I am a season ticket holder for a philharmonic. We have assigned seating. Several minutes before the conductor gets on stage, the doors are closed and no one is allowed in the theatre until intermission. That is standard decorum around the world. Maybe cruise ships should follow the exact same rules.
I did had a lot of noise in my cabin like someone was banging with a hammer on Carnival during my seven day cruise and I did reported every day, and I was told they didn’t know where was coming from and they didn’t have any other room, in which I told them I wasn’t interested in getting another room, I just wanted to get a good night sleep, but never got resolved.
Exactly Don travel insurance is a must! Always treat the crew with respect they are trying their best and most times are short staffed. They do not have a day off and are trying to help all the guests.
Buying cruise insurance as soon as I book my cruise has become a priority for me since watching and hearing about true cruise accidents!!! Thanks for sharing 🛳️🛳️
As someone who works in the travel industry. I would love someone to report guests like that to customer service. It backs employees up when the guest writes their review. Especially when they add things that did not happen.😊
Great suggestions Don. These are polite “rules” that everyone should follow. Oh….could you imagine if everyone on a cruise ship followed these suggestions? It would be a dream cruise come true ❤
My biggest resolution for cruisers is that with the narrow spaces on cruise ships, is if you are talking to another group or person, please do not block the hallway.
Totally agree regarding manners Don. I run a breakfast club for school kids. They know there is no such thing as jam toast or vegemite toast. We only serve jam toast, please and vegemite toast, please. Hopefully the lesson will stick with them as adults.
I even was my hands after looking at a menu! Please and thank you does go a long way and that one act of kindness can make someone's else's day great!. Awesome resolutions Don. Hope people take your advice.
I try to follow all your resolutions. On our cruise in December I had one lady completely walk into me while I was trying to exit the elevator. Even once she saw me, she still didn’t move and still tried to keep going. It was crazy.
These are wonderful! Can we add to please be considerate of slamming your cabin door and your balcony door. Hold the handle and close it gently. You are not at home. You have neighbors all around you. Happy New Year!
Excellent advice in general!!! My friend and I went on the Odyssey of the Seas in October, 2023 - my friend's first cruise, and first time overseas. It was just the two of us traveling together. My friend is an amazing person and we treated the crew, excursion guides, everyone we came across with great joy and courtesy, even after our ports in Israel were cancelled because of the bo*bings. And you know what? Everyone treated us like queens in return. So yes, understanding, courtesy and kindness go such a long way. Happy 2025 to you and yours, Don!!! 🎉🥂🚢
Great reminders, I often hear cruisers comments that their hands are washed prior to leaving the cabin. There's usually a lot of touching from point a to b😢
Excellent list! Regarding the "lady" talking down to a crew member, I would have had the same reaction! Butt I probably would haveinitially confronted her, in my best cool lawyer demeanor, to point out to her the FACTS of the situation--40 tables (between 40 and 160 people)/ THREE staffers/some have waited longer--so, '"lady' please enjoy your time with your tablemates and the staff will get to you as soon as they are able." If that had not cooled her jets, the gloves would have come off... Ending on a positive note, I actually witnessed a cruising miracle--a huge storm arose off the Dingle peninsula that prevented a tendered shore excursion--AND NO ONE COMPLAINED! Yes, it was a huge storm that rocked the ship but, still, NO ONE went crazy demanding the entire fare back or other such rubbish!! So refreshing! Meanwhile, I had a great time watching God's Wrath spare our little "cruise cork in the ocean"!
Thank you for the resolutions. Such great advice. Now, hopefully people will start following them. Our last cruise, after a lady was yelling at a crew member serving bread to folks, I told her not to let anyone steal her joy. I made a point of saying Hi to her every day and chatting with her. A little bit of kindness, goes a long way. The crew works so very hard.
Ahh yes, elevator etique, I love it! Love the cuise blues part as well. We had to miss Martinique in Nov due to civil unrest. I was happy Princess didn't put us in harms way! If they just had a sea day it would have been fine but replaced it with St Kitts...WIN as we had never been there! We always treat the service personnel with respect and try and talk with them throughout. My wife was injured and needed to ice her ankel for a few days and our room steward was all over keeping ice in the room since we had built a good repore with him. We didn't ask, he just did it. You treat people with respect, you get respect in return. Thanks Don for bringing these items up. Hope to see you on a cruise sometime and tell you in person how much we like watching your videos!
I was on royal carribean on ovation and at the buffet they had crew member right where you wash your hands saying washy washy and making sure youdid they wrre just so nice and everyone washed their hands
I will wash my hands should be #1 in my book. My response to the complainer…’Oh I am so sorry you are having a miserable time, I am not I am having a great time!’ That 12 seat save would have me going to staff to remedy that
We just completed a 35-day cruise to South America and Antartica, and I think we followed all your resolutions, and had a fabulous time. There was norovirus on the ship, but we always washed our hands before eating and never got sick! That can't be stressed enough. By the end of the cruise, they were restricting self-service in the buffets, no baskets of rolls in the dining room, cleaning constantly, etc. and we virus free!
I love the idea of closing the doors, and keeping them closed, before the performance. And, maybe saving no more than one other seat. If the crew would be allowed to enforce more decency rules more strongly, that would be great! Respectfully interacting with crew members is absolutely essential, kindness and compassion goes much further! Karen and Aaron Entitledies, seem to have had no “home training”, as they would say where I was raised. Love both of your UA-cam channels, and just realized that I wasn’t personally subscribed to this one, because my husband and I watch you every day, or nearly, on UA-cam on our TV, which is on his UA-cam account, without commercials. Hope your health is good, and improves daily. Blessings to you.
