    Many videos on this amp but I head first for Damon Chivers, who is always congenial, articulate, and a terrific player. Rock on DC!

    Terrific review as always, Damon... concise, thorough, articulate, well-played, appropriate style for preset chosen, etc. Bravo! Keep 'em coming.

    Got my Mustang 3 this weekend, and it came witht he 2 button footswitch. Thanks for posting this in depth review on the amp and all of its functions. I will be Buying that 4 position footswitch now. It definitely adds functionality to the rig. The tone and volume from this little amp is amazing. I play using a Fender Telecaster Custom FMT HH with Gibson burstbuckers, and the amp provides everything I need to push the sound.

    I commented on this 9 months ago, and you said you were thinking about making a video with this amp and a shoddy junker guitar to see if it would play beautifully. I said I would probably buy one of these if you made that vid and it worked out. Well I guess I have to eat my words because I have one coming in the mail and you never made that vid, but you did make it seem more impressive than most reviews, so good job! You won this time!

    Lastly it comes with a 2 button foot switch to change between the preset your on to the next or back. If you set it up like I did. You could play some Opeth style stuff, like have one clean and shaped to your standards and the other to a distortion and again shaped to your choosing. It's a great amp for the money.

      I have an issue with mine that you can honestly help me with, I need some feedback. Does the volume your's dip/cut out if it's too loud? I have that result with mine, would love to know if it's a common feature or if it's an issue that can be fixed.

    I'm in the U.S., but Damon just sold another amp for Fender. I've been looking for an amp that would get me into the modeling realm, as well as into basic recording, but be large enough for the occasional jam. This amp meets my specs to a "T". Really, really good demo. A bit long, but it gave me the level of detail that facilitated my purchase decision.
    Thanks Nevada Music, and thanks Damon. Great Job!

    The other day I got the mustang III from my local music store. So far I am very impressed. Killer tone and easy operation. I will probably just use the presets. I don't get into the editing. There is enough on here to keep me busy for hours. I have the very first issued cyber twin. I think the mustang blows the cyber twin away. Well done Fender.

    You will know when it sounds good, when the crowd is blown away by your sound. I picked up the 100 Watt Mustange 3, right after it came out. I have use this amp ever since then, at many concerts, night clubs, parties, and events. I use a 1992 Jeff Beck Series purple Strat, with this amp and it kicks ass. What a excellent sound compo these two tools, can produce. I use a old yellow Boss sustain pedal, with a volume pedal, into a wireless system back into the Mustange 3. I love the stock Patch 12, I believe it is a twin reverb compression patch, with reverb. It is perfect for everything from country to metal, using my Boss sustain, for a boost, on the lead solo's. The whole band is using Fender amps, (original Twin Reverbs). But, this little amp keeps up at every gig, and I believe it sounds better then the old amps do. I've been on the road with the Mustange 3, off, and on, for over a year now, with no problems. You cannot beat the price, it is extremely light. I highly recommend this amp for pro's, and beginners. I'm making money with it. Works for me.

      @@mototheroad2566 the Mustang III comes with a 2 button foot switch - to go up and down presets. I strongly recommend you buy the 4 button switch, that is standard with the IV and V, which Fender still carries. I own a III, IV, and V.

    Just seen one of these in my local music shop and they are awsome for the money. I have a crate flexwave halfstack and against this on the clean channel this is better for half the price, I know the flexwave is better for metal but I think this is an awsome amp

    @Igamikun A 'Squier Standard Strat' is the the line of that guitar as the titles In the video state. It's obviously a new instrument so probably made this or last year. I disagree with you as the reason we used a Squier is shows the amp would be a good choice for those upgrading from a basic small practice amp. Also of a similar price to a Squier Standard instrument so the video is not just showing the amp with more expensive guitars but will work well with any priced instrument.

    I was very sceptical about these amps, But I had a modeller for many years, It took me 2 years to really get used to it. I can say the Mustangs are even better!!! You can not go wrong at all! I got the 2 year coverage from Sam Ash also, for peace of mind!!! But the customization possibilities are more than I ever could imagine!

