are flipping cold. I especially got a kick in recognising locations from films such as RAN.
Japan's deadliest dish is not Puffer fish, which if not done properly results in death from it's deadly toxin. It's instead the cute and deliciously sweet mochi.
A question about sustainability: here in the Netherlands there have been campaigns to stop people drinking from single use disposable cardboard coffee cups, but I always see Chris drink from them, so I was wondering: is there any such campaign to use sustainable, multi-use cups or thermoses in Japan? Our national train operator is now advertising 330ml thermoses and you get one coffee or tea for free with it. All the best from the Dutch flatlands.
Great podcast gentleman as always. Concerning the Tokyo Subway jingles James May in “Our Man in Japan 🇯🇵” (Prime TV) Episode 3 (26:55 onwards) interviews the jingle writer Mr Minoru Mukaiya-san. I was in Japan in July for the second time (first time was back 1977) travelling around the golden triangle plus Himeji I loved it. We stayed in the Hotel Monterey in Himeji and upgraded to a castle view room and fell asleep looking at the lit up castle! The last three nights in Asakusa we stayed in Ryokan Shigetsu I think in the same room 501! Again I sat in a chair looking at the Sensoji pagoda (my wife just wanted to catch up Taiwanese and Korean operas on her iPad. I had not seen your video before staying there. Loved it too. I am trying to get back soon to go to Lost Bar, can’t believe I saw Himeji, Kyoto, Osaka, Asakusa, Shibuya, Shinjuku, Akihabara, Tokyo Skytree but lost Lost bar. 😂Regards from Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia 🇦🇺.
Sad about mochi but there are lot of foods like popcorn can be rough when older or have swallow issues. Oh for first time parents be careful with hotdogs. The width of hotdogs can shut off wind pipe of a child. Make sure cut into small pieces
The Family Mart jingle gave my unreasonable levels of feels. Can't wait to be back in just over a week! (although the audio is cutting out here on UA-cam, I'm assuming for copyright reasons...)
Chris needs to dress Natsuki up as Trump and get him to record a song called "Like a MAGA". Thats the chorus, and the verses can just be Natsuki calling Trump a twat in his wonderfully incoherent style 😂

wow those tunes really take me back...travelling alone on trains was the best.
4:45 Pete needs to open "Found Bar"
Right next to Lost Bar
Lost and Found would be a great name tbh
Watching your podcasts just adds to the excitement of visiting Japan again next Saturday! The Lost Bar is definitely on our list to visit!
Hope you have a fantastic time! 🎉
Still would rather eat mochi over fugu 🐡
Totally agree, wish the good stuff was more readily available here.
You don't like mochi? I like it now and then, but like once a month.
Oh now I get your comment. I forgot people choke on it sadly...
21:00 was asking for any suggestions better than fridge magnets 😢
Lord Broad is back in Japan.
Return of the king
Awesome train sounds. Takes me right back to the vibe
Just watched the new Wallace and Gromit movie. I thought Pete did a great job playing the Police Chief
That was Peter Kay

Those indoor heaters are a real fire hazard, even with a power surge bank... just tea, beanies and double fleece blanket
I am back from Japan and I am indeed jealous of Pete's soundboard
Hi Chris, went to your bar two-three weeks ago, it is so fucking nice! Well done and congrats!

Naturally!

I fly out to Japan this week. Can't wait to hear the train jiggles and walk light sounds.
Sad about mochi but there are lot of foods like popcorn can be rough when older or have swallow issues.

Perfect timing 🔥

1:59 happy train noises
Now I'm wondering if I am eating mochi wrong, because I never choked on any, not even the slightest bit. 🤣
17:56 - 17:58 Great sound bite.

Shin maranochi building, the bar over looks the tokyo train station. It's nit the roof but it's nice place.
Please do more journey across Japan or wacky weekends
Love the podcast, keen to get some more accurate information on the “rooftop bars” if possible, couldn’t find either of them when googling.
Star Wars Episode 5: The Ozoni Strikes Back
Fridge magnets are called Reizōko-yō magunetto in Japanese.
Death by mochi is what i call natural selection.
JAPANESE train sounds are so polite.
All the jingles are done by ex Casiopea member, a japanese fusion jazz band.
pete really poking the bear asking why china wouldn't let its ai talk about tianamen square lol
Poking the Pooh bear 😂
I heard the meet someone by chance especially close together waS fate. But it was from my mother's people. Old states eastern people.
1500w Pete, anything less and it’s going to be like for the feet at your desk
Sir Pete’s alot
Sounds of Japan... and no Don Quixote song? Ugh.
Feel for English pete being attacked by high winds. For not plains we get lot of wind plus tornadoes and occasional derecho.
Hello. Please tell Pete that he should not download Chinese apps.No need to live dangerously pete.
