My First Experience as a Company Secretary

Ms. Gloria Tengera shares her experience performing the role of a Company Secretary for the first time. She also responds to the question why she made the decision to follow the career path of a Company Secretary.
She is currently the Company Secretary and General Counsel of the Development Bank of Rwanda, a bank whose mandate is to drive and support the development of Rwanda.
She served as the Company Secretary and Head of the Legal Department of AB Bank Rwanda and later as the Head of Risk and Compliance. Prior to joining AB Bank, she worked with Rwandair as Legal Counsel.
She holds a degree in Law from the University of Rwanda and a master’s degree in Business, Corporate and Maritime law from Erasmus University, Rotterdam.
She is the current Chair of the East African Law Society In-house Counsel Committee and a co-founding member of Ubumuntu Arts Organisation, an organization aimed at shining a light on humanity through the performing arts and other forms of artistic expression.
Gloria aims to serve, grow her potential and empower others. She is a Business and Corporate Lawyer and a Certified Maxwell Leadership Team Coach. With a combined professional experience of 17 years, she has learned and understood the power of having life skills in addition to technical and academic skills.
