FIRE DAD HE IS USELESS AND CANT COUNT !!! GARDEN WALL BUILD PT 2.
WE ARE OFF TO A BAD START WHEN DAD REALISES HE ONLY ORDERED ENOUGH BRICKS FOR A SINGLE SKIN WALL WHEN WE NEEDED ENOUGH FOR A DOUBLE SKIN WALL SO AL GETS DROPPED AT THE JOB WHILE DAD HEADS UP TO BERRYS ON A 26 MILE 2 HOUR ROUND TRIP.
AL DRY BONDS THE WALL OUT AND LOADS OUT SO WE HAVE A GOOD START SO WE HAVE A GOOD START EVENTUALLY.
THE BRICKS WE USED WERE TERCA DENTON CHEPSTOW MULTI 65 MM AND THE BRICK ON EDGE WERE IBSTOCK STAFFORDSHIRE BLUE ENGINEERING 65 MM. WE ALSO PUT BLACK DYE IN THE MIX FOR THE BRICK ON EDGE FOR A BIT OF CHARACTER.
IT WAS A VERY LONG DAY BUT IT WAS VERY WORTH IT.... ENJOY

Cheers buddy 👍🏽👍🏽🧱
Watching this brought back memories. When wear and tear sets in on the joints that's when a rewarding and enjoyable job becomes a real pain (no pun intended) been there and still there, not bricklaying now though.
Very true pal 🥺🧱👍🏽
looks brill gents ,,,feel your pain ste worked on sites 40 year n knackered my knees n shoulders ,,try n not stop working gets much worse
Cheers mick , sorry to hear it 😕🧱👍🏽
When you get your wheel trims pick up some long silver cable ties and secure the trims to the wheels you’ll probably never need to replace anymore , I had the same problem on my transit
Cheers, will do. fingers crossed we may be getting a new one which has alloys on it 😬👍🏽🧱
Great job lads great to see dad with his son, love watching brickies, I’m a roofer and roughcaster, great to watch
Thanks very much David 🤙🏾🧱👍🏽
fairplay for carrying on in pain..the change of colour in the mortar with the staffs do look smart
Cheers Alan 🧱👍🏽
Looks smart
Cheers 🧱👍🏽
Brilliant work
Thanks Steve 🤜🏽🤛🏽🧱👍🏽
I take it you guys really know how to frost a cake!😋
Black mortar
No but I’m an expert at eating them 🧁🍰
Tasty work lads job well done
Cheers buddy 🧱👍🏽
🖖👍Job well done lads.
😁🤙🏾🤙🏾🧱👍🏽
love the slow motion on laying the brick. really showed the techniques that aren't seen at normal speed. Class tradesmen. Love the content 👍
Glad you liked it Peter, thanks 🧱👍🏽
Good job . Have you thought of using cable ties on your wheel trims nice video
Cheers John , good tip 👌🏼🧱👍🏽
Enjoyed watching you build that wall, sorry your in pain chap but you game is not kindly on your bodies frame. Your work is superb and it’s plain to see your standard of workmanship means everything to you. Your a great team, subscribed as it’s a fascinating watch.
Thanks very much Alan and welcome to our channel 🙏🏽🤜🏽🤛🏽🧱👍🏽
Love watching the process but the
music is terrible like a stuck record lads 👍
🧱👍🏽
Alex, you should be working and giving your dad the day off if he’s struggling with his arthritis. Sorry, I really don’t like to criticise because I think you’re both but come on Alex
Alex works a lot harder than me and I can’t go to work without him .🧱👍🏽
Come on everyone, over 6k views with only 700 odd likes, these guys deserve more the that 👏
Cheers buddy 😁🤜🏽🤛🏽🧱👍🏽
Sorry to see you're struggling bud, my neighbour has got bad osteoarthritis so I know it's not fun. Hopefully you're getting the help you need from the docs and you're in a bit less pain.
Cheers pal, working on it 🥺🧱👍🏽
Well there's an attention grabbing title! This should be good. :)
😆😆🧱👍🏽
Here in America, the average age of a mason is 57. I foresee the end of masonry trades here... or a boon in trade classes. Glad to see your passing on the trowel... the world needs tradesmen like your good self. May the god of bricks smile favorably on your hip and back mate.
Thanhs very much Garren 🤜🏽🤛🏽🧱👍🏽
Looking forward to someone getting fired 😂. Lol. Love your videos. ❤
😆😆🧱👍🏽
Very nice wall, I like the dark mortar for the brick on edge 👍
Cheers James , sets it off nice 👌🏼🧱👍🏽
Steve I feel your pain 43 yrs of construction work took a toll on me. Your a trooper and work through it . Beautiful job guys
Cheers mark 🤜🏽🤛🏽🧱👍🏽

