    I use my 360 nearly every single day and I love it! I clean mine with those Scotch Brite stainless steel scrubbers. For tight spaces, I use a stainless steel brush (looks like a toothbrush). As long as you take a little time after using it to tidy it up a bit, yours will stay shiny too. I also use foil every time as well.

    Your 100% right! Read the instructions! I’m so glad you mentioned someone who’s air fryer smoked. He almost determined the outcome of me buying his brand he was demonstrating. People do your research and more than one persons reviews. I love mine, I have another brand but your info is spot on. Thank you.

    I'm so glad I came across your Tips and Tricks video. And I have subscribed after seeing there is much useful information on various things on your EfficientWay sits. Anyways I have owned my Emeril air fryer for a couple of years and my learning curve has been a process of trial and error. I had intuitively already covered the drip tray with foil but this tip of covering the baking tray also is invaluable. We had company this week and wanted to make baked brussels sprouts and ended up with a lot of smoke of course. Realizing to use this method is a must. Thank you so much.

      Well thank you for the positive feedback and the support for this channel. The goal is to help save others time, money, and frustration. Not only is a smoking air fryer an inconvenience, but any messy clean up in the Emeril Air fryer just takes away from the whole experience. I'm happy and confident you will enjoy the overall experience much more after implementing the tips and tricks for using the Emeril Air Fryer 360. Btw, you may have some baked on grease etc. on the inside already (which can cause smoke each time you use the air fryer). If that's the case, you may want to watch a video I made on how to clean the inside of the Emeril Air Fryer and pretty much the only tool that does the job. There's also one on how to polish the outside (and what to use) to get it to look brand new, like it came out of the box! Then your company will be equally impressed by how it looks, not just how it cooks!! Enjoy and thanks again!

    I love my 360. I cook everything possible in it.The foil thing is a great idea.Will be using it. I wish it still was shiny, but I had a friend house-sitting who used it alot which I told her to use and showed her how I clean after using. It was shiny when I left and upon return I was stunned. She admitted she used it alot and loved it. She left before I seen it. She used it but never cleaned it. Shiny all gone. Tried several things to bring shiny back w/o a good result. But, it still is awesome and works great almost 2yrs now. If it breaks I will get another one immediately. Love your fryer Emeril!!!

      Always good to hear from another Emeril Air Fryer Fan! Using foil will increase your joy as you will save so much of the hassle associated with cleaning the inside of the Emeril Air Fryer 360. You sound very upset about the lack of shine. This is traditionally a week of miracles. Maybe there's one more in store for you this year. Because guess what? I happen to do a video specifically on shining the outside of the Emeril 360 and the product you need to do it!!! It took me almost a year to find a product that worked and I wanted to share this little tip with all the other Emeril owners. So I made a video. Follow my directions closely as the application, etc. makes a difference in the results. The video is on this channel, or you can find it here: ua-cam.com/video/n7mvNdm3Ydc/v-deo.html Happy Frying!

    My favorite line, “if it does smoke it’s your fault”. So true and keeping it clean is absolutely correct I have a ninja fryer and clean everything thoroughly between uses that includes the screen over the heating element!

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  2 роки тому +3

      Maintenance and prevention are definitely key when it comes to keeping an air fryer clean and preventing smoking. It takes discipline to remember and actually do the cleaning in between uses (as you have to wait until the air fryer cools before sticking your hands inside to clean!). So hats off too you for you dedication. It's well worth it in the end as you know. It's much easier to clean and maintain on a regular basis vs. letting the drippings, crumbs, splatters, etc. build up and then trying to remove them. Thank you for the comment and Happy Frying!

    I love the xl360. I bought mine at Walmart 2 years ago for 120.00. Did rotisserie chicken and pork perfectly. Mine still looks brand new on the inside. I wipe it clean after every use. Recommend buying this unit.

      @efficientway  Рік тому

      Indeed, the Emeril 360 Air Fryer is maintained regularly, it can be enjoyable to own. Rotisserie chicken is one of the biggest culprits in terms of making a mess and causing smoking. Would you mind sharing your cooking/setup protocol for using the rotisserie? Do you place the baking tray underneath? Do you use foil? Etc. This would help a lot of current and future owners. Thank you in advance!

    Thank you so much for the great and informative video! 👍🏻. We just purchased this oven and love it so far. I have what might be a stupid question but here goes….is the wire basket to be used ALWAYS when air frying or can the baking sheet also be used for air frying in certain situations? Thanks!!

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  Рік тому +1

      Absolutely you can use the baking tray instead of the air fryer basket when using the "Air Fry" setting. I did that last night when I made falafel because it was just faster and easier to plunk the the wet mixture (EDITED) on top of foil which was lining the baking tray. The obvious difference is that the underside of whatever you are frying will not get as crispy, but you could always flip whatever is on the baking tray as an option. Also, the airflow will be a bit different because air that gets blown underneath the tray will not be able to blow back up all around. It's best to just experiment using both, but in short, food on the tray will still fry up. Not exactly the same way, but nonetheless. One of the biggest reasons you'd want to use the tray instead of the air fry basket is when cooking something that will drip or flake off. The solution to that is using the baking tray as a secondary drip try as I explained in the video and coordinating the movement of both the tray and the fry basket at the same time. I demonstrate this in my latest video where I cook Tyson Air Fried Chicken Tenders. Congrats on your new purchase of the Emeril Air Fryer and welcome to the "Fryers Club"!

      Just perusing the comment section of this video you can learn a lot more in terms of the benefits and shortcomings of the Emeril Air Fryer. As long as you approach the purchase with realistic expectations- i.e. cooking times, the fact that air fried doesn't take like deep fried, the rotisserie function can get messy, etc., I think you'll be happy. In my opinion it is a no brainer in terms of an Emeril over an traditional toaster oven. The Emeril will perform those functions better/more precise and as a bonus, you get all of the other functionality. If you have any specific questions after your due diligence or watching the other videos, please do come back and ask away.

    Is it safe to use this on the patio? I'd like to avoid odors and heat in the house.

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  3 роки тому +1

      I have to tell you... one of the best facets of the Emeril Lagasse Air Fryer 360 is the fact that it does not give off a lot of heat. Especially as compared to a conventional oven. It gives off some, as it has to, but much less than I would have thought. It's on par, and perhaps even less than a toaster oven. Additionally, and perhaps for overlapping reasons (i.e. air is not escaping readily from the unit) the Air Fryer 360 doesn't give off a lot of smell. It's something I noticed the first time I cooked fish in the air fryer. There's a little smell, but again, not like a conventional oven. As far as not giving off a lot of heat, that's why it's great to own/use in the summer. While it is safe to use on a patio, you can't store it outside and expose it to the elements- i.e. moisture, bugs, etc., and the unit is too heavy to carry in and out of the house. Additionally, it would be like a bbq, you'd have to wait until the unit cooled (there are parts that get hot) before you could start handling it. I suppose you could put it on a cart, but then you'd have to store the cart and it seems like an effort. It doesn't seem practical to buy it for the purpose of using it outdoors. I wouldn't hesitate to tell you to try it indoors first. Again, it's not "no heat or no smell", but it's much much less than you'd normally expect (assuming no one like me set your expectations :-)

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  3 роки тому +1

      Good question as that was not addressed in the video or in the comment section yet. Fortunately, by using the tips mentioned in the video, I've avoided any "big" cleanup jobs and I've been able to just use a paper towel with water or a sponge with an abrasive side (also with just water) to clean the inside of the air fryer. Even some rare oil splatters. If you clean the Emeril Air Fryer after each use or within a reasonable time, you should have no issues. Worst case you could use a sponge with a bit of dish soap to help remove grease, but again, you probably won't even need it. On the outside, I've tried a water and vinegar mix to get rid of the finger prints, but it didn't work. As far as what not to use on the inside, I personally try to avoid anything with chemicals in it or bleach. After all, you're cooking your food in there and with the air circulating, you can bet that what's on the walls of the air fryer will get around. Also, some chemicals can become volatile when they are heated, so be very careful. Even oven cleaner because normally that has to "cook off" I THINK (i haven't used it). If anyone has a good product or solution for cleaning the outside of the air fryer/finger prints off the unit, I'd love to hear them.