    Excellent demo, Damon. I have owned the III and the V. I am using the Fender Floor now because of the quality. I use a power amp and some combo amps with this pedal and it gives me exactly the sounds you displayed in this video. Good job.

  • @PMTVUK
    @PMTVUK  13 років тому

    @shirakawa2 The volume control is well tapered and it's no problem to get that low play at home volume level that can be tricky with some valve amps which get real loud at about 1. The advantage of a Mustang 3 is that the screen makes editing a breeze and the full size speaker gives it a full size amp sound. Also a few more fx and amps too, so if you can get a few more pennies together then why not treat yourself....

    @MrShredder666 - If you're talking about volume, I own the Mustang IV (150w stereo), and I have never had to turn the volume up past 4 at a gig. IT IS LOUD. I assume the 100w mustang 3 is pretty powerful as well, but I can personally confirm that the IV, with its dual Celestion Seventy-80s, is the loudest combo of its size that I have ever heard.

    ok, i have one, and it doesn't autosave, but you just press a button to save your changes. i would hate if it autosaved; i like to experiment knowing i can still go back to how it was if i want, because that way i don't have to remember everything i changed. you probably won't care for a lot of the presets, which are there to showcase what the amp is capable of if you happen to desire those particular effects. they are based on existing songs and artists and are named accordingly, but if you don't gaf about a certain preset you can just use it to make what you want. there's nothing off limits to any channel you modify as far as what the amp offers. not all the emulations are golden to the trained ear, but you can't complain given this amp's purpose and price point. it is meant to shape shift into almost anything you can come up with. anything.

    I'd love to suggest a demo if you have a chance. I'd love to hear you guys review the Squier Classic Vibe 60's Strat and/or the Tele's that they are putting out. I bought the CV 60's because of how amazing it sounded through the Mustang, and am in love with my mustang and the Classic Vibe

    I highly recommend getting this amp if you're trying to find a quality and affordable gigging amp. The mustang III is $329 but it is so freaking loud, I've never gone past 5 on the master volume. Buy the 4-button footswitch, and combine it the 2-button footswitch (included with the amp) and you have a versatile pedal board. The amp also has an FX loop you can you use for your pedals.

    @thewhorocks524 Some people say that because an amp has fx in it you can't use external fx but thats daft. You can use any pedal in front of the amp just like any other and wah's etc will work just fine, you would want to select a clean amp channel if your using a distortion pedal. There is an fx loop for any fx you would want to use after the amps pre amp just like a regular amp. Its just a matter of selecting the right Mustang sound for the pedals you want to use.

  • @PMTVUK
    @PMTVUK  12 років тому

    Would that be the noise gate cutting in and juddering at the cut off point? Its there to cut off hiss for home users. You could try with it turned off so there is no 'fizz' or judder at the transition point. Could be just the factory default setting. I'll try it in store and see if I can work it out.

    This is very cool amp! Thanks for the great demo! I have tried a Fender Mustang II V2 40-Watt amp, and I was totally impressed by the way it sounded. It was the beefiest and best sounding amp for it's size that I have ever heard. I was planning on getting the Mustang II, but now I'm debating on getting that amp or the Mustang III. For only about $130 more than the Mustang II, the Mustang III sure is a great value. :)

    I've been looking at these amps for a while now, and I am blown away by this demo. Great job! But I have heard mixed reviews about the sound. It sounds great on almost every demo on youtube. I played the mustang 2 once and it also sounded great. But how come some people say these amps are crappy digital amps? Is it just a matter of opinion?

    • @ampcruz2540
      @ampcruz2540 4 роки тому

      Some guitar players feel in their opinion,, that only tube amps sound good ,,,either because the cost difference or because they probably spend a fortune on tube a amps and along comes this 200 dollar SS amp that sounds just as good if not better than their 1000 dollar tube amp ,, so that angers them ,,,,, just my thoughts ok , and although I love tube amps , I also love my mustang too with all of the effects and different amp models to choose from I'm VERY HAPPY WITH MINE !!!

