@@XYZip1 I’ll preface by saying I disagree that this would constitute “ homewrecking” because they aren’t married nor do they have kids (as far as we know, at least). But even if it were, he couldn’t be BOTH a failure and homewrecker because being one of those immediately means the other isn’t true (e.g. if he “homewrecked”, then he succeeded and if he failed, then surely he didn’t “homewreck”). That was just a semantic point though - more important point is that it’s okay to tell someone how you feel about them, especially if they aren’t married/don’t have kids (but even then, I’d still say it’s okay because telling someone how you feel is just words… and if a married person decided to leave their family as a result of those words, then clearly that person was not as happy as they should be in that marriage and so perhaps it’s better for it to end).

@@XYZip1 “Succeed at failing” is a nonsensical phrase in this context that doesn’t come close to describing anything I said. If he “home-wrecked” (which again, I don’t think is the case), that would be succeeding at winning over his crush and entering a relationship, NOT succeeding at “failing”. There is no failure in that, even in your world-view where it’s a bad action, it STILL wouldn’t constitute a failure. If his goal is to get the girl, and he gets the girl, he succeeded with respect to his goal. Really simple.
Secondarily, the notion that if you disagree with a point, you won’t take anything else someone says seriously is a truly terrible way to enter a disagreement/dialogue. Every point should stand or fall on its OWN merit. If I make 3 points you disagree with and 2 ones you agree with, it’s possible to acknowledge the both and use all of it to refine your position. That’s the intelligent way to go about it.

I'm in a similar situation with a girl at work when we work together we just spend all day talking I have just the biggest crush in the world on her but she has a boyfriend. She brings him up constantly and it's literally like a dagger in my heart everytime. They sound happy together and that makes me happy but the selfish side of me wants it to be me that makes her happy. Im not looking to be a homewrecker but i cant turn off my feelings and it kills me everyday im not with her. Any advice on this?
What we learned from Jim and Pam is that you should be brave and tell her how you feel. No regrets. If she feels the same way, she'll find a way to end her current relationship. If she doesn't, at least you won't die wondering if you should have told her. Good luck!
You can tell her how you feel but you have to be prepared that she might not feel the same and now you have an awkward work environment. Now, if this isn’t a long term career I say go for it! You can quit in a few months and find a new job. However, if this is your retirement plan I wouldn’t chance it. If you decide not to tell her you need to start distancing yourself and setting boundaries. Don’t be rude just limit the time you’re interacting with her to save yourself the stress and heartbreak.
You're a man.. Control your feelings, it's really not that hard. No point chasing someone who's clearly not even interested in you that way. You're just wasting your time and energy, and feeling sorry for yourself for no reason.

If you are a Pam and Jim? Go for it. But if part of your explanation is that you like someone, but they're happy in a relationship, really focus on the part where they are happy in a relationship. Maybe ask yourself some further questions on your feelings, like when did they start and why?
And don't lie to yourself. That's dumb. But I also acknowledge it's hard not to sometimes.