    Thanks you for this video. Here's my question: I've had my fryer for at least 3 years (know I purchased pre-pandemic). I remember the heating elements coming on at least during the pre-heating cycle. Now....nothing. I cannot remember seeing those elements even lightly glow in forever. Obviously I don't use it much mostly bcs I want my food to brown and It just doesn't do that. Any suggestions? I mostly use Air Fry cycle but even during Broil or Bake those heating elements do not come one. Thanks!

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  2 роки тому

      That's definitely strange. Are you able to cook using the bake function- i.e. does the oven heat up in either mode? What about toast? As a test try putting a piece of bread in the Emeril and set the toast function to 3 pieces. Watch the coils from the moment you press the start button. The Emeril Air Fryer operates a bit differently to a toaster. I've noticed the heating coils are only red for brief periods whereas with a toaster, they display with that red color far more/longer. During the toast test you'll either see the heating elements turn red (even if for a brief moment) and/or the bread will become toasted. If neither of those two things happen, you probably have a fault somewhere. Unfortunately I don't know how to fix it if that is the case, but I would definitely reach out to the company. It's important to watch those elements when you first turn the air fryer on as that's when you're most likely to see them. Let us know, and thank you for the comment.

      @mariasneed7497 2 роки тому

      @@efficientway Thank you so much for your quick reply! As you suggest, I will try the toast option as well as closely watching if the heating elements turn the slightest of red when initiating the Bake or Air Fry options. I will get back to you once I've done these tests. Again, really appreciate how quickly you replied. M

    My toaster oven has a grill plate for grilling that sits over the bottom heating elements. As do you, I line the drip pan that sits below the bottom heating elements and add a thin layer of water to it. Because the pan heats to a temperature that will produce smoke when fat of meat juices hit it, adding the water prevents the opportunity for smoke to be produced.

    Great video! I bought my 360 from Kohl's for $129 during a sale. First one arrived with bent fan and another was sent very quickly without me having to return the first (so I have double the inserts). Closest repair is two hours away. I didn't know if it was safe to use aluminum foil. Thank you for clarifying that perspective. My only problem is keeping it clean from splattered grease. Again, as you said, that is a "me" problem. That's great customer service! Using foil in the Emeril Air Fryer 360 will definitely help keep it clean and make cleaning up a breeze. Just remember apply it tight to the tray and don't allow it to touch the coils. Depending upon what you in the air fry mode, some splattering is unavoidable. To that end, I found a tool that works to remove those hardened on grease and fat splatters. You can find that video on this channel as well as a video that will instruct you on keeping the outside of the Emeril Air Fryer shiny and free of finger prints (and the product you need to do so... it took a long time to find one that works on this stainless steel). • @efficientway
      @efficientway  2 роки тому +2

      I'm glad you found the info reassuring. Just be sure to use the foil correctly and you'll save yourself a lot of time and effort with regard to the cleanup process. It makes using the Emeril Air Fryer joyful vs. the dread of cleaning up hardened grease and dealing with potential smoking issues. I've never used parchment paper and I would be hesitant to do so in the Emeril. In part because I'm not familiar enough with it- i.e. temperatures it can withstand, and how the coating on parchment paper interacts with heat that is so close to it. It's different than using parchment paper in a traditional oven because the paper in an Emeril is often right near the heat source (the heating elements). Another difference is that with foil, I can get a nice tight, secure fit around the drip tray and the baking tray. That's harder to do (if at all possible) with parchment paper. Remember when the blower is on, it can potentially move the parchment paper and you definitely don't want it to rise up and touch the heating elements on the bottom. Thank you for the positive feedback and enjoy your new Air Fryer!

    Can you put the drip trey above the bottom elements? Or does this affect the cooking.

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  3 місяці тому +1

      With the Emeril Power AirFryer 360, it depends on which cooking mode you are using. For example, in the air fry mode, the bottom and top heating elements are only used during the pre-heat stage. During the actual cooking stage, it only uses the side heating element. So you can use the pan as a primary drip tray above the element as I showed in the video. The real or original drip tray has to stay below the heating element, it won't fit properly elsewhere. You can check the owners manual to see which modes use the upper and or lower heating element. In general, there are ways around even if the mode uses the lower element, though it may take a bit longer to cook. For example, the toast function. Though, I've had zero issues toasting and actually prefer the bottom of my bagels not to get too toasted.

    Hi, & thank you for the review, as I am thinking of purchasing this brand 😊 I have a question, I am hoping you can help mw with, as this will be my first AirFryer.......With many recipe's I have, or frozen meals that have suggested cooking times, & temperatures, as would be used in a regular oven, can i use those same heat levels & time, or do I need to adjust?

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  2 роки тому

      For the most part, you'll have to adjust the cooking times. However, as a starting point, the Emeril Air Fryer 360 has default temperature and time settings for each cooking mode. From there, you can "dial it in" to cook the food exactly how you prefer it. An air fryer works more like a convection oven. So even if you compare cooking times and temperatures of a standard oven vs. a convection oven, they will differ. Also, the Emeril Power AirFryer 360 is going to be a lot smaller than the traditional oven you are used to cooking in. So that will change things up a bit too. BUT here's the positive- unlike a conventional oven which can be a lot of guess work and lead to inconsistency (even when making the same meal over and over), the Emeril Air Fryer is great at regulating the internal temperature. And because it is digital and everything is timed down to the second, once you figure out the ideal cooking time and temperatures for the food you like to cook, it will come out the same every time. And its a set it and forget it situation. So there's definitely a bit of trial and error in the beginning, but the effort pays off over the long run. If you decide to purchase an Emeril Air Fryer and you have any questions after trying it, write back and I will get back to you asap!

    My mother just purchased one and she's on the mom's meals program. Is it safe to have frozen or pre prep meals with the plastic and lining film?

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  Рік тому +1

      I would advise NOT putting plastic (hard or film type) in the Emeril Air Fryer. Whether it says microwave safe or not. I personally do not heat or use "microwave safe" plastics in the microwave either, as there are still health concerns associated with doing so. In the case of an Emeril Air Fryer 360, I imagine the plastic could just melt outright. I would recommend transferring the food from the plastic dishes onto the baking tray. Sometimes those frozen meals will slip right out of the plastic direct from the freezer and other times, if you let them defrost for a 10+ minutes, they will slip right out. If she has the time, I always recommend letting the food (any food) defrost as much as you can (time permitting) before cooking it. It helps to cook the food evenly and avoids burning the outside or overcooking the outside, before the inside is ready. Additionally, I think the food tastes better as a result. To aid in the cleanup and make the process easier (which is the goal of the ready-made dishes in the first place), you can consider using foil on the baking tray. It needs to be placed securely/tight to the tray. You may want to show her how to do it.

    • @efficientway

      With the Emeril Airfryer, the various pre-set cook settings will automatically turn the blower on or off. For example in the Air Fry mode, it will turn on automatically. But in the Pizza mode it will not turn on. The same is true of the Roast and Slow Cook functions. The only setting that gets a little tricky is the Bake function. That's where you may have to make a decision "on the fly". For example, I recently re-heated half of a chicken parm sandwich. I used the bake function, but since I didn't want the bread to get extra toasty or toast before the chicken was heated, I turned off the blower. In general, if you have the blower on, food will cook faster (as it does in a traditional convection oven), but it also gives food a texture... like on its way to crisping up. I won't use the word crisp because that's a function of how long you cook it for. There's definitely a difference between baking with the blower on and the blower off, but since that difference is the texture and overall amount of time it takes to cook, it's hard to describe that difference in words. So in short, luckily you won't have to decide too often as far as whether to use the blower or not. In the Air Frying mode, it never really makes sense not to use the blower because the heat (after it's done pre-heating) will only come from the right hand side element. Without the blower, the food will not cook evenly, let alone properly. It definitely won't "fry" or crisp up without the blower. I hope this helps. Thank you for the positive feedback btw, I do appreciate it.