@@SteveAndAlexBuild best of luck 😉
@@georgesutherland4903 🤜🏽🤛🏽🧱👍🏽
Another quality job guys. Sorry, had to leave the room when wife came home from work. I’ll have to ask her one day what she does. LOL. Catch you Thursday and hope the warming weather brings some relief to the hips/back Steve. Stay well.
Cheers Dave, see you thursday 🧱👍🏽
Good stuff lads, Maybe you could do a little vid on why you put the wall tie behind the line and weather you lay tight up to it or not...
🧱👍🏽
Don’t be too harsh on the old man………….. you’ll reach that age before you know it.😂👍
Great looking wall and perfect finish, well done gents.
Cheers Craig 🧱👍🏽
Subbed.! Loving the channel. Came here to write exactly the same as one or two others - about the bit with the close-up/Slo-Mo on the brick-laying, which was ace.! But, don't mean you have to go all David Attenborough now, where every other bloomin' shot seems to be Slo-Mo; they literally think no-one can see anything in real-time anymore. Ha.! Need to show that contrast to appreciate the skill/techniques.
Anyway, Dad is a lion - hope the hips don't trouble too much; my mum suffered same, so seen what this means...
Bob.
Thanks Bob and welcome to the channel 🧱👍🏽
Nice job that lad's, Steve don't delay having your hip done, I broke mine at work in 2012 when I was 42, self employed subbing to a firm 10 months off with no wages coming in and back then entitled to nowt cos of being self employed, if you can make provision money wise for having it done do it mate and when your back at work it won't hinder your, my second job back I was putting a big roof on a barn conversion 12 x 6 purlins and no crane.
😬😬🧱👍🏽
I had a destroyed hip and ended up going private and was eventually operated on, on the NHS within 4 months and only cost me £500!
😮😮🧱👍🏽
Watching that last brick was magic well done .
Cheers Andy 😉🧱👍🏽
Sorry to see you struggling Steve I am just retraining at 58 years of age finished up at Christmas due to bad back and shoulders too much labouring and construction work loved it but hey ho. Hope you are better mate loved the wall great contrast with the dark bricks once again good work from col from Oz
Cheers Colin , good health to you too pal 🧱👍🏽
Steve is a trooper! It’s one of those days where you just get on with it. Lovely craftsmanship and such a good relationship between them. Greetings from Poland 💪👌
Thanks very much 🙌🏽🧱👍🏽
Just watched the vid and im taking a couple of tablets to try ease my back , on 6 inch solids today. Labouring for myself on the second floor . I must be mad . Nice job, Good luck
Jeez best of luck buddy 🥵🥵🧱👍🏽
I was walking less than 12 hours after the op and was walking with no aids in 3 days!
🧱👍🏽
Totally understand the health issues, am struggling with back problems myself - you are not alone Steve!
🤕🤜🏽🤛🏽🧱👍🏽
Love all your videos, no nonsense honest visual diaries of normal working days with interesting info………..great slow-mo frames!
Cheers Alan summed up perfectly 👌🏽🧱👍🏽👍🏽
Really sorry you are in so much pain, hope you get some relief soon
Thanks Sandy 😬🧱👍🏽
Sorry to see you wobble mate, I've got it too & it's a bastard isn't it ! Some days I can't move, I'm not on the tools anymore which is just as well really because I just can't do it anymore, my wrists are shot and I can't grip anything let alone a brick... good work as always fellas, well done
So sorry to hear that buddy , it’s not fun at all 😕🧱👍🏽
Really enjoyed this guys. Customer will be very pleased no doubt. Bob (Weston super Mare)
Cheers Bob , yes they were very happy 🧱👍🏽😁
Echoing Peter Kenny's comment re 'slo-mo' on the brick laying - there has to be years of skilled practice to lay bricks in that nonchalant way! Just great to watch a skilled guy working at his trade so well. I'm sad to see you struggling Steve, that must be so painful just trying to do things that you never gave a thought to all those years ago. Are you going to try and have replacement hips? Operation timed for during the winter months to give you time to recover? Either that or try putting your wallet in a different pocket, that might balance you up! The pointing on that wall looks great BTW, good job Alex!
Thanks Dave . I think it will be replacements eventually 🥺🧱👍🏽
Steven I have had both of my hips replaced, thought it was my knees at first, until I seen the specialist, and he told me nothing wrong with your knees, its your hips now pain free, after a lot of suffering, hope all works out for you.
Thanks Les . Glad you’re all sorted 🧱👍🏽
Wow, what a beautiful wall. Well done.
Thanks William 🧱👍🏽

