Personal Ranking Of The Disney Classics

  • Over the past three years, I've watched all 59 of the Disney classics just so I could make this ranking. So I hope you enjoy!
    When I rendered this the first time yesterday, I realized that the font I chose didn't render the apostrophes when I copy pasted my comments from my word document, so then I had to go back and manually add all the apostrophes. Fun times :') So if there are any apostrophes missing in my comments, that's why.

    My Top 10 Favorite Walt Disney Animated Film Of All Time:
    1. Encanto - The character development is amazing, great character designs, the humor is very well executed, it has full cast of enjoyable characters and the songs is really catchy.
    2. The Jungle Book - I like the animation, the art and the narrative sequence. Mowgli and Baloo had a great bond and King Louie is super funny during the I Wanna Be Like You sequence.
    3. The Lion King - The story is really epic, the animation is incredible, the musical sequences is breathtaking and the score was done perfectly. The humor, the action sequences and the villain is fantastic.
    4. Aladdin - The most magical picture from the Renaissance era, Robin Williams’s role for the Genie is astonishing, delivering his realistic humor lines and it also exemplifies Disney’s magic, it also had great elements for a kid’s movie and Jafar is a top notch villain.
    5. Moana - The musical sequences is breathtaking, the story is really strong once you watch it for the first time. The animation is mesmerizing, the action scenes were fun to watch and the battle scene was very done written.
    6. Bambi - Many people hates this movie because the story is really “bland”. It shows us about a deer living his life in a forest and experience the life of what animals live. The concept is very well executed and the animation is fantastic.
    7. Alice in Wonderland - All of the characters, every plot point and scene was full of nonsense batshit crazy. It’s like the Pink Elephants on Parade sequence from Dumbo but it’s the entire movie.
    8. Beauty and the Beast - The love story is amazing, the voice acting is incredible, fun side characters, Belle and the Beast had great chemistry together and the songs is outstanding.
    9. Wreck-It Ralph - Vanellope and Ralph’s dynamic is really strong, I just love the video game 3D animation and the plot twist villain is magnificent.
    10. Lilo & Stitch - Nani and Lilo’s relationship is way more relatable than Elsa and Anna’s relationship from Frozen, the battle scenes are fun, Stitch is super funny and Lilo is one of those Disney characters that feels incredibly genuine.

    What can I say? First of all, congrats for managing to handle such a great rank! The earliest Disney movies will always be my ultimate favourites, but each one of your explanations were more than agreeble. Honestly your top spot was mindblowing, I always saw it as an underrated pearl, but I don't think I will ever have the courage to put it on first place. As for my favourite, "The Sword in the Stone", it's quite low, but not as much as I expected, so thank you. Dare I say that the Swedish dub of that movie is amazing btw, as much as "The Emperor's new groove" Swedish cast. Amazing job, the rank was a pleasure to watch😉

      The early movies just aren't for me, but I get why you like them! Sword in the stone is a very good movie, just not in my top. And I agree that it has a great Swedish dub! 😊

    Good job for ranking those 59 movies👏💗
    My favorite Disney movie is "Alice in Wonderland" but mostly because I'm a huge fan of the book and because Alice helped me a lot when I was younger.
    But I'm also in love with :
    Tangled (Prettiest Disney princess😍)
    The little mermaid
    Pocahontas
    Frozen (1 and 2)
    Dumbo (I love the pink elephant part a lot😍)
    Peter pan (Still better than the book in my opinion)
    Wreck-It Ralph
    The emperor new groove (the funniest Disney movie😂😂)
    Zootopia
    Mulan
    Brother bear

    Oof okay some harsh words for Pinocchio and the Rescuers, they are not among my favs, but I do love them, especially the Rescuers since I have many childhood memories from that film. Cinderella and Winnie the Pooh 2011 so low, oh man I love love love them. I personally think the Black Cauldron is one of the most underrated Disney films pronto, the story feels more grown-up to me, I kinda dig the animation too somehow, and I freaking love this soundtrack! The many adventures of Winnie the Pooh is just so awesome IMO, I think the film is harmless, the first Disney film I watched, maybe I love it more because of the stellar Dutch cast though. NOOOO Peter Pan, I know it has racism, but I can't hate it for that, I watched that film endless, and I had a major crush on Peter. Good another Robin Hood, Atlantis, Lilo & Stitch, Tarzan lover