    • @efficientway

      That's exactly where the bulk of the grease splatters in the Emeril Air Fryer 360 end up- right around the fan (the ride side). I mention that in previous comments and I show that in an upcoming video I'm in the middle of editing. The video details how to clean the inside of the air fryer and focuses on those hardened, super difficult grease splatters. I show how and what "tool" to use to remove them. Most of the time I'm not cooking "super juicy" things that create the really bad splattering (most air fried foods/recipes don't), but I was recently making beef burgers from scratch and I left the oven for a couple of days (versus cleaning it that night). Since it's a really popular question/topic I decided to film the cleaning process and share some cleaning tips. In order for viewers to understand where the splatters came from and how they developed, I released a really short video of the beef burgers being made. So that got released first and now I have to edit the cleaning video. Sorry for the wait, but it will be worth it because almost nothing works on those hardened grease splatters. I don't recommend cleaners or chemicals. I will reply to this thread when it comes out or please check in at the end of the week. I'm glad you're enjoying the oven and thank you for the compliment! Enjoy

    What's the procedure what to do before putting any food into the 360 what about that manufacturing oil there

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  Рік тому +1

      If there's any physical oil from the manufacturer that you can remove, start with dry paper towels and begin to wipe the insides of the Emeril Air Fryer 360 (with the accessories still outside) and the heating elements. Be careful when handling the heating elements. Be gentle.
      The accessories too should be cleaned or soaked in the kitchen sink with dish washing soap like Palmolive or Dawn. Then, still with the accessories removed, run the oven on "Bake" mode for about 20-40 mins or so at 400 degrees. You can press the "fan" button (which is the first one below the selector knob) so that you turn off the fan. This should burn off any excess oil. You may experience a little smoke and an unpleasant smell. That is normal. After that, AFTER the oven has cooled down, wipe the insides and the heating elements with damp (not wet) paper towels. You should be good to go after this.

    I bought a new one (totally clean) and tried a rotisserie chicken which created smoke like a forest fire. Of course nowhere in the manual did it warn me of that or provide instructions to that end. Your video is really good and well thought out, thanks. But my concern is after adding the shelf and then a foil covered tray that room for the rotisserie chicken is cut short. Can you elaborate?

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  Рік тому +1

      The wire rack will be placed in slot #6- all the way on the bottom of the Emeril. It will sit just above the lower heating elements. The tray (with foil tightly folded on top) will sit on the wire rack. All in, you will probably lose less than an inch of space. You will also lose the direct heat from the lower elements, so cook time will take longer. But you'll be protecting the heating elements from direct exposure. This will help with the smoking problem, but more importantly keep your elements clean. If you get dried up oil or fat on them, they could smoke and smell the next several times you use the Emeril. The tray itself can get very hot too as an FYI. The rotisserie function on the Emeril Air Fryer 360 gives the most trouble to owners. Exposing the lower heating elements to dripping chicken or meat is a terrible design. To be fair, the use of foil on the original drip tray and the baking tray are a better solution to air frying droppings (oils, crumbs, fat drippings, etc.) from the air fry basket vs. the rotisserie. It's also the perfect solution for a faster and easier cleanup when cooking beef, chicken, fish, veggie burgers, or literally anything on the baking tray directly. Other users (or members of the "Fryers Club" as I like to call them), have offered some of their own solutions to the rotisserie problem in this comment section. It's worth perusing through to see how they handle it. But take solace in knowing you are not the only one to experience issues. Thank you for the comment and happy frying!

    How do you clean the elements if they get grease on them … soap and water, any particular brand?

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  Рік тому

      I've been fortunate in that so far I have avoided grease, fat, and cheese drippings from landing on the lower heating elements using the suggestions in the video. If it were me, I'd first try exactly what you said- dish soap such as Palmolive or Dawn. Moisten a paper towel, apply the dish soap and run it over the lower elements. Leave it on there for a good 10 minutes to let it do its job of cutting the grease. Then use a moist (not too wet) sponge (the type that has one rough side and one sponge side- like the Scotch Brite green and yellow) and use the rough side to remove the grease. After that, use a moist paper towel (clean) to remove any leftover soap and loose grease. If that doesn't work, you can attempt to use the tool I mention in my other video "how to clean the inside of an Emeril Air Fryer 360". Use it very gently as it's more abrasive than the sponge. If it doesn't look/feel right using it, abort the mission.

      I might have been referring to the same passage you read, as far as the recommendation not to use foil in the Emeril Air Fryer 360. However, I have been using foil successfully in my Emeril Air Fryer without issues since I got it. You can also see me cooking with the Emeril Air Fryer with the use of foil inside at the start, in the middle and at the end of all my videos featuring the Emeril (there are many). In addition to that, if you look in the comment section of this video, you will find many other Emeril owners who successfully use aluminum foil in their Emeril Air Fryer. NOTE: you do need to use it properly and I outlined how in the video and in great detail in many of my responses within this comment section (to other viewers). If it is used incorrectly, I'm sure it could cause an issue. Please take the time to review these notes so that you too can benefit from the use of foil. It is very helpful and a game changer as far as the cleanup process (which is the biggest pain point for most owners).

      Do note that sometimes you can get splatter inside the openings of the fan and there's no great solution for that without taking apart the Emeril (as one viewer did by accident). If you're interested, I also made a video on how to polish and clean the outside of the Emeril (it took a year of experimenting to find a product) to remove the finger prints and water marks. When I put it on airfare it automatically preheats, then when it is done preheating and I open the door to put my food in its starts preheating all over again and the timer starts going like it is cooking. I have not had much success with this oven. Toast takes seems to take longer than in an a toaster. Have you ever cooked eggs n it?

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  Рік тому

      Not to worry, it's an easy fix. You're meant to put the food into the Emeril Air Fryer first, then hit the start button and allow the oven to pre-heat while the food is in there. As soon as it reaches the required temperature, the oven will automatically start working in the setting you've chosen (in your case- the air fry mode). With your current process, each time you open the oven door to put the food in, there's an exchange of air and the temperature inside the oven is falling below the required temperature setting. So it then has to pre-heat again to get it up to the exact temperature, before starting the normal cooking process. That is ultimately the beauty of the Emeril Power Air Fryer 360- it is extremely precise, in terms of temperature and the ability to control the timing down to the second. As far as the toast function, depending upon how many slices you set the oven for, and the desired level of "toastiness" or how brown you want whatever you are toasting, the default time setting will change. You can get your toast exactly how you like it and it will come out the same every time, due to the preciseness of the temperature and timing that the Emeril affords. I don't think it takes any extra time to toast in an Emeril vs. a conventional toaster oven in my experience. Play around with the settings and see. I have never cooked eggs in the Emeril air fryer. I don't think it would differ much from cooking eggs in a conventional oven if you're using the "bake" mode if that's how you like your eggs cooked. With a little experimenting, I think you'll come to enjoy and appreciate the Emeril for what it is. It's not perfect, but it's a useful kitchen tool and certainly better than a traditional toaster oven.

    You are supposed to place the black tray at the bottom over the elements! When air frying these elements are not on. Did you throw the drip tray away?

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  2 роки тому

      By black tray I assume you mean the baking tray (mine is silver fyi) vs. the original drip tray. I love that you are innocently espousing the same ideas and tips I mention in the video and repeatedly in this comment section. It gives my writings more credibility! I've reiterated exactly what you've mentioned about the lower elements not working while using the air fry mode, except to pre-heat the oven before it starts, as part of the reasoning why it's not a good idea to use the baking tray as a first line of defense drip tray, but also why it's safe to use foil on that tray when doing so. Did I throw away the drip tray? Nope, in the video you see it with the foil on at the very bottom. Btw... if you somehow mean to say that the "real" drip tray is supposed to reside on top of the heating elements all of the time, that is incorrect. There's a special/specific slot below the elements where it's supposed to permanently stay (as I have it in the video). It was designed that way because other Emeril Air Fryer cooking modes, like bake and toast for example, do you use the lower heating elements. But I think perhaps you're using the term baking tray and drip tray interchangeably. You can see how I use the baking tray in different positions in several of my Emeril Air Fryer videos. If you know for a fact that you were supposed to receive two air frying baskets with your Emeril, I would contact the seller. At the end of the day, the Emeril Air Fryer is only optimized to use one basket at a time anyway (despite what you see in the infomercial). It is physically possible to use two baskets at the same time, but the cooking time will increase substantially.

    How do you know what temperatures are time to do different things. Is it basically the same as even or stove top?

