Thanks! Yeah, I found myself bouncing back and forth on other's exhaust sound videos so I thought I'd save people the trouble :) And if anyone else is reading this... go check out and subscribe to Burner's channel! Great video series over there.
a more freeflowing exhaust always helps, i had a r170 slk 200 in which we removed the cat and mid muffler for shits and giggles, that car actually started to slide into corners with the same driving profile that had been used on the car prior to the mods, i dont know about the hp gain since it is only a 136hp car but it for sure had more torque making the rear kick out quite happily with no clutch kicks, i got a video on my channel where i slide a roundabout about 1,5/4th, just gas no clutch kick
From Rancho Cucamonga CA , just poke a 1/2 hole with a sharpened foot long rebar it took 15 minutes for both holes, might go to 5/8 ,tnx for the tip 👍🏽

Love the video and comparison. Can you by chance do a road view in and outside of the car. Just curious to hear what the system sounds like at higher rpm.
Thank you’ I have an 02 base with that darn oval tip. I can’t unbolt the tip. When I look inside, I do not see where on earth you were able to punch through. It looks like my pipes go down. There’s no “wall” to punch through. Any thoughts?
Scratch through the grime to find metal and look in there with a bright flash light. You'll find what you're looking for. If that fails... save up and buy an aftermarket exhaust. :)
Had to take both of the Boxters I bought recently to get smoged. In each case they just connected to the car's ECU and ask it if everything was fine :) This should't effect smog testing since it's after the last sensor in the system. No different than installing a CA legal 'cat back' exhaust. Hope that helps.

See if you can get a small hole drilled. It'll give you something to bite into. Since the inside of the pipe is turning a corner, most blows will glance off of it. Put your nail right in that hole.

Buy a Boxster with a muffler the owner before you upgraded, duh. What do you think this does to the emissions? Maybe you don't have to pass any inspection, but maybe someone else can answer.
Finland!? Nice. Surely they've got old Porsches around there. I'm guessing rust is an issue in Finland? And can't you get a learning permit for small engines or a farm vehicle if you're like 12 years old there? Or am I thinking of Scandinavia.
Bruhh. Finally, someone with an actual mic to record exhaust tones. Thanks for the quality!
My pleasure! More to come :)
Nice to see you're starting your projects out right! Thanks for editing the before and after sounds together. It makes quite a difference!

That was so precious watching your little girl claying the paint. Good training for a young lady.

I put an eBay muffler on my 986 base. it was only $300 and went on really easy myself. it sounds great with a slight drone at 2700-3000 rpms.
Nice!
Bishop Cherry Coke that's sick ! Any links maybe bro? Highly appreciated.
Which one?

Agreed :) Hey, I'm about to buy an outback inverter and Mate3 to upgrade my off-grid kitchen. stay tuned.

I mean it’s free so y’all shouldn’t be complaining if it’s free u should be greatful or just get a exhaust for like 600 buxs
Now it sounds like a Porsche! Nice job!
so,, basically a lobotomy
I wonder if you could punch the holes, then install a rivnut so you can plug it with a short bolt when you want it to be quiet.
Ich hab's ausprobiert und bin begeistert Boxster 2,7 Bj2004

Ohne dich wäre ich gar nicht auf die Idee gekommen;-)
Mir klang der Boxster auch zu zahm:-)
Pretty sick ! I will do that to my Porsches
Punch a hole in my exhaust to make it sound like its blowing ?? nah
Lol exactly
Yes. At least he did not spend hundreds $. Hey he likes it. And that my friend is priceless.
Will this affect smog test? Thanks!
Absolutely not.

Thanx bro, it really works...
Now it sounds like a supersportcar, like people expect from Porsche!
U karma +++++++ ;)
Thanks!! Glad you're happy with the results :)
If i can still mostly hear the engine instead of the exhaust than it's not good enough
Are these reliable was looking into a 2000 noticed the IMS bearing & Rear seal is the biggest flaw
pretty good imo
Love this.

See my message, it’s easy to do it
That's amazing!
Do you think it would work on a 987 cayman?
If it has the same types of chambers in the muffler, should work :)
The 987 uses a different style exhaust with independent mufflers on each side so this won't work.
There you go. :)
Does the change affect smog? I'm in California as it looks like you are as well.

How precise do the puncture holes need to be? I wouldn't want to do it in the wrong spot.

+JuliansRandomProject I can't seem to find a way to get the hole started, I'm trying to hammer a similar nail thing but it just slides down.

JuliansRandomProject do you puncture just the first baffle wall or do you have to go through the second one behind that too?

Félicitations à vous! Ma conjecture est 20mm pour le meilleur son. Après cela, acheter juste un échappement de remplacement. Bonne chance!
0:55 why are the wheels different on the two cars? t seems like one of the cars have them swapped
Good catch! May be the difference between the 'S' model and the Base model?
JuliansRandomProject I have a 986 S, will check tomorrow! Is it possible that they have been swaped left and right?
+IscleGaming | ZefaCraft Entirely possible! I did notice the 'S' model wheels were wider and had a bit of a dish type offset.

I have an 01 boxster 5 sod I don't want to put any more money in mine either
Put on a set of rear cat delete pipes and it will sound even better!
The Boxster 'S' has Borla cat back and it sounds amazing :)
would you mind telling me where you got your hard top. I'm having lots of trouble finding one
It came with the car but I see them on craigslist sometimes.
Alibaba my friend
does the mod gives "drowning" sound (when running in 55" - up)?
some, if memory serves.
humm kind a sounds like you got a hole in your muffler. I'd have to hear it in person I think.
Subjective for sure. And like a mentioned, lot of pressure to 'like it' after you drilled 2 big wholes in your muffler :)
I like your video
Hello ! Work on 987?
Just straight pipe it! or put a stainless race cat in it... The boxter sound shit standard...
Are you opening one side or both?
both sides
sound not changed
It's subtle online. may be better heard with headphones :) In person it's pretty obvious.
Just save all your pennies for a Fabspeed exhaust or a Soul Exhaust
i think nobody who wathes this has that car
They're well balanced and a blast to drive! You can find them on Craigslist for $4-5K. If you get one you can follow along at home.
