This is a very interesting topic. When I started boxing, I *thought* I'd be a more defensive, counter fighter because that's how I viewed myself at the time. But when I actually started sparring and well in my first fight, I naturally and subconsciously favored a more aggressive yet patient, pressure style where I'd just slowly stalk my opponent into a corner, cutting off the exits. Definitely made me do some reflection as to who I *think* I am vs. who I *actually* am when the pressure is on. I believe that fighting closest to your *true nature* (while making sure you avoid bad habits) will yield the best results because - like Bruce Lee said - it's the purest physical expression of who you are.
U look Kinda forward though, but I'd say it's also has a lot to do with bodytype, I'm layd back myself but I have fast twitch muscles, like explosive sport, and lack endurance, so my game is naturally agressive becaue I want to end it quickly and have dominant positions all the yime to save energy
It is simple, being aggressive in boxing is very simple. Fighting on the back foot requires good technique, great reflexes, IQ and nerves of steel. You are just a beginner in boxing or don't have enough IQ.
@@EkayLaive are you saying you are as good as Inoue? LOL. I was just saying that being aggressive is the easiest style of boxing and comes naturally when you don't want to get punched in your face. All beginners are aggressive. But you just chose to read whatever suited you.

This is a fascinating topic. I feel like the correlation between personality and martial arts is not talked about enough. For example people with a more playful personality like Saenchai tend to have parallels with the way they fight.
Those are the mind games of the sport: convince your opponent that your personality will indicate the way you fight, which gives you an advantage when you surprise them.
Strickland is insanely comfortable in the most chaotic situation possible. I would say that matches with his personality well. He might be one of the few people that actually looks like they live in the cage
Such great advice as always - I struggle with being timid in training sometimes, but once I started competing more and felt the pressure of my MMA and BJJ opponents in real time it made me a bit more focused on inflicting my game on someone else, and not letting them inflict theirs. Not sure if this works for everyone, but similar to what you said about having a quota and goal in each sparring round, I found that if I focused on not falling for the same things as before and improving on things I was semi-good at prior, it made the sessions feel more successful. So glad you have such great advice on your channel!
