That’s because it is the originals. Every witch in that show is powerful but in legacies she is but a teenager learning what her powers are or capable of.
I don’t think they made her seem like a normal witch, she was usually the one saving the day. But I think it’s more about 1- them being taught and told not to use their powers that much, esp in s1 it was more about ‘defensive’ magic than really any powerful spells 2-her being in a school so not wanting to stand out as much etc after learning how to control her magic 3- also we have to remember she’s not being trained by a coven/powerful witch. She’s being taught in a classroom 😂 yes she has Freya who she talks to sometimes but we never see her truly training her (compared to how Freya learned all her magic from Dahlia - one of the most powerful witches ever), so I think in that sense Hope hasn’t honed her magic skills yet to the same extent that her ancestors have etc, and a lot of the time she hasn’t needed to push herself either to use big spells etc (eg Bonnie in tvd was constantly pushed to her limits which is what made her stronger)

Tbf the only reason PARTIALLY nerfed her (because she still has her queen moments in that show) is because it kinda removed all the stakes and seriousness the audience feels for the main character if they can basically just overpower ANY enemy that comes their way. A hero/heroine is only as strong as the villains they defeat

Well half the time on legacies she had at least one syphoner syphoning her. And in season 1 the episode with miss mystic falls she made the whole school shake. And then in season three she really started showing how strong she was but only with moments she couldn’t control after Landon disappeared. But yeah she didn’t do vary many cool strong spells, but she had moments where she couldn’t control her magic. If that counts I think it kinda counts.

That’s because New Orleans witches are stronger than normal witches , and from those strong witches birth prodigies. Prodigies are normal in New Orleans, so she only seems a bit stronger because she’s inexperienced and her magic is undergoing development.
They didmt power her down, before legacies, she had the Hollow in her, which is why she was so volatile with her magic. She has always been above the average which, but she couldnt access the full extent of her powers due to the barriers in place by not activating her tri-brid powers. You also gotta remember, even tho she is a michaelson, she is 2 generations out from her witchy ancestors excluding her aunt, so shes only getting maybe 25%, if that, of the power she would have had if her father hadnt had vampire genes that destroyed and tainted his witch ones.

Back then, she doesn't have vamp speed, just enhanced reflexes due to her werewolf side. Vamp speed is only unlocked in season 4 episode 4