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  2 роки тому

      Cooking with an air fryer is a bit different to cooking on a stove top or even using a conventional oven. Ultimately a lot of the initial cooking will be trial and error, but as a starting point, the different cooking functions/modes have default times and temperatures associated with them. From there you can "dial it in" for whatever you are cooking and for exactly how you like it cooked (i.e. the wellness of your meat or the crispiness of your vegetables). TAKEN FROM AN EARLIER REPLY I wrote to another viewer: "An air fryer works more like a convection oven. So even if you compare cooking times and temperatures of a standard oven vs. a convection oven, they will differ. Also, the Emeril Power AirFryer 360 is going to be a lot smaller than the traditional oven you are used to cooking in. So that will change things up a bit too. If the default settings on the Emeril are insufficient, you can always use the suggested temperatures and cooking times on packages and recipes as a starting point. It's easy to add additional cooking time to the Emeril by turning the dial.

    Do you use oil for your potatoes to make french fries? And do you air fry pizza to reheat it or bake it on 250?

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  3 роки тому

      I do spray my French fries with oil. How much depends on how healthy I want to be LOL! It's a trade-off between crispier French fries (that taste more like "real" deep oil fried Fries) and eating healthy (by cutting back on oil, which is a big part of why one would cook with an air fryer to begin with). If you do spray your potatoes, it's best to spray them on both sides. It helps prevent them from sticking to the air fry basket and it obviously makes them nice and crisp on the outside while still soft on the inside. I start with frozen pizza, often from Wholefoods (just to give you a reference for size). Sometimes I leave it to defrost for a bit and other times I just stick it straight into the Emeril Air Fryer. I use the default "pizza" setting which sets the unit to 445 degrees for 19 minutes. I don't think it's ever needed the full 19 minutes. The cheese will always start to get just a bit brown on top. At that point I take it out. It results in a fairly soft crust, but I like it that way. Everyone likes their pizza a bit different so I would experiment. I don't recommend cooking frozen pizza in the air fry mode because when you use the air fry mode, the blower operates. The frozen shredded cheese bits can start to fly around the inside of the air fryer! Even when you place the pizza in the air fryer you need to be careful with those lose bits of shredded cheese. The foil I use inside prevents any major cleanups in the even any cheese drops off.

I think having the legit shape of a French fry in your mouth (by using a french fry cutter- I did a video on one) goes a long way for the French fry sensation/experience that one tries to replicate using non-deep fried French fries.

      @@cseedbead8180 Thank you for that positive feedback! As far as the chicken wings, there is a fine line between getting that desired level of crispiness and drying out the food you're cooking. I've done it with fish and chicken. Although it takes a bit more effort, one thing to try is carefully flipping the food midway through the cooking time. It can be a pain because you need to pull out the crisping tray (which is very hot) and breading, etc. can fall through when doing so. Also, rotate the crisping tray so that the food that was on the right side of the oven is now on the left. Food on the left side closest to the left wall tends to cook/burn quicker. I believe this is due to the fact that gets a "double hit" of the hot air. Once when it passes over from the right side of the oven where it originates, and then again as the hot air bounces off the left wall and hits that food again. Also, although this runs counter to the health benefits of air frying, the reality is, the more spray oil you use, the crispier the food comes out. The Emeril Air Fryer 360 comes with a cook book, but I found that the time required is way longer than what's stated in the recipes. As far as a group, you'll see me half joke about the "Fryers Club" in this comment section. It's a take on the original Friars Club. But I would love for Emeril owners to continue to share their recipes and tips in this section. Many have done so already and you can peruse through some of the comments. Also, on this channel, I have some other Emeril Videos you may find useful including a polish I found (after a looong trial and error period) that restores the outside of the Emeril to "out of the box" new. It removes finger prints and water marks. Enjoy and welcome to the "Fryers Club"!

    I like your style of reporting, however, I have heard that you are not supposed to use foil in the oven for lining trays, it causes overheating. There are oven liners on Amazon that are washable. ?? what do you think?

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  3 роки тому

      Thank you for the compliment, I appreciate the feedback. As far as using foil in the Emeril Air Fryer 360 (I can't speak to other air fryers), I've never not used foil in my Emeril (and I use it regularly)! This is a common topic/question, so in various other replies to fellow Air Fry enthusiasts :-) I've written extensively on why it can be used, how I use it, why I believe the company puts their disclaimer/warning out there, the logic or rather illogic behind the recommendation, where in the Emeril air fryer I use foil, the difference using foil makes, and more. I also have a few other videos on this channel where you can see the Emeril in action, with foil both on the drip tray and the baking tray- yes at the same time!! lol And to this day, no issues.
      UA-cam seems to sort the comments in a different/random order, so I urge you to please take a look at some of my previous comments for more details. I will share, and please note, that when it comes to using foil on the drip tray specifically (vs. the baking sheet), you do need to be careful how you place it/arrange it (avoiding the heating coils) and I go into detail in the other comments. I will also note, as I've mentioned in the past, I don't think I would use my Emeril air fryer if I couldn't use foil. The cleanup after each use would just not be worth it. Not to mention, if grease or other food items were to hit the lower heating coils, your air fryer could start smoking (thus in part, why I made this video- to help people avoid that scenario). I have a separate video showing how and what to use in order to clean the inside of an Emeril. But I couldn't imagine trying to clean up the grease, oils, crumbs, etc. from the drip tray or the baking sheet each time. I wouldn't do it with my old toaster oven either. Anyway, if you have any questions/thoughts after reading the detailed previous replies, write me back and I will do my best to address them. Thanks again!

    Thanks for helpful video. I'm on the fence for this Emiral 360. My concern is the whole chicken Rotisserie. Some people said it won't fit a regular 5lbs chicken on the pit. What was your experience? Please comment. Thank you

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  2 роки тому +2

      I do think you could experience issues negotiating a 5lb chicken into and out of the Emeril (especially if it isn't trussed really tight/well). Additionally, with such a large chicken, the odds of the chicken drippings hitting the lower heating element are increased. Unfortunately, because the unit uses both the lower and upper heating elements in the rotisserie mode, it renders the rotisserie function "risky" from a smoking point. It can and has been done without smoking (as a result of grease or fat oil hitting the lower element), but there also some who report experiencing this problem. As much as I am a fan of the Emeril, if your primary purpose for purchasing one is to use the rotisserie function, I would have to advise against. Especially if you need to cook large chickens or pieces of meat. I've given some suggestions in other comment replies that might work for the rotisserie (i.e. using the baking tray and foil to protect and block the heat from the lower coil), but I have not tried them all yet, so I can't be sure they will work. I can tell you that with just about every other function you can take steps to avoid smoking, but again, if size is an issue, the potential for smoking is a moot point anyway. Thank you for the positive feedback. I know it's not the answer you may have wanted to hear, but it is the honest one.

    Hi. Will it run as a broiler, using just the top 2 elements? Looks pretty good to replace my simple air fryer.

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  2 роки тому

      Indeed... the Emeril Power Air Fryer has a broil function as well as several other cooking functions which makes it a great kitchen appliance. Not only was I able to get rid of my toaster oven, but the Emeril Air Fryer actually does a better job of toasting and cooking. I haven't used enough stand alone air fryers to say the Emeril is the best air fryer, but as you point out, the idea that it can perform all the other functions, in addition to air frying, made it a "no brainer" decision for me. Using it as an oven (even without the air flowing) has several advantages over a traditional, larger conventional oven. So I definitely think you'll end up using several of the Emeril cooking functions once you buy it (even if you originally buy it with the intention of only using a couple of its functions like the broiler and air fryer).

    I was told you can stack when on air fry setting. Can you put burger patties in slot 2 and the fries in slot one when on air fry or is it better to do everything separately?