  • @LillWillDisney

    What a great video idea! 😁
    I think I agree with most of your choices, but there are some I would place higher: Cinderella (switch with Snow White), 101 Dalmatians, The Rescuers Down Under, Hercules, BatB (my number one, ouch 😂) and Tarzan. And some I would place lower: Snow White, Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty (probably the most boring Disney movie IMO), Dinosaur (it’s not a bad movie but it gave me trauma lol), Wreck-It-Ralph (did not click with that movie at all) and Zootopia (not much lower, but I don’t think it’s in my top 10). Other than that, our opinions are very alike 🤗

    Near the beginning, I was a bit sad to see some so low (of course, I reminded myself that diverse opinions are inevitable and a good thing)
    BUT your top 5 is absolute fire! Each one there is a masterpiece. I was scared to see where you’d place Tarzan (my favorite) and was pleasantly surprised. Same with Brother Bear.

    I thought I was going to die when I saw Pinocchio's place! To me it's the master of Walt Disney; everything that Disney does wonderfully is in this movie to me. Same for The Rescuers which has a mood and a music so different, more pessimist and dark but still naive and cute, it is really weird but it works so well to me (the overture is so great). The more I was watching the video the more I was like "Okay she seems to love Disney in the tale/cute/beautiful way to tell stories and that's why ALICE IN WONDERLAND is sooo low!" To me it's objectively one of the most resulted but well. How tastes are different!
    Agree for Cinderella though. I like it but I think I agree with your comment. I do think Peter Pan is immensely interesting but it never get my attention as much as I wish strangely !
    Snow White is a pure master, higher for me!
    Agree with Winnie The Pooh, 101 Dalmatiens (I don't care about Cruella), The Black Cauldron.
    Like a of people out there, I disagree with TLM haha, I adore it. Same for The Jungle Book and Sleeping Beauty, top 15 material both ! And I just can't agree with Aladdin since it's my #1 haha. But I do like the comment you put in Home of the Range haha, doesn't deserve that much hate! Hercules nooooooo :'( Such a wonderful movie with BIG ideas !!!!
    Oh thank you for Bambi's comment ! It's so so beautiful !
    Haha no it's not your nostalgic talking about Robin Hood, it's just a wonderful movie, really ! Intelligent and interesting everywhere, and very funny indeed. I agree with you about Princess and the Frog, I adore jazz and strangely I don't find that so attractive in this movie, I mean not like in The Jungle Book or the Aristocats for example where it works wonderfully.
    I understand what you mean about Frozen and I recognize many defaults to it, but the story and the characters are so wonderful I can only put it in my top 10. Completely agree with you about BatB comment, but I still think it deserves my top 10 x)
    Strangely I disagree with your comment about Lilo & Stitch and meanwhile I love it as much as you do! I don't think it's a feel-good film : I cry so much through the movie, the characters touch me deeply and their quests are so pessimist, real and sad! Only the landscapes and the music save the movie from being such a drama! But I do adore the movie for its story and I adore Elvis music so it's a plus for me!!!
    About Pocahontas; I do agree with you about John Smith's development which is not very logical sometimes. But the story and the music and the animation are so wonderful I still like it a lot.
    Really agree on Frozen II.
    TANGLED is THE masterpiece of Disney's Return back in 2010 I remember feeling like a child again. About Tarzan : I agree with 100% and each word you've said I could say it. Just a masterpiece.
    TLK never caught my attention but I do understand what you mean.
    The Hunchback... Same place as yours in my top. No words, the placement means everything.

    • @FeliciaGoldfire
      @FeliciaGoldfire  3 роки тому +1

      Haha it seems like you like pretty much all the movies, so no matter what ended up in the bottom we'd have disagreed on something :) but yeah, what I like most in a movie is an interesting story, and many of the earliest movies don't have that imo.

