😮 Greetings from the coast of Mississippi and Twelve Oaks plantation. I survived Camille and Katrina. To this day, sidewalks leading to nowhere, still haunts me. Our coast is the Jewel of the South ❤
i lived in D'Iberville during Katrina, after my home was destroyed, my family and I moved into our Church, and helped distribute clothes, food, diapers and even hot meals thanks to the generators in the church.
Gulfport smelled of death, it looked like a atom bomb went off. fires started soon after debris dried out. The coroner told me stories you would never want to hear. Drivers of front end loaders moving debris found bodies and couldn't work afterwards. My clothes had to be burned before going home. I volunteered as emergency disaster relief and had PTSD for weeks afterwards. I would come home from work and sit and look at the TV turned off till it was time for bed.
This is an amazing story. But what I can't seem to wrap my head around is why the ppl of Louisiana did not get this same exact help when they needed it also. I never knew Mississippi was hit this hard. I was only 15 when this happened and had no idea it was to this extent. I'm almost 30 and just can't believe what I'm seeing. Bless us all.
@@kitas.8759 I heard that on a lot of stuff I seen. But I refuse to believe a city in so much distress refused help. I don't believe it. But no one knows the truth.
Same iv been wondering that also. And i too was 15 at the time and didn't fully comprehend the magnitude of what happened. Apparently gov of louisiana turned down the presidents offer to bring in military aid, and also turned down many offers of help from different countries, and dif US states, her selfish arrogance caused people a lot of harm and suffering & likely caused more people to die. The other reason theres a big different is that even though louisiana didnt get the same strength winds, when the levees broke they were quickly inundated with tons of water that killed hundreds of people, unlike mississippi where the waters receded quickly and made it possible for rescue crews to help, louisiana's waters had nowhere to go and stunted rescue efforts or aid drops. Not that i think any of this is an excuse for how badly they were treated out in louisiana. It still shocks me how much they suffered
I Remember Hurricane Katrina When I was 12 Back in 2005 We Just Stayed Over Mom's Friend House For 3 Days Til Katrina Move away & The Roads are Clear all The Sudden The City of Hattiesburg is Lost Power So Just Me, My Mom, & My Brother Go Get Some Gas To Stay Somewhere Maybe In Baton Rouge for 5 days til the Power comes back I'll never forget Katrina

Unfortunately, the man from the 2:44 mark is still homeless to this day and I saw him on his bicycle yesterday.
