This game will always be one of my favorites ah the memories. I remember when I played it, it felt like I was playing through a movie. IMO Mass Effect 2 is one of the best games ever made. The dialogue and story is just sooo good
Yeah, I remember watching some guy's review of recommended Xbox 360 games back in the day when ME2 got announced and he spent solid 15 minutes of the 20 minute video talking about how great and amazing Mass Effect 2 is and all I remember was rolling my eyes and thinking "this guy can't be serious, didn't this guy ever watch Star Wars movies. This must be a rip off of Star Wars of some sort" and not playing it until 2012 or so and got my mind blown away. Now I'm on my 6th or 7th playthrough of the game and well over 1500 hours invested into the game and I loved every single second of it. ME really is something special that I wasn't able to find in any other work of fiction whether it be a book, a movie, a tv show or another video game. It's just irreplaceable in every way. And trust me, I tried. A lot :D Edit: 1.5k hours, not 15k. Fixed that :D
A lot of people love the 2nd over the first but as great as that game is i can't agree. the only reason is probably because i played #1 first. 15000 hours that's insanity. you're hardcore. glad you love it so much it is def worth the love. I'm big on game music as well and this game as well as the first do not disappoint. Amazing soundtracks.
I avoided it for several years after not really getting into the first game. I got the trilogy from a friend about a month ago. I am now obsessed. You are not alone!
Mass Effect's atmosphere is so great: As a child I always dreamt of getting aboard Omega, lie in a room with a full view of the endless space, and finally, this song playing in the background.
Playing this game for the first time. I just spent 2 hours roaming the club and drinking. That intro as you walk in, hearing the muffled music in the background, then feeling it flood into your ears as the doors open. So well done.
There is something I really love about the Afterlife club's ambiance and I'm not even the type of guy who frequents this kind of club IRL. You really feel like you enter in both a very dangerous place, but also a very seductive and enthralling one. It also has an atmosphere simillar to the dark alleys of the movie Blade Runner. The only thing that really disappointed me in ME2 is that there wasn't enough to do in the club! I would have loved to have a bit more conversations/assignments there. Despite this, I think this was one of the most memorable place in the whole series, maybe even in the whole video game history.
Coming up 15 years after the release of Mass Effect 2, this game is still amazing, and is made even better with the release of Legendary Edition. Since I walked into that club for the first time, I knew that it was going to be my favourite game, at least for a while, and the Mass Effect Legendary Edition Trilogy is my favourite game of all time. This song is so good, and just walking into the club every time hits me with exactly the same feeling every time I replay the games. They're just too good not to! Old games are always the best games, there's no doubt in my mind. When I'm not playing old single-player games such as (of course) Mass Effect, I'm playing War Thunder, which is 11 years old too (although still regularly updated). New games just don't have the same charm.
I grew up watching Star Wars and Star Trek in the 80/90s and I played video games. I wanted so badly for the 2 to cross over. When Mass Effect was announced and by my favorite studio no less? I almost shit myself! The first game with Blade Runner type music was a dream come true. My dream manifest. I didn't even kill for it...amazing!
Love that song! It fits so perfectly for Afterlife. I still get goosebumps when I think of the first time I played ME2 and entered the club and the music got louder, that was so awesome. Sounds funny but that was the moment that established the ME-Series at the top of my top-games-list. Still playing all four parts on a regular basis!
Just picked up the legendary edition, never played these before. Now I wish I had a time machine so 12 y/o me could enjoy this story. I’m early into ME3 right now, but this song and the vibe at Afterlife has definitely been my favorite so far
Edit; the fact that there are no ads is a godsend and I would literally hand the uploader twenty bucks if I knew the money would go directly to him/her
Is it just me that feels really emotional when I play this game? To me, it's barely a game, it's like a really engaging book or movie. I can't stop thinking about it, the story is so deep and it speaks to me on a spiritual level. Maybe it's just me knowing I won't live to see a day when interstellar travel may happen...and so I want to be able to experience that life though this game.
Across the board the music in this game is so well written and composed. Half the reason I'd be able to spend a good half hour trying to customize the perfect armor for Shepard was for having this song play in the background, nevermind the atmosphere that comes up when you go to Afterlife... truly a terrific game.
You all know probably this amazing soundtrack from ME2 but for me, this was the soundtrack which was used in Need for Speed: Road Challenge (also known as High Stakes) from 1999. First NFS game i played, my childhood, hearing this amazing soundtrack once more in Afterlife made me almost cry (from happines)...It just reminded me my childhood i spent with NFS, the times when I was just kid, with no obligations nor responsibilities just enjoying my schools life ah gosh missing those times so much....
Every time i went into Afterlife and heard this song, i thought: "Hmm, they must really like this song a LOT since they play it every time i'm here." Either that or Aria is a big fan of electro-synth and she has a playlist of this type of music :). Anyway, it's a good tune. I like it too.