    Hey congrats for this video, I guess it wasn't easy to do so good job 👌
    For my part I don't think I would be able to do this kind of ranking since except for my big favourites who stay at the top, my opinion always change, it depends on periods and moods haha 😅
    Looking at your ranking I have the feeling you're not so fan of the darker disney movies who aren't that sweet and naive during all movie, so I was surprised by the high place of The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, but I'm so glad since it's also part of my big favourites 🙂
    And yes I know that Pinocchio can be creepy at moments but I loved it so much as a child each time I watch it gives me a good mood idk why haha
    Well I'm part of those who love Aladdin and Cinderella because of the Genie and the mice lol
    We don't agree with everything but that's alright, I know how the opinions can be different for this but just I'm so glad you're not part of those "Disney fans" who care only for the princesses and not the other movies or characters lol, and maybe I should watch Brother Bear cause I've never seen it 😂

    • @FeliciaGoldfire
      @FeliciaGoldfire  3 роки тому +1

      My ranking changes all the time too, but the movies stay in the same general position. And no, I don't particularly like the darker disney stories, but not because they're dark, rather because I find their stories uninteresting or poorly told. If a story is just dark to be dark, it holds no interest to me. The hunchback of Notre Dame has a really moving story, that just happens to be dark. (and it has a very happy ending) 😊

    In regards to "The little mermaid", and coming from a diver and sea lover myself, the underwater landscapes are actually very realistic. Except for some places like the clear, tropical waters of the Caribbean, if you go diving you'll notice that usually things become blurry a few metres from your view, and you can only appreciate so much of the landscape before it dilutes in the blue, green or grey of the surrounding water. Water absorbs most colours the deeper you go. You can test that optical effect if you use a Gopro in a deep pool. Also, compare how different the backgrounds under the sea are in the film from the landscapes painted above water in Eric's kingdom, and you'll notice that the colour pallette is more varied and the scenery is more detailed and clear, because that's how we see things above water. So the animation style is actually fitting for the film.

    • @FeliciaGoldfire
      @FeliciaGoldfire  3 роки тому

      I agree that it's realistic, but it's an animated movie, I'm not looking for realistic representations. I'd rather have an unrealistic but beautiful underwater world than constant blue-gray, boring scenery :)

    I enjoyed the video so much! I love how honest and straightforward you were with your comments (while still being respectful), I really think I got to understand well your feelings towards each movie. Of course, disagreements are bound to happen. I haven’t watched most package era films, but I do enjoy The Three Caballeros and Saludos Amigos more than other movies in the list. Glad to see some appreciation towards Wreck-it Ralph and Robin Hood 💓 Your comment on Peter Pan is so spot on, I can’t stand this film because of how sexist and racist it is in spite of loving the concept (funnily enough, I think the original book was less awful than the movie). And a lot of things are very subjective of course, for example Tiana is one of the few Disney heroines (alongside Mulan and maybe Belle) that I can relate to, but I totally get that someone could feel distant from her. My top five Disney films are Lilo & Stitch, Mulan, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Wreck-it Ralph and The Emperor’s New Groove so I’m happy to know we have a similar taste. I’m not a big fan of Brother Bear but to be very honest I watched it only once when I was 7 so maybe I should revisit it. Anyway, great video! 💗

  • @raneemacintosh6842
    @raneemacintosh6842 3 роки тому

    If I ever decide to make a video like this I'll just leave out the musical package films because I think they're too hard to rank in the same place, it's like ranking princess voices and villain voices together. Melody Time I have a soft spot for but TO BE FAIR I was on mushrooms when I watched it lol. I never consciously thought of what you said about Rescuers being dull and grey but you're actually right. I actually agree about Alice. I find that one highly overrated. I agree a lot with your Cinderella comment but yet i would put it higher because I love the protagonist so much. Bambi isn't a movie, it's ART. Agree completely on your moana comment. Really surprised to see Frozen 2 higher than 1 and I'm not sure where I stand. I forgot Raya exists. I'm gonna watch Treasure Planet for the first time this weekend. 2 of your top 3 I love but the first I hate to say it but I find it a very frustrating film and I don't love it!

  • @panpanda9608

    Thank you so much for your opinion about Tiana. I find her motivations and achievements waaaay more interesting than her, and I just can’t relate to her at all. (I think the same about Moana btw). My personal favorites are Zootopia, Sleeping Beauty, Big Hero 6, Tangled and the one with Kuzco (Sorry, I forgot the English tittle 😅😅)

    • @FeliciaGoldfire

    I totally disagree with this rank, sorry. Ok, not really totally, but with most of it. Especially for Frozen II so high (for me is the worst of the banch with Chicken Little and The Winni Pooh movies), and Fantasia so low. Of course it is a matter of personal preferences.