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  2 роки тому +1

      This is a bit of a two part answer... If my memory serves me correctly, the infomercial for the Emeril Lagasse Power Air Fryer 360 does show stacking. They show two different racks being used (or at least they imply it since we never really see it cooking). However, as far as air frying specifically is concerned, there is only one ideal rack position- Level 2. If you place the air fry basket on that level, you'll see the rack sits directly in the middle of the blower on the right side (which is where the heat and air for air fry mode come from). Having said that, in your particular case, with French Fries and burger patties, I think you could theoretically cook both (I haven't personally tried to do so). You would have to put the patties on the lowest level, Level 6! Don't worry that it's sitting almost directly on top of the lower heating elements because in the air fry mode, the only time the lower elements are on is when the air fryer is pre-heating. The burger patties will receive a bit of air, but not as much as they would on a higher level. Technically, they don't really need to be perfectly air fried, they just need to be cooked. Do note that in my video where I cook 4 beef burgers, I did place them in the higher rack and the air fry mode added a bit of texture (similar to what you'd get if you grilled). Here's the caveat... the timing will most likely be different for both compared to what it would be if you cooked them separately, and also in comparison to each other. What I mean is, the French fries are likely to need much more time than the burgers and by opening the oven to take out the burgers, you're letting some heat out. Not a big deal, but it affects the total cooking time. My recommendation would be to try cooking the burger patties and French fries separately the first time so you know what they should both ideally taste like. Then you can experiment and try both at the same time and you'll either find it acceptable or not in terms of taste/texture. Also, you'll see if it really saves time or not. Good question btw.... it hasn't come up yet so thanks for asking and if you try it, let us know what you think in comparison.

    Since you are putting the pan on the bottom over the heating unit with foil, (which I am going to do as well) do you need to flip the chicken halfway through now?

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  3 роки тому +1

      I'm not sure which chicken recipe you're referring to, but if you're making chicken in the air fryer basket and you have the baking pan on the lowest level (to catch crumbs, etc.) then in theory you don't need to flip the chicken. The air will will reach the underside of the basket. In practice, if you flip the chicken, both sides will come out equally crispy, versus when you don't and the side on top comes out more crispy. The baking tray on the bottom doesn't factor in too much because the heating coil on the bottom doesn't actually work while using the air fry mode. I briefly mentioned in the video, the bottom coil will turn on when you start the air fry mode, but only to pre-heat the oven. Once the air fryer reaches the desired temperature it shuts off and only the coil on the right side of the Emeril (along with the fan) will work. If you're referring to a different chicken cooking method (if I didn't answer your question), please let me know and I will do my best to write back and explain. Thanks P.S. if you re-spray the chicken after flipping it, it will arguably come out even crispier, BUT doing both (flipping and spraying) can become messy (since you have to pull the air fryer basket out and "disturb" the chicken) depending upon what type of bread crumbs or batter you are using. And if you are going to spray, make sure you take the basket all the way out of the oven. You don't want to spray any type of cooking oil inside the oven.

    How do you keeps your wire basket clean? I have tried everything.

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  2 роки тому

      Cleaning the wire air fry basket is certainly a PITA! What I found works best for me is a multi-step approach. It starts with using the spray nozzle on the side of my sink. I turn the hot water on to full pressure and blast away at the basket (aiming at any particles stuck on). That tends to do a lot of the "heavy lifting". After that you need to attack the oils/grease. If you use the soft side of a sponge, you will tear up your sponge. So you either have to use the scrubber side (if you don't have those sponges they are very useful in general- here it is on sale: amzn.to/3nLYLGy ). Or you can use a good paper towel with hot dish soap and water and gently go over the basket. After that, you may have to go over it with a dry paper towel (with it being dry, it's more abrasive and can clean any leftover bits). If you don't have a hand held spray nozzle in your sink, I imagine a dishwasher would work just as well. I have not looked into whether the basket is dishwasher safe and I've never used it in the dishwasher, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. Also, they say "a good defense is your best offense" or something like that. So, first, make sure you're coating the basket before putting anything in it that will stick (or make sure the food item is well coated). Second, I've noticed that natural spray avocado oil seems to clean up/come off easier than PAM cooking spray. Avocado oil has the added benefit over olive oil in that it has a much higher smoke point vs. most other oils. The Whole Foods brand is relatively inexpensive compared to others: amzn.to/3If3ybg Make sure you're using a good dish soap as they will help make the task easier by removing the grease and oil easier. Hope this helps!

      I'm not familiar with that particular brand of dishes/bowls, but my understanding is that as long as the bowl you are using states "oven safe" (sometimes there's a stated temperature limit, generally not), it should be ok to use inside the Emeril Air Fryer 360. As a rule of thumb, if you can't/wouldn't put it in your conventional oven, or you don't know for certain whether it is considered "oven safe", don't use it in the Emeril.

    • @efficientway

      The air fryer does get very hot to the touch. Even the glass door gets extremely hot so you must be careful. I'm not sure exactly how long it takes to reach the high temps, but remember they air fryer mode won't start the cooking process until the oven is pre-heated to the desired temperature. So even though you are 3 minutes into the air fry mode, the oven has already been heating up. Although it requires caution, this isn't too crazy when you consider how hot a conventional oven or toaster oven gets. I've ruined the outside of plenty of toaster ovens and Ziplock bags that are somehow attracted to each other (not really, I'm joking!!) because toaster ovens get very hot to the touch too. Amazingly though, I don't think the Emeril Air Fryer actually emits a lot of heat. Certainly not like or compared to a conventional oven. That is why I prefer to use my Emeril in the hotter, summer months. Also, remember that in the air fry mode or whenever the blower is on, hot air is blowing all around the oven. If you just have the top and bottom heating elements on (like in bake mode), the sides may not get as hot relatively speaking.

      So a couple of more tips when using the Emeril Air Fryer 360.... When you can (time permitting), I always recommend defrosting whatever you are cooking for as long as possible (or until it is fully thawed). This will allow the food to cook more evenly from the inside out and will help avoid overcooking and burning the outside, before the inside has properly cooked. Second, when it comes to the Emeril, specifically in the Air Fryer mode, everything takes longer than the Emeril cookbook suggests and longer in general than you would intuitively think. Until you get used to the Emeril, it's best to work in increments... you can keep restarting the Power Air Fryer and leave it cooking until you deem it "done". Lastly, it's best to manage expectations with regard to the air fry mode and just know that it won't taste exactly like pan fried because you're not using the same amount of oil if any at all. It's a different process. The Emeril Air Fryer definitely takes some trial and error/ getting used to. The other functions like bake, toast, pizza, etc. are a lot more straightforward. Welcome to the "Fryers Club" and Enjoy!

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  2 роки тому

      On the Emeril Air Fryer 360 it looks easy enough to remove a bunch of accessible screws that seem to be holding a right, sidewall panel that covers the fan. BUT, the heating elements (4 of them- two on top, two on the bottom) run through that panel. I suspect those elements are then attached to something behind that panel that we can't see. So it's not clear that you could just unscrew the screws and slide the panel to the left (so that it kind of temporarily rests on all the elements), or that we should even be messing with the elements at all. Certainly don't touch anything without unplugging the Emeril first. I don't have a great answer for you, but other Emeril owners have been great about sharing their own tips, tricks, and recipes so hopefully one of them does (and will share it here). I'm sorry I could not be of more help on this matter. I did make a video where I share the one tool that makes getting the caked on grease and oil drippings off the sides of the Emeril 360 a breeze. If you haven't seen that one, it may be helpful to you for cleaning the rest of the Emeril. P.S. I also did a video on polishing and shining the outside of the Emeril. There are so many other cooking modes you can take advantage of. The truth is, the rotisserie can cause a big mess and if the oil, fat, and juice drippings aren't addressed properly, it can cause the air fryer to start smoking. So you're not missing out on a ton. Enjoy the air fryer and enjoy the toast function. Those are the two best features in my opinion.

      As far as cleaning your Emeril Air Fryer 360, I made a video on the cleaning process and the "tool" you need to get rid of the "baked on", tough to remove grease and oil that gets stuck to the sides of the air fryer. You can watch that video here: ua-cam.com/video/HI4xTkU1q4U/v-deo.html
      As far as cooking times and temperatures, I've found that a decent amount of experimentation is needed. That's because the recommended cook times found in the Emeril Air Fryer cookbook (mine came with the unit) are not long enough to cook the food appropriately. The default times and temperatures for each mode, i.e. air fryer, toast, bake, etc. are good starting points. I would start on the conservative side time wise (temperature isn't as big of a deal) because you can always add additional cook time to whatever you are making. You'll have to watch your food and check on it after a reasonable amount of time. Perhaps a few times. When I first started using the air fryer I would stand in front of the Air Fryer 360 window and watch the food cook in the air fry mode. I'd watch for 10 minutes at a time just to see how it cooks, how it crisps up, how long it takes to change levels of "crispiness", etc. Some of the comments on this video include viewers who posted their own recipes/cook times/temperatures and I encourage others to keep doing the same as it's clearly helpful for people who are just getting used to the Emeril Air Fryer.

