    Very cute. Btw, I didn't think the music was too loud, your voice comes over very clear. Loved the bird song as well!

    Hello Julie, UA-cam recommend your Channel and I’m thrilled they did! I really enjoyed watching your video and l was so impressed how you “free styled” the top third of your Bee Skep! I just made my first Bee Skep this morning and l wanted to see if anyone else use the same kind of “Mold” as I did. I made it for my 4-year-old Grandson, he’s suddenly become fascinated with insects especially Bees... Because as he explained to me, “ Bees are nice guys because they make Honey for everybody.”
    I’m a semi-retired professional Pastry Chef for nearly 40 years. I have been downsizing because I sold my business and home after recently becoming widowed. I had several KitchenAid Stand Mixers in various sizes... So, l used a 4 & 1/2 Qt. Bowl from an older mixer. The smaller mixers have bowls with no handles and there’s a 3/4” “lip” at the bottom of the bowl, flipped over it the top of the Bee Skep. It gave a very interesting shape. After, l finished winding all of my Jute, l sealed the entire outside to kinda stiffen it up. I did that so I could use my “X-Acto” Knife to cut an opening. I didn’t watch any videos before l started my Skep and l forgot to make an opening. After, l very carefully cut for nearly 20 minutes, l had an almost perfect circular opening. I then hot glued a piece of Jute (I painted Black) around the opening to frame it out.
    I’m looking for some faux Bees to glue onto my Bee Skep. I FaceTime’d my Grandson so he could see it and he was so incredibly happy and excited! He thanked me profusely and then said, !” I guess because I’m always telling him he’s a good boy. He so funny... He called me back and asked me very politely to make the Bees a sign that read, “Welcome Bees”. I told him Bees couldn’t read. He replied, “I think they can read because they read the recipe to make their Honey!” Seriously, how can I argue with logic like that.
    I immediately subscribed to your Channel and I’m looking forward to watching more of your videos. Thank you so very much for sharing your talents with everyone. ♥️♥️♥️

      Loved your story. And try your suggestion about the mixer bowl. How sweet is your grandson. Yes we owe a lot to the bees .
      My son and I just got a hive, and I thought this would be nice decor to have around because we are a little bee crazy.
      Kind regards 😊

    Hi - I went and read the Article along with the video and wanted to let you know that the 1/2 inch rope is easier to work with in à large skep. I made mine on a kitchen aid mixer 4 quart bowl, up to the top, then took it off and finished it. I then filled it up with plastic bags to give it some stability and finished it with a foam core board base. Thanks for the inspiration. Love PegEgg

    That turned out so sweet my only problem is I was u had showed how u did the hole in the skep. I’ve seen other videos of how to make the cute bee hives but they never made a hole. They used a black marker which to me doesn’t seem real enough. Thanks for sharing.

    • @ThisBeautifulFarmLife
      @ThisBeautifulFarmLife  5 років тому

      True, depending on what kind you use. Our climate is very dry (6" of rainfall a year) so there is no moisture outside to damage it. More than likely it will be the heat or sun! Lol! For now, we are enjoying them on the covered porch!
