So lovely to find a whole UA-cam channel devoted to Mary Pickford! She was a brilliant actress, and more people should get to discover her and see her talent for themselves. The print of this film is remarkably sharp and clear - even the detail on the curate's chair, the tablecloth, the trim on the theater curtain, etc, show up like it was filmed yesterday. Wonderful!
Looks like D.W. Griffith didn't have much sympathy for high church Episcopal priests, as this one is a bit of a nut. But the wayward clergyman is saved by his church choir singer, and her soul is saved from the louche Broadway crowd and skirt chasers.

Love these simple old films. It cracks me up that the American Biograph logo hangs in a church, in a home and other places.
"He may be a homicidal maniac, but he DOES appreciate good music". Mary makes this one, she was such a natural.
She was so adorable. I can see why the world loved her.
This is my favorite MP short. There's something hauntingly beautiful and dreamlike about it 💖
I really enjoyed Mary Pickford and the story line of of film. Directed by D.W. Griffith, a pioneer in silent film making.!
The Olympic and Titanic were still under construction when this film was made
The plot of this one... 😳 I hated liking it.
Thank you for preserving these bits of history! It's important for a lot of reasons.
Arthur Johnson was leading man in many early DW Griffith films, then left, & died a few years later
That was delightfulm Mary was wonderful as usual, the curate was very handsome.
Life Is not perfect for a film 115 years old we blessed to watch it
Simply wonderful!
I take it that the gun-toting Rev was supposed to be a Protestant; otherwise, his troubles are just beginning.
is it possible to find this music?
Somehow it is a little bit like Phantom of the Opera)

Music is way too intense and repetitive for this short!
Horrible music for this film. Does not fit.