    MY MAIN QUESTION IS CAN I USE IT LIKE I WOULD A MICROWAVE OVEN JUST TO BASICALLY HEAT THINGS UP STEAMABLE VEGETABLES AND MICROWAVE DISHES??

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  2 роки тому +1

      To be clear, the Emeril Lagasse Power Air Fryer 360 does not have a microwave function or microwave technology. However, you can use the Emeril Air Fryer to heat things up. You just won't be "microwaving it." You'll be heating or cooking food the same way you would in a conventional oven (but faster) or toaster oven (when it's in bake mode). So you won't be able to steam vegetables the way you can in a microwave, but you could cook frozen or fresh vegetables in the air fryer, the same way you could cook frozen or fresh vegetables in a large ,regular gas or electric oven. Note: the air fryer will cook and heat food faster than a conventional oven. There are several other modes on the Emeril Air Fryer besides "air fry".. including bake, reheat, toast, rotisserie, pizza, and more. Does this answer your question? If not, let me know and I will try to delve into more detail. In the meantime, thank you very much for the positive feedback!

      Yes, you can use the Emeril Air Fryer 360 to brown your meat. I suggest turning off the blower if you want to prepare meat this way. You can set the time and temperature very precisely so once you figure out the right combo to make your meat the way you personally like, you can replicate it every time you prepare the same dish- i.e. the exact level of browning you prefer.

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  3 роки тому +1

      First, when it comes to Air Fryers and cleaning (Emeril Lagasse's or any other brand) the old saying "a good defense is the best offense" holds true. That's why I recommended a few tips in the video that will help avoid a lot of cleaning up. There will be times when some oil or grease gets around the inside walls of the air fryer, and it is best to address those instances right after the oven cools down (so as not to burn yourself). In other words, don't let it go for days or worse, let it build up. If you do that, a simple paper towel or worst case, a sponge that has a rough side to it (they're usually yellow or blue) and some hot water, will be enough to remove any splatters. You can also use a touch of dish soap when it's called for. I personally try to avoid anything with chemicals in it or bleach. After all, you're cooking your food in there and with the air circulating, you can bet that what's on the walls of the air fryer will get around. Also, some chemicals can become volatile when they are heated, so be very careful. But again, regular maintenance, plus using the foil, drip tray, removing the air fry basket at the same time as you pull out the drip tray (simultaneously) because often stuff falls out from the basket after it's done cooking and you're removing it from the oven. It's a bit of an art, but it beats cleaning up all those crumbs!

      Interesting. Are you cleaning it with something abrasive or a cleaning product that is abrasive (like Soft Scrub)? Either way that's disappointing and I'm sorry you experienced that. Welcome back to the Fry Club! Thank you for sharing the results of the temperature test with your own thermometer. That hasn't been mentioned in the comments yet, and it should give others on the fence about buying an Emeril Lagasse Power Air Fryer 360 a bit more confidence as far as quality. The Emeril Air Fryer's ability to maintain the exact temperature setting is what makes it unique compared to a conventional oven or toaster oven (which tend to fluctuate more). That ability allows you to cook food exactly how you like it (once you get it all dialed in) consistently. Enjoy!

    I've had my airfryer 360 about 2 yrs. Went to use it this AM to make toast and it would not turn on. I thought maybe was the plug. I tried another plug and still nothing. I plugged something else into the plugs and they worked. Anyone have the airfryer just quit? It's like it is not getting any power. A power surge could certainly damage the Emeril Power Air Fryer 360. I have mine plugged into a proper surge protector (not all are equal or even good- I have a whole video on choosing a surge protector). Outside of that, it's rare for the unit to just quit like that. If you've already unplugged the air fryer and let it sit for a few minutes before plugging it back in, that would have given it an opportunity to reset. So that's out. I'm sorry to hear you had to come home to this. Unfortunately you may need a new one. If you find a resolution to the issue, please do let the rest of the community know. Good luck

    How do you you clean your system so clean. I like my 360 Air Fryer. But I try everything on it to clean it

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  3 роки тому +1

      I take on the task of keeping my air fryer clean by approaching it on different levels. First, as I mentioned and showed in the video, I use aluminum foil (without any issues) to avoid having to clean up big messes and deal with crumbs. I also try to clean the inside of the air fryer as soon as it's physically possible (you have to wait for it to cool). I try to clean the inside after each use. If you let the splatters of grease and other things build up, it will be a trying task to remove it as multiple layers of grease and grime are obviously worse and harder to clean. Most of the time a bit of warm water on a paper towel will work to clean the inside of the air fryer. Sometimes the abrasive side of a sponge that has two sides (they're usually blue or yellow sponges) with a dot of dish soap will work when the paper towel does not. And finally, for the tough grease that even your finger nail can not remove/scratch off, I have a special "pad" I use. It's the only thing that seems to work without scratching the inside and causing a big mess like a typical Brillo pad. I'll try to get a video out this week showing it in use and I will reply to this comment with a link to the video. In general, unless you're cooking meat (which ends up with juices/oil splattering), most food doesn't cause a big mess or splattering. BUT a lot of food/crumbs can drop to the floor of the air fryer or cheese can melt, sauces can drip, etc. So using that foil is key in my opinion (I have stated in other comments my theory on why the company recommends not using foil on the drip dray re: the heating coils). A lot of food you make in the air fryer 360 don't even require the fan (which is in large part what causes the splattering).

      That's odd. Does it do that on all modes- i.e. "bake", "air fry" "toast", etc.? Does the timer start at some reasonable amount of time? How long after you press start does it shut off... i.e. 2 seconds later, instantly, a few minutes? It could be something like the internal temperature gauge malfunctioning or being broken- it may not know how hot it is inside, or something with the timer, etc. It's probably best to email customer service with the exact details (with answers to the above) and hopefully they can help you troubleshoot it. Great video! How you ever cooked a whole sweet potato in your air fryer?

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  2 роки тому +1

      I haven't made a whole sweet potato in the Emeril air fryer, but I have made sweet potato French fries. They taste delicious! They are much healthier this way. Even when I used to cook sweet potatoes in my regular conventional oven, I would stick a fork in the raw potato (to make small holes), then stick it in the microwave for a bit to soften it enough to be able to cut it into slices (like steak fries). I always thought the extra crispiness sweetened the sweet potato even more!! With the air fryer, you can achieve the same goal even quicker and it comes out better. I even bought a French fry cutter as fries come out so well and healthy in an air fryer. If you just want a common old baked potato, the only advantage of the air fryer (you'd probably use the bake mode with the blower on) would arguably be the speed at which you could cook it compared to a conventional oven (it should be a bit quicker) and it won't heat up the kitchen as much as conventional oven would. But if speed is a concern, you'd probably use a microwave instead. Thank you for the positive feedback in your comment. I appreciate it.

    can you air fry more than one item at a time like frys and chicken

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  2 роки тому

If you had two air fry baskets (the Emeril only comes with one, but you can purchase separately), you could attempt to put one in a lower position. The benefit of the air fry basket is it allows the underside of the chicken or whatever you're cooking to get exposure to the air. You can still air fry without a basket, but you'd have to flip the chicken or whatever you're frying over mid-way through cooking to get the bottom. Also, the bottom tray or second air fry basket would not be located exactly in the middle of the blower (like the first basket would be). So here's the caveat... the timing will most likely be different for both compared to what it would be if you cooked the chicken and fries separately, and also in comparison to each other. What I mean is, the French fries are likely to need much more time than the chicken assuming they are in the lower position. Not a big deal, but it affects the total cooking time. My recommendation would be to try frying the chicken and French fries separately the first time so you know what they should both ideally taste like. Then you can experiment and try both at the same time and you'll either find it acceptable or not in terms of taste, texture, and total cooking time.

