Oak Park resarch in Carlow made a trailed fertiliser spreader with three Vicon Hoppers over a belt feeding into a spreading unit at the back . The Idea was N ,P ,K in each hopper and you could increase or decrease the different fertilisers as required on different fields . This was over 50 years ago .

I’ve had 2 fertiliser sowers on my tractor for a few years now for both spreading different fertilisers and increasing capacity instead of using a front weight. Fitted a hydraulic motor to my old spinner for the front.and bought a fresh 2.5 ton spinner for the back. Works really well.

Think instead off those size tractors in fert sower would u not be better with a 100hp and set 800s alot less hashing land with crazy tonnage off tractors

If you already own a 100hp tractor, then you would be better off using that. If you don't, then you use what you have.

Compaction wise atv spreader on 4 wheels and running low pressures one bag at a time is probably 2nd best to the drone with the hopper ontop but they’re painfully slow to use

    • @FarmTheoryNI

We used to do exactly that! 120hp tractor spreading 1t a time at 14m.... It was a nightmare... spent so much time spreading fert. More weight on less area sticking to the same tracks is my compromise to get extra speed spreading.

I have a front seeder and the best thing I did was putting a camera on the front, I used a magnet of a old flashing light to mount the camera and you can put the camera in the tank when spreading. And you have no lights so no sowing in the dark !

Don’t put the fert spinner on the front of the Fergie, put it on the front of any other tractor you care to name but not on that nice Fergie. It would be a travesty. It’s bad enough you have the spinner on the Massey Ferguson at all.

how hard is it to learn the right term? its a spreader. it does not sow. it spreads. you are actually misleading and misinforming people that doe not know this. it makes it sound like you don't know anything about what you are doing and that makes the video bad. try to get this right. if you keep getting this wrong after you yourself pointed out it was wrong it makes it hard to take other things seriously and that's a shame since you make otherwise good content.