    I've used a VT30 for quite a while now, and recently had a chance to play through the new VT40+ and the Fender Mustang III. Honestly? That new VT40 sux. I dunno what they've done to it, but it sounds nowhere near the previous generation. The Mustang I loved though, some amazing clean tones. Didnt have a chance to plug it to a computer to check all those additional settings, but it was pretty amazing even without it. Yeah, right now it's the best amp for the money, if you ask me. Cheers!

    Hi, I really like this amp from what I've seen on the video, but as I can see, the headphones jack is the same for the Line-out. If I need to plug this amp to a mixer, maybe at a live gig, will it work using that jack with a 1/8 to 1/4 adaptor cable? and will this output mute the speaker?

  • @PMTVUK

    There noise gate is accessed via the advanced amp section on the Fender Fuse software. You can adjust 'Noise Gate Custom Parameters' there. Unusual for so many different amps to have the same fault. Will try it out when I'm back in store tomorrow.

    I borrowed a Mustang III from a friend to play at church because my other amp broke down. We use in-ear monitors with no sound on stage. I just turned the master all the way down. This amp amazed me. The overall sound is very impressive. It takes pedals well. You can play clean by turning guitar volume down, mimicking a tube amp. It cuts through the mix exceptionally well. It is very easy to carry around because it is so lightweight. Fabulous amp. This is the best digital/modeling amp since the Line6 Flextone amps. But it is more versatile and lightweight. Fender hit a home run with this amp. I am going to buy one for myself soon.

    Thanks for posting this vid! It was really in depth and informative. I've been looking for a new amp, and the Fender Mustang 3 looked cool. Your video has solidified my decision to buy this amp. I can't wait to try out the effects and computer software! Oh, and I loved the Dalek joke. :D

    18:26 My audience is always confused, I don't need a ping pong delay for that... lol

      If you can use two different speaker cabs......one on each side of the stage........use the ping pong delay and tell your audience that this is what their brain's sound like rolling around in a box car.

    I heard a jazz instructor...(Rich Severson) use this Mustang 3 amp at a Texas Guitar show...and that's usually a huge room...tons of used guitars. He played a Gibson ES 175 through it, and there wasn't anything that was lacking. I was extremely impressed. (I use a Roland AC 100 Chorus amp) It had plenty of tone.

    Overdrives sometimes naturally hum when they are set too high (gain). I just use a noise gate.

    Does the footswitch allow you to control the 'tap tempo' (delay) in a live situation? I just read a review on MusicRadar (so called professionals) who wrote "Unfortunately, the footswitch doesn't offer Tap Tempo - you'll need to upgrade if you don't want to set it by hand".
    Upgrade what?

    The thing is, the people who are going to buy these things probably haven't actually played 1/4 of the amps this is supposed to sound like. What do you have to compare your modeling experience to, if you haven't really played through any of these amps for real.
    You can get so many sounds out of one decent tube amp, 1 overdrive, 1 eq pedal and 1 guitar.

    I think I am going to buy one tomorrow. Will this be compatible with my Pro Tools recording studio. I am an amateur when it comes to recording and might like what comes with it. You are awesome by the way. *****

    Played one with a. Guy using a blackstar tube amp we both played strats and SRV style heavy blues. The mustang lacked nothing. The presets SUCK! Make your own. The supersonic setting was best for heavy blues and the fender blackface was great for clean precise rythym work. Plenty of gain for metal but the twin and head have the bottom. I like petrucci and lamb of god so l know metal. A huge point for these amps is how QUIET they are on high gain,

    can you for us,
    record it using the DIRECT OUT or the headphone jack like if you were to silent record???

      Yes you can record that way. Nothing beats the sound of a speaker mic'd up though!

    I got question, hope you'll response....I'am choosing modeling amp and I'm gonna decide between Mustang III or Line6 Spider IV...My question is If is this fender able to give me modern high volume sounds, because I'll surely need them and that's what Line6 gives me clearly, but I still love all these classy Fender sounds wich is this amp able to make....but I dont trust this so much about modern (alternative rock/metal) noise in downtuned dropped tunings....What do you think about it?Thanks Matt
