Test rode this some months ago. It's rly great, accelerates much better and smoother (and much more silent) than even 30 hp ICE scooters. But the price... regen braking overheats very fast, so max speed gets reduced to 95 or so kmh for some time.
Agreed. Part of my test was constant full throttle to full braking to see what happens.. acceleration always perfect, but brakes did start to fade a bit. As I say, decent braking performance until you start expecting to stop as quick as you can accelerate!
Electric scooters seem to be a waste of time unless you're just doing a short commute and can charge the batteries at work. The short range and glacial charging time give them very little flexibility.
@@andrewstorm8240 Depends where you live, I suspect. For inner city use range may not be an issue, which is why electrics are sometimes used by delivery riders in cities. But in a suburban or worse a rural area you'd have issues. Where I live basically everything (nearest city, hospital, airport, etc) is at least a 30-40 mile round trip. Trivial for a petrol scooter, dicey on an electric. And afterwards you have a 4-8 hour charge time before you can use it again.
For £2,838.99 You can get a InMotion V13 Electric Unicycle. Weight: 110 lbs Top Speed: 90 KPH (56 MPH) Max Load: 120 kg (264 lbs) Battery Capacity: 3,024 Wh Range: 200 km (124 miles) Motor: 4,500 W (10,000 W Peak)
Wonder if it takes a while to get used to zipping around on one wheel over two... 124 mile range, but standing up and balancing the whole way. That would be a fun review!
Im very interested in how they are going to do bikes for young people. Obviously at the moment a 16 year old can do cbt and have a 50cc. But i don't see companys really wanting to do super low powered bikes for a young demographic. So would they make the more powerful bike and use a software lock to limit the power and speed. But then what is to stop someone hacking the system to remove the software lock. Will the law change for a motorcycle licence something like A1 E for electric bikes . Like autistic and manual car licence. If you pass in an automatic you cannot drive a manual.
These electric scooters remind me of those electric kids bikes your rich friend had and wouldn't let you ride it, telling you that the batteries are flat. I also don't like the fact that these scooters are extremely quick off the mark and completely silent. Having been knocked off my push bike when I was young, I still have that fear of other road users not only not paying attention to motocycles but even more so silent electric ones. I don't advocate loud pipes saves lives brigade, but there is something to that
Valid concerns. This one in particular was loud at every opportunity (indicators, powering on and off, the alarm if you press the ignition with the side stand down...) but it'll be interesting to see how a city full of electric vehicles would work!
Of course the other thing with the comparison, is that the ice scooter chucks lovely harmful fumes , and ev scooters doesn’t perfect for someone with copd and asthma like me 😊👍😊
The acceleration on this, for a 125cc equivalent, is mind blowing! 🤯
Did well to accelerate to 70 mph with you on board 😂

Hey, I would love to see the full video of the B-Roll footage of the E300SE used in this video.
Which b-roll in particular? The Segway in the BikeMatters studio?
@@BikeMatters Yes, that one. 🙂
We'll see what we can do!
@@BikeMatters Ok cool! 🙂
The problem with new electric bikes and cars is that the manufacturer can always switch off stuff or brick it.

You’re right. Taking this any further than say 20 miles away from a guaranteed charge point is a bit daunting (and therefore a bit limiting)
But do scooters go more than 20miles from home? In London I see them staying close to home

Have patience, save some extra pennies and buy a Vespa
You’ll be happier in the long run.
Few pennies more, but can’t go wrong with a Vespa
Buy an old one from the 70s those things last forever and they cost 600€ in Italy

No sound, no fun, many accidents !! :-)

Good point well made!
Very cool but way too expensive for a small scooter 🛵
Expensive, but it's absolutely rapid... if anyone has the money and likes zooming around with electric power, I'd recommend it!