Hi Don, Happy New Year to you and your family, good health, and travels for 2025. We just came back from a two-week Caribbean trip and we always washed our hands, in fact, the server made all the passengers use hand sanitizer before entering the dining area, it was awesomely hot and had a (v) fantastic time. I am not complaining. We enjoy watching you on UA-cam as we always do and we agree with everything you tell us about the latest cruise news and make suggestions on how to travel safely and looking forward to this year's cruise news that you bring us each day. We wish you all the best from the latest testing you have done in the hospital. Hopefully, the results will be negative.
Don, the wife and I just went on the Margaritaville at Sea Islander for the 5 day 4 night thing to Cozumel and we got our travel insurance from Allyz - and we told someone - and they pooh pooh'd it - why would you spend that - we are only going to Cozumel. Pooh-pooh my backside. Worth every penny in case something happens.
I agree with your wish list..Good luck to us who cruise. I’m travel insurance . My boyfriend and I went on NCL. He got sick with influenza. They made me go as well. Put me on medication just prevent preventive. My bill was $685. His bill was $1400. However, because we both have Medicare . I filed to Medicare. We got the denial then sent to our secondary. Which we have not received a denial yet. Once Medicare denies secondary never picks up, but the insurance company refuses to pay. Our hands are tied. And this was a July cruise. Of course we were charged upon receiving service, which is fine. The Medicare and secondary insurance is the issue cause it all has to be done paper. Very disappointed with insurance .
I posted on the Facebook cruise page of my last cruise " I asked everyone to pledge to wash their hands, cover their mouth with their elbow, not eat in the buffet line and then grab the serving spoon. Someone commented they saw a guest picking their nose in the buffet line 😮
Super well done, Don. These are great resolutions for cruisers. I've seen some terrible things during my 36 cruises, and like you, it's hard to "bite your tongue" some times, but these 10 points you have brought up would make cruising so much better. But will these resolutions be adopted? Good health and happiness for 2025, Don.
I would have a terrible time not putting that woman in her place. I'm in my seventies and not the least bit concerned with confronting an obnoxious, rude, nasty woman. In a nice way - of course!!! :P They're always the easiest to call out as they"re the people with the fear of someone speaking to them about their horrific display, and they know it! I truely was right on point for all of your NYE resolutions! Great job as always Don!
Thanks for the good laugh. People will do what they always do. If I had one wish: People wash your hands frequently but especially before eating in the Buffet
I thought that was standard you let people off of the elevator before I get on but I guess there are rude people or you wouldn't have mentioned it Don. Sorry you had to say it dang people. All the resolutions make for a pleasant cruise, good job.
The absolute last time we did not cruise with travel insurance, was this situation. We’re just going up to Pacific Coast, we don’t need travel insurance being from the United States. Well, the the week before we were supposed to leave, my husband had a couple of heart attacks. Had this happened on the ship when we were at sea, it could’ve been very expensive for us. Now I feel like I should even get travel insurance when I cross the street.
Unbelievable! My husband and I are set to take our 1st cruise in April and are so excited! It’s just incredible and almost unbelievable to me that people behave that way or have that sense of entitlement! Wow! Yuck- I’m with you on how people treat customer service folks or really anyone in the service industry- Who raised them?!
Don our last cruise, we had a server who was horrible. My husband and I didn’t say anything to the server. He wouldn’t clear or table. Was on his cell phone texting, It was poor service. On our way out, I saw the maitre. I spoke privately with him, told him how he wouldn’t clear our table and was on his phone texting. I said I didnt want to make a scene. He thanked me for.
Regarding the waiter being shamed during service: I resolve to politely remind the passenger to treat the servers kindly, right then and right there. The point being to cause a bit of self awareness for that person.
Every cruise I've ever been on I have lost one Port call mechanical issues to the harbor only allowing one ship at a time to do its turns and a freighter took too long and we lost our birth and missing out on shore excursions and an overnight it happens Shake It Off move on and enjoy the rest of your cruise and find another Cruise where you have a chance to go to your bucket list port
My daughter was airlifted from where she was to our local hospital which was about 250 miles. It wasn't a rush. It wasn't at sea. (it also wasn't necessary....but that's another story) $50,000. It was all paid for by our insurance because it was the insurance that said "We're sending a helicopter".....again, a whole 'nother story. But THAT was $50k. Imagine out at sea for an emergency.
Too funny! NOT!! Unfortunately, these people don't say please and thank you in their normal life. Thank you for bringing these resolutions to light!!! Could you imagine these people being bosses you have to work for!!!!!
Don mentions $100 for insurance for a 7 day cruise…. I pay Allianz MUCH less no ($250 for a whole years insurance, and I do 10 cruise 12:50 s a year of at least 8 to 14 days!
Don, please consider changing your black & white photo to a colour one. Every time when I see this, I feel uneasy. Your channel is about travelling and cruising. It should be fun and colourful, and your photo should reflect that.
Washing hands needs to be enforced nowadays. 2 years ago on our Alaskan Princess cruise they did! I was after our ship had an outbreak 2 cruises before ours. It infuriates me 90% walk right on in to the buffet. Makes me wanting to take gloves with me on the next cruise. And Rude people yelling at employees is just classless trash as far as I’m concerned. I was just thinking, maybe some of the overboard incidents are rude people being thrown off the ship??? We go over & beyond to thank workers, smile, tell them they are greatly appreciated etc as often as possible.