      Currently, the Emeril Air Fryer 360 does not have a microwave function. However, since it's a convection oven, it will cook faster than a conventional oven. A microwave will heat food faster than an air fryer, but as you know, there's a big difference as far as how food turns out after being cooked in a microwave vs. a traditional oven. The Emeril Lagasse Power Air Fryer 360 (not to be confused with other air fryers) has 4 hard plastic legs at the bottom of the unit. So the unit sits on these 4 legs which are about an inch tall and there's one in each corner. So the unit itself does not touch the surface. I've gone into more detail in some of the replies earlier this week that you can view as a resource too, but in short- yes you can use foil on the Emeril Air Fryer 360 on certain parts. It can be used on the drip tray as long as the foil doesn't touch the heating coils. Make it a tight fit. It can be used on the baking tray as well- but make it a tight fit so it doesn't fly around or flap in the air fryer when the fan is turned on. While foil can theoretically be used in the air frying basket, the basket and the air frying concept will not work as designed if you do so. The foil will block the hot air from reaching the underside of the food you're cooking and it will disrupt the flow of air. If you place foil on it, it will essentially act/replicate using the baking tray. So if you needed two levels of baking trays, you could use that instead. Keep in mind, when I make my veggie burgers, I use the baking tray, with the air fryer mode (not the air frying basket) and they come out perfect. So there are no set rules.. i.e. you can only use the air fryer mode with the basket. You just have to know/understand how the unit will perform. In the case of the veggie burgers, I don't want them completely air fried all around.

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  2 роки тому +2

      With so many cooking modes, the Emeril Air Fryer 360 is like the Swiss Army knife of air fryers. And for that reason, so many owners, like yourself, find themselves using it all week long. As far as looking "nice and clean" again, I made a video that demonstrates how to clean the inside of the Emeril and what tool to use to do so. It may take a bit of effort depending upon the state it's in, but it can do wonders towards restoring that "clean look". Once you've restored the inside, if your baking tray or drip tray has seen better days, you can either replace them, or keep aluminum foil on them (which is practical for cooking, but also looks "clean and fresh". Here is the UA-cam link to that video: ua-cam.com/video/HI4xTkU1q4U/v-deo.html
      As far as wings, I'm sure you tried all the usual- flipping them midway through, higher temp, more spray oil, cooking the chicken first before adding sauce, etc.? I'm not a wing expert, but a few Emeril owners have commented in this section that they really enjoy their wings. You can try replying to one of their comments and see if they have any tips? Either way, I'm glad you're still getting the most out of your Emeril after 2 years. Do a video on making chicken wings…if it doesn’t smoke then I’m a believer. I guarantee you it will smoke no matter how much aluminum foil and pans you put over the heating elements.

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  3 роки тому +1

      Just to be clear, the baking tray (not to be confused with the drip tray which resides below the lower coils) is really the only thing that can protect the lower coils from drips, crumbs, batter, etc. Whether you use foil on the baking tray comes down to two things- avoiding a messy and lengthy clean up and 2) not getting any stuck-on residue- i.e. melted cheese or something, that can heat up on the tray and start smoking the next time you use the air fryer. As far as the drip tray, it's again to avoid the cleanups and same thing- notallowing anything to get caked on the floor of the air fryer and eventually heat up to the point where it will start smoking- even crumbs (doesn't have to be cheese or sauces). If you incorporate the baking pan into your cooking process, the lower coils will be protected and that will only leave the top and side coil (where the fan is located) exposed. Where are you witnessing the smoke coming from when you make your chicken wings? I'm guessing it's the side coil based on how the air flows. Are you cooking the wings with the sauce on them? Why not just add the sauce after they're done frying or add the sauce after the chicken is done air frying and you can shut off the blower? Without the blower it will act more like a convention oven and simply heat the sauce while it infiltrates the chicken. There's no way you'll get flying sauce without the blower. If you're getting oil splatter (not hot wing sauce) then I have to ask... how much oil are you using on the chicken? Probably too much to reap the "health benefits" of using an air fryer!! Also, to be fair, we don't know the state of your air fryer before you start cooking. I will give you the benefit and assume that it is perfectly clean and free of any other grease or materials that can start to smoke. I made hamburgers (from chopped meat- no a pre-made patty) and they were very juicy. I had some splattering, but my oven didn't smoke and I had tiny tiny drops of splatter vs big drops. I will post that video next week. First, I promised a viewer I would post a video on the only "tool" that seems to remove the impossible caked on grease splatters inside the Emeril 360.
      **I wrote all the above and realized you didn't write "hot wings" which means you could have meant fried chicken wings or just wings without anything on them. Apologies. If that's the case though, then you really shouldn't be having issues especially with batter or bread crumb fried chicken wings. Does your air fryer smoke when making other foods? Has it smoked again after you made the wings and cleaned the inside? What's your current process and what type of wings are you cooking? I or others may have a tip to refine the process and help avoid any smoking issues (outside of what I mentioned above).

      @@efficientway Thanks for the reply. My Air Fryer is new and the wings are the first time I used it. There is no sauce or oils on the wings as the skin provides that in abundance. The wings were placed in the basket under the basket I put the wire rack with the baking tray on it also it was covered with foil. The drip tray also covered with foil was placed on the bottom under the two elements. As far as I could tell, when the grease from the chicken wings hit the foil lined baking sheet it started to smoke, I could see burnt drippings on the foil. It smoked me out of the kitchen! The temperature was set at 380 or so. Maybe the temp is too high? The wings turned out great but it is definitely not worth the effort. Now granted it’s the first time I used the air fryer, maybe I did something wrong however, I never had any smoking issues with my old ‘basket’ type air fryer probably because there are no heating elements under the food. Anyways if you could make chicken wings without a smoking issue I would definitely be interested in learning. In regards to the wing sauce, I put that on after the wings were cooked then used the broiler to crisp them… no smoking issue on that process, just the actual cooking of the wings. I am anal with my cooking gear… nothing like that guy in the video you mention. LOL. Oh yeah.. naked wings no breading.

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  3 роки тому

      So I think I know what the issue may be, but for the sake of others reading this, I will share some additional info, so stay with me...
      Although I DON'T think this was your issue, given that it was your first time using the Air Fryer 360, I want to point out that the unit comes from the factory with a certain grease on the heating elements and I found some on the walls of the air fryer too. If it isn't removed before using the oven, you will witness smoke- the manual tells you that. Even if you try to get all of it off (difficult) you may still experience some smoking the first time you use it and in fact, you are supposed to heat the air fryer without any food in it, just to go through the smoke process before cooking with it. You should also clean the accessories- pans, etc with soap and water as I'm pretty sure I recall some grease on them too, but I can't remember for sure- it was a while ago.
      So what do I think happened in your case? From what you have written (and please be honest in replying because I'm quite intrigued by this case and legitimately want to help you) I think you placed the wire rack and baking tray on the #5 level, "under the basket I put the wire rack with the baking tray on it". Instead, you should try the #6 level. It's like a hidden level, it's not even obvious that you can put the wire rack in there and it can even be troublesome placing it in.. as seen in the video. For a first time user, it wouldn't be intuitive to place it there or to even know that it can fit there, so don't worry. What I think might have happen to you (assuming the tray was on #5)... the tray was basically in-line, at the level of the one heating coil that works during air fry mode- the side vent! It's very likely the pan got overly hot as a result and based on what you've described- the oil hitting that very hot plate caused smoking. By lowering the tray to level #6, it will be away from the direct heat of the side vent/coil and remain at a lower temperature. When the oven is in pre-heat mode, the bottom coils do heat up. So when cooking chicken wings with skin on, you may even want to wait to put the tray in until after the unit is done pre-heating (and then place it in quickly so as not to lose heat from inside the oven when you open the door). In addition, with the baking tray on the lower level, the grease/oil should in theory have a bit more time to cool as it drops, but I think that is a minor factor.
      If you are being honest and tell me you already had the tray on the lowest level, then I will add that chicken oil/grease has a very low smoke point- around 375 degrees! By comparison, avocado oil for example, has one of the highest- 450-500 deg). Beef fat has a smoke point of about 420 degrees. I'd say it's still worth a try on the #6 rack if you really enjoy wings. For me, knowing what I know about the air fry basket itself, forgetting everything else (there's no way for you to know as it was your first time), I would have avoided that kind of cooking in the first place because I would think the basket would be the hardest thing to clean- the drippings and such hardening on. Unfortunately you can't use foil in the basket. While you could try to air fry the wings on the baking tray (with foil) in the #5 slot and just flip the wings halfway through or flip 2x (so the tray is just below the vent but the top of the food will fry), I'm not 100% sure you won't have an issue. But the thinking is... just in case some of the smoke was coming from the air fry basket that had fat & grease stuck on it (it was getting very hot from being right in front of the side heating coil) it might make a difference, Let us know how it goes if you try any of the above.