Have a nice time over in Ireland Eddie 🧱👍🏽☘️
Keep going steve if you stop you will seize up fantastic job mate take it steady wonderful workmanship 😊

Very lucky Billy 😍🧱👍🏽
Zip tie your wheel trims to the wheel….😜
👌🏼🧱👍🏽
I’m gonna lay this out there… excuse the pun! I have over the years grown to dislike ‘most’ tradesmen I’ve come across intensely. Years ago tradesmen relied solely on word of mouth and took a pride in their work as a lifetime vocation. Not anymore, hard to book, turn up late, are surely, unhappy, even childish in their approach to customers, and act like they’re doing you a favour!!!… however once in a while you, as a customer, strike gold!!! These guys are solid GOLD! Father and son that take their trade seriously, are on time, work the hours required for a top notch job and an amazing finish! Thank you for restoring a little faith in the trades 🙏…
Thanks very much for that comment we really appreciate it 🙏🏽🧱👍🏽🤜🏽🤛🏽
Beautiful brickwork guys .. to me working with black mortar looks awesome because we never do it .. we use regular mortar and after that it’s the pointers who does the color to finish the wall .. we do use white cement here and than ..
yes when you have different bricksizes it can get sketchy …
Steve I feel ya mate , even me I’m just 43 years old and I’m actually considering to change career because my body can’t handle it anymore . Had problems with my back , elbows and now my feet having problems so I reckon it’s almost time for me but what the hell am I going to do I don’t really know yet
Take care Guys have a good one 🙏🏼
Cheers Jay the dark mortar is a nice touch on the blues .
Sorry to hear about your ailments Jay .
You should stay in construction and go into management organising the jobs as you have the experience and a lot of knowledge.
All the best Jay and take it easy 🤙🏾🤙🏾🧱👍🏽
@@SteveAndAlexBuild yes that could be an option cheers steve and Alex ;) 🙏🏼
different video but looks a goof job
😁🧱👍🏽
Quality chaps
Thanks mark 🧱👍🏽
Really good job with the wall rebuild.
Thanks Richard 🧱👍🏽
Aren't you meant to use wall ties every 3 courses on 9" or is that optional because they are already stuck together? They do sell the special wall ties 225mm for it though. I know expansion joints are every 12 meters even when it's only 4 ft tall. Just curious. Extra £10 for a pack and barely any more work but makes it much stronger potentially?
🧱👍🏽
Another fine job good job boys.!!!!
Cheers David 🧱👍🏽
Hi Steve &Alex. Another cracking job guys. I like the soldiers on edge with dark mortar. That wall isn’t coming down. I feel your pain Steve. I had hip replacement 18 months ago. Hopefully you will get sorted soon. I sat, stood, laid down what ever it took to get comfortable so worry about anyone else do what works for you mate. Have a good week guys 👍
Cheers buddy 🤜🏽🤛🏽🧱👍🏽
Arthritis is no joke and being 19 stone doesn't help I've got it mainly because of weight lifting and boxing .that's a lovely wall I like it very much thanks for the entertainment

I can sympathise with your pain Steve. I have severe arthritis in my lumbar and thoracic spine. I hardly sleep and am in pain everyday. I have had several facet joint denervations which last around 12 months. I am back in at the end of April for more to be done. Take care and look after yourself. 👍
Same to you Gareth 🤕👍🏽🧱
Looks great that boys. Working through the pain Steve. Cant be pleasant. Brick on edge finishes it off nicely 👍