AGREED! 💯‼️
I totally agree. The cruise lines need to do this. You either get thier on time or you miss the show.
My resolution is to say thank you God every night for giving me another day.
Don, how could you forget "I will not touch food with my hands at the buffet counters." It is one of your favourite no-no's.

Buying cruise insurance as soon as I book my cruise has become a priority for me since watching and hearing about true cruise accidents!!! Thanks for sharing 🛳️🛳️
got to be one of my favorite videos so far !!! Being raised Catholic, I felt like starting each with "thou shall not..."
As someone who works in the travel industry. I would love someone to report guests like that to customer service. It backs employees up when the guest writes their review. Especially when they add things that did not happen.😊
This is outstanding! Every one of these should always be followed!
Great suggestions Don. These are polite “rules” that everyone should follow. Oh….could you imagine if everyone on a cruise ship followed these suggestions? It would be a dream cruise come true ❤
I bought an annual travel plan this year. Peace of mind and wallet !
My biggest resolution for cruisers is that with the narrow spaces on cruise ships, is if you are talking to another group or person, please do not block the hallway.
I walked into an elevator while peple were coming out on my last cruise and I felt so bad when I realized it! Sorry all!
Wash your hands. ❤
Totally agree regarding manners Don. I run a breakfast club for school kids. They know there is no such thing as jam toast or vegemite toast. We only serve jam toast, please and vegemite toast, please. Hopefully the lesson will stick with them as adults.