Walking into this level of the club solidified Mass Effect 2 as one of my favorite games of all time. It was the moment I fell in love with Mass Effect.
Saki Kaskas, the hero if EA soundtracks, sunce the last century. His songs were reason alone to buy a game with sometimes less than mediocre gameplay. Rest in peace Legend.
God damn'ed drunken nostalgia! This is great, I return to this track every few months or weeks. One of most rememberable tracks of my gaming career (since 1980's) and Mass Effect is my beloved series of all time
I remember on my first playthrough in Mass effect 2 when i stepped foot in Omega and heard this music. The atmosphere was great and it was like you were really there as Shepard . I thought to myself: "2 years disappeared from my life, the group i used to fight against brought me back from the dead, i'm sorrounded by people i have never seen in my life before and basically i don't know what should i do but damn, this music is awesome!"
RIP Saki Kaska. Didn't have the pleasure to know you in person or hear of your songs before i played mass effect 2. This song'll be one of my all time greatest. Hope you're in a better place man.
Imagine in the not too distant future, you’re out with a few friends in your local club and you hear this… we made it to the Afterlife, fellow Spectres!
this is bizarre. I first heard this song in Need For Speed High Stakes. Didn't even know it ended up in a Mass Effect game years later. Interesting to know.
Not only that, but the synth beats are used for Afterlife, while the early oboe cues are used for Samara's theme. So you technically hear the whole song in ME2, but separated into two distinct entities.
The song just fits 100% perfectly in Mass Effect 2 when entering the Club Afterlife on Planet Omega. When I heard it in NFSHS in 99 it didn't make sense, didn't fit the game.
_"I knew a bar out on the front that was like this. Me and some friends got stupid one night; long story short, tempers flared, followed by pistols! We all got out, except for my buddy Narco... places like this are slaughterhouses, dressed as nightclubs! I shit you not!"_ *-Zaeed Massani, 2186*
+Johnny Ryder Yes, its in NFS High Stakes on the showroom screen, a game from 1999. As soon as I heard it in Afterlife I recongnised it from there, a bit of nostaga, then made the EA connection. It's a nice easter egg and reference if that was the intent :)
NFS and ME are two very different kinds of games, and not everyone who plays Mass Effect plays car/racing games like NFS, myself included, so there might be why many people don't recognize the song. That this melody is one that was in an NFS game and then got used in Mass Effect 2 is really cool though!
SFN Low Skates, we get it...

This is that one song I can listen to for days on end and never get tired of. Might just be my favourite song of all time.
True mass effect feeling
Still one of the best! Anyone else from 2019?
Yeah, I still love these games and their music. 👍
Mass effect forever in my heart
Yh g
Actually just discovered Mass Effect :)
No, I'm from 2011. Fuck off with these retarded date comments.
Hearing this for the first time just meant that this was going to be something special.
Mass Effect > Star Wars. i cant believe im thinking that but its true...
Mass Effect was literally a Star Wars game at first.
Of course it is.
Indeed.Better Lore, better Story, better Characters and it´s a Game which gives it extra Bonus for Interaction and Choices aswell as Gameplay
Mass Effect and the Dune series are the sci-fi as a genre.
without Star Wars there would be no Mass Effect
Hearing this for the first time was like an out of body experience, it felt like something straight out of a movie when you first walk inside
Don't *fuck* with Aria.
But can I fuck Aria?
Except if your name is Mordin.
Will be here if you need me ;)
I like it! Easy to remember.....
@@tonycmac If you forget, someone will remind you.
i just want a bar like that exactly
xX_AceHunter_Xx same. would be the best place in the galaxy
Be careful with batarian bartender:)))
im commander shephard and this is my favorite tune on omaga
Omega is the Renegade to the Citadel's Paragon.
This track is unlike anything else, so many feelings when I hear this
Edit; the fact that there are no ads is a godsend and I would literally hand the uploader twenty bucks if I knew the money would go directly to him/her
its a masterpiece. Sadly the creator passed away in 2016.
I've never played Mass Effect but first this in NFS High Stakes (PS1)... its really nice to know this cool song has returned to a modern game.
kynigh timeless
Is it just me that feels really emotional when I play this game? To me, it's barely a game, it's like a really engaging book or movie. I can't stop thinking about it, the story is so deep and it speaks to me on a spiritual level. Maybe it's just me knowing I won't live to see a day when interstellar travel may happen...and so I want to be able to experience that life though this game.
It's a good game, but maybe you smoked too much weed when you played it.
No matter if this song has 20 years...it fits perfect with ME atmosphere.
This really was the absolute perfect song for Mass Effect 2. It perfectly captures the feel of the game.
Suacide first the game better, in my mind, still this is one sexy beat, sad that Andromeda hasn't got any good beats.
