Watching this brought back memories. When wear and tear sets in on the joints that's when a rewarding and enjoyable job becomes a real pain (no pun intended) been there and still there, not bricklaying now though.

When you get your wheel trims pick up some long silver cable ties and secure the trims to the wheels you’ll probably never need to replace anymore , I had the same problem on my transit

Subbed.! Loving the channel. Came here to write exactly the same as one or two others - about the bit with the close-up/Slo-Mo on the brick-laying, which was ace.! But, don't mean you have to go all David Attenborough now, where every other bloomin' shot seems to be Slo-Mo; they literally think no-one can see anything in real-time anymore. Ha.! Need to show that contrast to appreciate the skill/techniques.
Anyway, Dad is a lion - hope the hips don't trouble too much; my mum suffered same, so seen what this means...
    Bob.

Echoing Peter Kenny's comment re 'slo-mo' on the brick laying - there has to be years of skilled practice to lay bricks in that nonchalant way! Just great to watch a skilled guy working at his trade so well. I'm sad to see you struggling Steve, that must be so painful just trying to do things that you never gave a thought to all those years ago. Are you going to try and have replacement hips? Operation timed for during the winter months to give you time to recover? Either that or try putting your wallet in a different pocket, that might balance you up! The pointing on that wall looks great BTW, good job Alex!

I’m gonna lay this out there… excuse the pun! I have over the years grown to dislike ‘most’ tradesmen I’ve come across intensely. Years ago tradesmen relied solely on word of mouth and took a pride in their work as a lifetime vocation. Not anymore, hard to book, turn up late, are surely, unhappy, even childish in their approach to customers, and act like they’re doing you a favour!!!… however once in a while you, as a customer, strike gold!!! These guys are solid GOLD! Father and son that take their trade seriously, are on time, work the hours required for a top notch job and an amazing finish! Thank you for restoring a little faith in the trades 🙏…

Aren't you meant to use wall ties every 3 courses on 9" or is that optional because they are already stuck together? They do sell the special wall ties 225mm for it though. I know expansion joints are every 12 meters even when it's only 4 ft tall. Just curious. Extra £10 for a pack and barely any more work but makes it much stronger potentially?