Yes please can everyone embrace these resolutions!!!!!
I agree with you Don 100% on all 10. I wish people would be a bit more considerate life would be a lot more better
These are wonderful! Can we add to please be considerate of slamming your cabin door and your balcony door. Hold the handle and close it gently. You are not at home. You have neighbors all around you. Happy New Year!
Those are the best resolutions - lets pray some people adopt these!!
We haven’t seen Angry Don in awhile! 😂 How about Chair Hogs on the pool deck? It’s a losing battle!
Excellent advice in general!!! My friend and I went on the Odyssey of the Seas in October, 2023 - my friend's first cruise, and first time overseas. It was just the two of us traveling together. How about a resolution for cruise lines: We will tone down the nickel and diming of our passengers every chance we get.
Excellent list!
Agree with everything you said. Hope people take note
Those are great resolutions for sure. They are all great and I hope they all come true for us all. Safe travels everyone for 2025.
These resolutions are great. I just wish everyone would adopt them.
Great reminders, I often hear cruisers comments that their hands are washed prior to leaving the cabin. There's usually a lot of touching from point a to b😢

Hi Don, They all sounds like common sense to me.
Hopefully on my upcoming cruise people will follow these resolutions
Thank you for the resolutions. Such great advice. Now, hopefully people will start following them.

Please remember to wash your hands everyone. Is, courtesy and free, and it really helps the channel.
Boils down to common courteousness not only on the ship but also on land. People have just become rude.
I love this list. I do everything on it. (Not the bad things) hope you are feeling well.
Thank you for the reminders. People should know this but choose to forget how to behave.
I was on royal carribean on ovation and at the buffet they had crew member right where you wash your hands saying washy washy and making sure youdid they wrre just so nice and everyone washed their hands
Thanks. If all people wash their hands , it will be very good
What a great idea, Don! Yes, please save us seats in the front rows for every show on our next group cruise! 😝
I will wash my hands should be #1 in my book. My response to the complainer…’Oh I am so sorry you are having a miserable time, I am not I am having a great time!’ That 12 seat save would have me going to staff to remedy that

Well stated Don.
My new year’s resolution is to move back home to Cali and take a cruise to Caribbean. I haven’t cruised since 2013.
I agree with your wish list..Good luck to us who cruise.

I’ve seen people treat crew members like that and I always go up to the crew member and tell them they’re doing a great job and to ignore the jerks.
Then I go to guest services and let them know about the situation!
Happy New Year! Love this video

Good Job Don. Love the Cruise Resolutions but sad to say A lot of people won't apply them to their cruise. Its just a mean rude world out there now.
I am Diamond Plus and agree with the 10 comments
I will not fight with my fellow cruisers!
Love this ❤
Thanks Don
You forgot #11...If I can't abide by these resolutions, I will just stay home and not go on a cruise.
Great list
How about not putting a towel on a deck chair on at sea days, 12:45 and hold it until you go to breakfast, etc.
This is a TRUE RESOLUTION!!! Also NOT to save the Round chairs WITH YOUR PRESONAL items in adult area while you go somewhere else!!!
Love this!
good list Don
Good video, Don.
Keep up the good work!
Too funny! NOT!! Unfortunately, these people don't say please and thank you in their normal life.
Thank you for bringing these resolutions to light!!!
Could you imagine these people being bosses you have to work for!!!!!
These are all so good!
That was a great video.
They r there 2 serve u..u catch more flies with honey than vinegar..maybe treat them as u would like 2 b treated.
Don mentions $100 for insurance for a 7 day cruise…. I pay Allianz MUCH less no ($250 for a whole years insurance, and I do 10 cruise 12:50 s a year of at least 8 to 14 days!
Nice resolutions
Wash your hands!!!! Kids too. We always do. It's not that hard to do
Nailed it
Don, please consider changing your black & white photo to a colour one. Every time when I see this, I feel uneasy.
Your channel is about travelling and cruising. It should be fun and colourful, and your photo should reflect that.
Please and thank you? That indicates respect for someone….most parents do not teach their children that anymore…
Hey Don, you sound like Dr.Seuss!😆
Washing hands needs to be enforced nowadays. 2 years ago on our Alaskan Princess cruise they did! I was after our ship had an outbreak 2 cruises before ours. It infuriates me 90% walk right on in to the buffet. Makes me wanting to take gloves with me on the next cruise. And Rude people yelling at employees is just classless trash as far as I’m concerned.