How can u dislike this absolute tune
Exactly. Every time you end up on Omega, Aria turns on this afterlife music to honour the visit of the dead SPECTRE. Or just to tease you.
RIP my dude
may the asari strippers greet you in heaven
You simply don't get enough credit for your genius.
*asari dancers.
@@Vantud391 strippers are also dancers
Walking into this level of the club solidified Mass Effect 2 as one of my favorite games of all time. It was the moment I fell in love with Mass Effect.
on mass effect 2 afterlife is where i spent most of my time because i absolutely loved the music and i still love it
Just started the Legendary collection over this weekend. Can’t wait to get back to Afterlife in ME2. Such a beautiful club.
Saki Kaskas, the hero if EA soundtracks, sunce the last century. His songs were reason alone to buy a game with sometimes less than mediocre gameplay. Rest in peace Legend.
Bioware should open a club really, Mass Effect theme, this music, can't go wrong with that.
One of the best club tracks in ME series. I couldn't leave Afterlife because of this amazing music.
Stepping into that club was the moment I fell in love with Mass Effect forever.
ME2 will always be my favorite. Loved the gritty atmosphere.
“If you wanna think we’re dancing together, go ahead!”
Perhaps in the *afterlife*, i’ll be listening to this far away on a *darkstar* for forever and all *eternity*
RIP SAKI - You belong in the electronic music hall of fame.
Шикарный трэк! 😍
Я ещё специально на Омегу залетал, что бы его послушать. 👍😁😍
Don't trust the batarian bartender, my heart feels funny after one of his drinks
He doesn't feel nothing already after i made him drink that one of his own drinks
That's Mass Effect.. Will I ever experience that again?
R.I.P. Saki... Your music will live forever in my ears.
Cannot wait to revisit the place in the remastered version..
RIP Saki Kaska. Didn't have the pleasure to know you in person or hear of your songs before i played mass effect 2. This song'll be one of my all time greatest. Hope you're in a better place man.
"broke Omegas only rule, in more ways than one"
Just playing Need for Speed 2016, heard this, knew i had heard it somewhere before
you might also heard this in 1999
I remember this from Need For Speed: High Stakes!
CALISTA!
Same
Imagine in the not too distant future, you’re out with a few friends in your local club and you hear this… we made it to the Afterlife, fellow Spectres!
this is bizarre.
Geil Ganso It was only in the replay section unless you changed it, It calms you down after a long race it fits perfectly with NFS HS
Bunta Fujiwara I remember it being the menu music. At least for the PC version (was there a console version?).
Essess Nine
Yes there was a PS1 version of the game.
It’s pretty amazing that a song originally released for a need for speed game back in ‘99 fit in so seamlessly with this game in 2010
That opening reminds me of Timesplitters, just makes the track all that more awesome.
_"I knew a bar out on the front that was like this. Me and some friends got stupid one night; long story short, tempers flared, followed by pistols! We all got out, except for my buddy Narco... places like this are slaughterhouses, dressed as nightclubs! I shit you not!"_
*-Zaeed Massani, 2186*
This song has been my alarm clock for almost twenty years.
Need for Speed High Stakes anyone?
+Johnny Ryder Yes, its in NFS High Stakes on the showroom screen, a game from 1999. As soon as I heard it in Afterlife I recongnised it from there, a bit of nostaga, then made the EA connection. It's a nice easter egg and reference if that was the intent :)
+Johnny Ryder ahh the nostalgia, makes me feel kinda sad..
need for speed (high stakes has one of the best OST ever!
it's already double nostalgia - it reminds you high stakes and beautifull time playn' ME trilogy
There was something similar in Porshe Unleashed
Guys... come on... how old are you? 15 ?
Initially, this was a soundtrack to NFS 4....
Respect for the old golden times.
But Mass Effect 2 is a far more impactful and important game
edit: not to say that NFS is bad or anything, I loved those games
NFS and ME are two very different kinds of games, and not everyone who plays Mass Effect plays car/racing games like NFS, myself included, so there might be why many people don't recognize the song. That this melody is one that was in an NFS game and then got used in Mass Effect 2 is really cool though!
ME2 took music from all over the place. This one from NFS:HS, some Citadel stores play Sim City 4 tracks and at least one club has a song from SSX.
YES!
Man, this brings back so many memories. I love the original Mass Effect 1-3, the games were top notch, also this song is amazing
There is only one rule on Omega.
Fucking with Aria...*inhales*... problematic.
Fucking Aria less so
Asari and Turians ruling the galaxy; the primitives of my cycle used to hunt wild animals to feed themselves...
And if you forget it, someone will remind you.
don't ask for a drink if youre human :V xDDD
Or if you're Mordin, just break the rules. In more than one way....
Maybe in the *Afterlife* or *Purgatory* I'll be in a state of *Flux* on a *Darkstar* listening to this for all *Eternity*
14 years later... peak gaming