    Thanks for the tips. We did did the preheat to get whatever off of the heating elements. We then make steak in our Emeril one like yours. Still, we did get some smoking. Well, I need to do a thorough cleaning of the inside.

      If you got a little bit of smoke, it may have been the residual grease/spray that they use on the heating elements during the manufacturing process. Remember, the Emeril Lagasse Power Air Fryer 360 has five heating elements. Two on the top, two on the bottom, and one on the right side of the air fryer that is hidden behind the blower (you can't readily see it). When you pre-heat the oven, it only uses the top and bottom elements, so it's possible the side element was still burning off. If you got a lot of smoke or it smelled like oil burning, it may have come from the steak. If so, I'd ask..."did you cook it on the baking tray? Did you use foil on the baking tray? Or did you cook it in the air fry basket? If so, did you use foil on top of the drip tray or did you use the baking tray and rack on the lowest level (just barely above the lower heating elements- it's hard to see there's even a level to put the rack in that low FYI). The smoke that's produced the first time you use the heating elements is just one instance where owners may see smoke. By using some of the tips in the video (some mentioned above) you can generally eliminate any smoking at the time of cooking and during future cooking sessions (by not allowing grease and oil to solidify and get caked onto the drip tray and/or heating elements). If you've already gotten grease on the drip tray or the side walls of the Emeril, you can watch a video I made on cleaning the inside of an Emeril. It shows you how to easily do so and more importantly, the tool you need to do so... ua-cam.com/video/HI4xTkU1q4U/v-deo.html
      After you've cleaned the inside, follow the tips and maintaining your Emeril Air Fryer becomes super easy. I promise. Finally, I made a video where I demonstrate making 4 beef hamburgers in the Emeril Air Fryer 360 with zero smoke, and cleanup that took less than 5 seconds. There are other ways to cook meat, but it's a quick demo that illustrates the points and claims made in this video. You can find that video here: ua-cam.com/video/-CgqK1J3etM/v-deo.html
      Enjoy your new Emeril!

    What cleaners do you use on the inside to remove the grease spatters on the side?

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  3 роки тому +1

      I actually don't use any cleaners or chemicals inside my air fryer to remove grease splatters. Any kind of chemicals or cleaners can potentially become volatile when heated and in even if you attempt to wipe them off, any kind of residue can end up making its way into your food. I do have a process and "tool" to remove the hardened grease that splatters on the inside walls of the air fryer. As they say, "a picture/video is worth a thousand words" so I'm in the process of editing a video that details the process and shows what I use and how to use it. I hope to get it out by the end of the week. I ended up releasing a very quick video on making beef burgers from scratch first, because it explained where the grease splatters I was working on in the video came from. Sorry for the wait, but it's worth it because those hardened grease bits are super difficult to remove. I will try to reply to this thread again to let you know when it's published or you can check back. Thanks!

    Purchased an Emeril 360 plus several months ago. About to use for the first time. Watched your video which is very helpful and helped me to get through the manual with better understanding. The manual says Do Not use foil on crumb tray or any part of the unit as it may cause overheating. I intended to use foil as you suggested to be helpful in keeping it clean. Now I’m not sure if it’s okay to use the foil.

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  2 роки тому +1

      I can only speak to my experience with using foil in the Emeril Air Fryer 360 and it has been a positive one. I've had zero issues and I can't imagine how many hours I've saved by avoiding messy cleanups, etc. I will tell you that if you choose to use foil on the drip tray, or the baking tray, just make sure you place it on the tray securely and appropriately (avoid letting it touch the heating elements). I outline, in detail, how to do so in some of the other replies in this comment section. Also in the comment section of this video you'll find additional "testimony" from fellow "Fryers Club" members about how they use foil successfully in their Emeril air fryers. More importantly, you'll read, and perhaps more so in the comment section of my other video on "How to clean the inside of an Emeril and the tool you need", about the frustrations of cleaning the Emeril air fryer after cooking, when you don't use foil. Additionally, keep in mind, when you're using the air fry mode, the only heating element that is on is the one on the right hand side of the oven where the blower is located. The top and bottom heating elements only work to pre-heat the oven in the air fry mode. I've never not used foil, whenever operating the Emeril, I use it with all modes. Enjoy your new oven regardless of what you choose and welcome to the Fryers Club!

    The toaster does not give you settings for light med. And dark. You can not lower it the temp and time the lowest it goes to is 4.20 minutes. By that time it would be burnt to a crisp. I like my toast light. Very upset to know was know that there was no way to adjust it.

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  10 місяців тому

      No need to be upset... you CAN adjust the toast setting below 4 mins 20 seconds! With the Emeril Air Fryer 360, under the toast mode, you can adjust the number of slices and you can also adjust the "darkness or lightness" of the toast- 2 settings. As you adjust each setting, the air fryer will preset the time and heat accordingly. So for example, 1 slice on the lightest setting will pre-set the time to 2 mins, 45 seconds (well below the 4mins 20 seconds you mentioned). I will tell you that the Emeril Air Fryer toast mode is accurate, but you can use whatever setting combination you like. You can experiment with it. i.e. perhaps you like to put 4 slices of bread in and set it to "one slice, light". Worst case, you can always hit the "cancel" or "off" button and stop the machine outright when you see the bread toasted the way you like it. But I doubt you will need to.

      Thank you for the feedback. I actually filmed a cooking demonstration using the Emeril Lagasse Air Fryer recently. I was debating whether to edit and post it. I primarily made the original video to just inform and help others who were "on the fence" about purchasing an Emeril Air Fryer after reading or watching negative reviews about the machine "smoking". The goal of this channel is to save others time, money, and frustration, so this was an ideal video/subject matter. I figured there were other Emeri Air Fryer 360 cooking demos out there, so I wanted to add/present something unique and helpful. But hey, when "the masses speak" I listen. Looks like I may have some editing to do. Thanks again!

      @@efficientway - I'd be interested in seeing that demonstration. I like the Emeril 360, but I can't crisp my food the way I can in the Power XL air fryer. I realize the Emeril is a larger cooking size, and it's much more versatile, but the Power XL I can cook to perfection! I just need to experiment alot more with this fryer!

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  3 роки тому +1

      That's definitely an interesting observation. Extra functions aside, both the Air Fryer 30 and Power XL are 1500 watt rated and about the same size in cubic feet. One can only assume you are preparing the foods the same before and during the air fry process, so perhaps it comes down to the air flow or positioning of the racks, etc. I will say, as I mentioned in the video, I've found that the recommended times in the Emeril Lagasse cook book that comes with the Air Fryer 360 are way off. I always need to cook the food much longer than the recommended time. After you've experimented with the Air Fryer 360, please come back and let us know if your findings change at all. Since most people don't own both air fryers, you are in a unique position to offer a true comparison. Thank you in advance!

      @@efficientway - I'm talking the Power XL Vortex, not the oven! I believe 7qt size. I just don't think food can be as crisp in the Emeril vs the Power XL Vortex given the same temps and cooking time. I haven't even scratched the surface with the Emeril yet! I may try a broil/air fry combo and see if i can duplicate the crispness I'm after from the Emeril.

    • @efficientway
      @efficientway  3 роки тому +1

      Ah, perhaps there is something to the smaller units. It's hard to tell what's what because the more spray oil or brushed oil you use, the crispier the food you are air frying will become. But that of course defeats the health benefits of using an air fryer in the first place. So it's hard to go by other air frying videos, but if you are conducting the experiment on your own, you know exactly how much or how little oil you are using with both units, and can thus appropriately judge (over time and after experimenting of course), which is the best air fryer.
