This goes to show that anyone could grow their own produce, time we came together in our community and give each family one thing to grow and then trade together. Just imagine what we could accomplish
What a great idea of utilising the space in the bed, without having to fill it all up. I’ll have to steal that idea. I would use the raised bed as a salad/herb garden. Growing lettuce, radish, herbs and edible flowers. That way everything can be easy to grab and go for quick meals.
My two 10 year olds have been asking for their own bed in the garden so they can grow "weird" veg like purple carrots and white strawberries. If I won it I'd give it to them 😁. I'm in Cambs UK.
I grow using polyculture method so I would he growing a variety of vegetables, fruit and flowers in the bed. All tucked in together and changing all the time when veg/fruit harvested and something else planted in its place. I love raised beds as they help with my mobility issues, they look amazing. I would use the round raised bed as a herb planter this year and then possibly rotate it to something different next year :) It would be brilliant as our whole garden is basically container and home-made raised beds as we don't have much in ground planting space. I'm Cambridgeshire, UK.
I watched your video on the outdoor sunny product from Wilko so purchased an outdoor sunny greenhouse (10x15) , it landed last week! And it massively improved the selection of what I can grow. However the other evening I found myself strategically placing plant pots where I had planted produce ( avario melon, water melon) so I wouldn’t step on them! I want to utilise the centre of the tunnel yet to do this successfully; a raised bed would direct me around that site ( a bit clumsy). Just a thought; due to the depth of the bed, I’m sure cut outs could be made to utilise vertical planting without reducing the integrity of the frame? The manufacturer can have that one for free! 😜 Anyway; I’ve had a couple of scoops, please keep posting! Another cracking product I wouldn’t have known about. 👍💪. Matt: Blackburn.
Cheers Matt! I think they’re a bit better than what people let on, as long as they’re secured and not exposed to massive wind they do the job. I bet you’re right on that, they’re fairly strong bits of corrugated metal so they’d definitely hold up. Have a good weekend!
I’ve had to start growing at the front of my house more this year as got temporary lodger Dog who’s always out in the back garden so having to sort out concrete flagging where I was gonna put grow bags and pots before he arrived so that’s scuppered those plans for me 😮 That raised bed would be used for herbs and pollinator flowers on my front lawn as I’ve been deliberating putting a raised bed there

i have a dwarf pear tree thats been in a tub for a while so i would plant that in the middle and lots of flowers for the pollinators around it. In North Wales
I'd do a mixed fruit/veg bed too. I only got my allotment Jan 1st, so replaced shed, adding polytunnel very very soon. Based on the outskirts of Birmingham. 4:23

You’re right Tom there’s so much potential in community growing. More council land should be converted to facilitate community growing projects.

I like the idea of everything being in there it makes it much more convenient! I’ll think of anything to get out of lifting haha

Excellent choices! I think the nasturtiums are going to look particularly good in there.

Yes it’s amazing! It’s about to bloom in the next fortnight I think, the rhododendrons were all in full flower though it was a great thing to see.
