    Hi Jake-
Looking for some advice on this:
    1) I called ATT and unlocked the MR1100 hotspot.
    2) I put in a Cricket Data SIM in the hotspot, changed the APN, and it worked fine.
    3) I then took out the data SIM, changed the IMEI to an unlocked phone that I had lying around.
    4) I got a new SIM (for a cell phone) made from another carrier (GCI) and when I put it in the hotspot and changed the APN, not the Hotspot says that it is locked
    5) I can put that same GCI SIM into the unlocked phone and the phone works, the phone doesn't say that it is locked, but when I put the SIM back in the hotspot it shows up as locked again.
    6) I can put the Cricket Data SIM back into the hotspot, and the hotspot doesn't show locked, but it also doesn't work anymore because the IMEI is no longer a data device.
    Any help is appreciated!

I work for AT&T. There's a way to get an unlimited hotspot for under $35 a month with no discounts. Cheaper still if they have military/first responder/teacher discount. It involves a phantom IMEI number, and a new line added on Premium. Not every AT&T employee knows about it, because it's not exactly policy. But it works.

Have you tried re-writing the IMEI on a Netgear LM1200? The LM1200 seems better suited for use on the Verizon network than the Nighthawk M1 because the M1 lacks band 13 which is Verizon's most prevalent frequency in rural areas. At 700 Mhz, Band 13 frequency has better range and penetration in wooded and obstructed sites than the higher frequency bands that the M1 utilizes for Verizon. A brand new LM1200 is only $149 which is less than half the price of a used Nighthawk M1. I'm interested in learning if you or any of the viewers of this video have been able to alter the IMEI and TTL of an LM1200.

    • @MarkWilliams-ix1qf
      @MarkWilliams-ix1qf 3 роки тому +1

No, I have not tried the LM1200. The older M1 is a combined LTE Modem/WIFI router. The LM1200 is an LTE Modem only and needs an outboard router for WIFI. While the LM1200 has more features, I don't know if the DC unlocker software works on the LM1200. I suspect not, only because the software lists the M1 as a Netgear/Sierra Wireless router, and odds are they used a more modern modem than the Sierra Wireless modem in the older M1. But I could be wrong, you would have to try it. If the modem happens to be from Sierra Wireless, it may have similar software interface and you might be able to change the IMEI. I think you will have to do the experiment yourself.

Hi, we have an M1 and have a plan where we can share a dedicated data SIM, plus the data on our phone plans for a total of 85gigs of data per month. Why not just use hotspotting from our phones.? Because although the iPhone and the M1 can have data speeds of about 270mbs, if we use the phone as a hotspot we only get about 30mbs. These speeds are close to the CBD, Perth, Western Australia and not what we can get when travelling away from the city in country towns or in more remote areas. But, it gives an idea of the possible speeds on a 4g LTE device. There is a new 5G Netgear M5 available here, but the coverage for 5G is still very limited and it’s not worth the extra cost.
Our shared plans are expensive, about AUD120 per month for the three, but our provider has the best coverage for rural and remote areas of Australia.

How about an update? Is it still working good? Anyone else try this? Is this still a viable option in 2023 going into 2024? Thank you! Subscribed!

I have another question, another video said that the router that we picked had to have capability as "bridger" or "rage extender" so that you are able to change your TTL. i looked up the netgear that you use or recommend and I dont see those specs or details on it. Do you know why you were able to change your TTL if it doesnt have those specs. Also, does this has VPN and is it necessary for anything

Help?

I’m reasonably sure that the purpose of switching the IMEI number to identify as a phone is to bypass the throttling issue.

Party pay no more. Visible service went down hill after they quit party pay and changed their service. They want you to sign up for a more expensive service. I'm not going to play their games. The next phone I buy I will drop visible and go with mint. Mint uses T-Mobile networks. Also T-Mobile has a home device that works wherever T-Mobile has cell towers. 73

We use our Weboost mainly at our cabin. Do you know if it is possible to set up either a router or a repeater type system with the Weboost in order to get more distance from the interior antenna?
