Capt.we need to find a sub tender quick "why Lieutenant are we running low on torpedos, food or fuel?"No Skipper, worse than that ,one more convoy and we 'll be out of beer.
The chapters are scrambled and mixed out of sequence. Attack of aircraft carrier makes no sense because the escape is replaced with a random part of the book. This should be for sampling the book only.
My only gripe is that they would have never given this sub commander knowledge of Ultra intercepts as is mentioned early in the book. No one that could possibly be captured was entrusted with that huge secret. Even though the risk was slight a sub commander would be captured and interogated it was still a risk none the less and they would have never taken it. They might have been sent signals derived from Utra intelligence but the intel would have been attributed to other, normal means--aircraft sightings, coast watchers, other subs or ships ect anything and everything except hey we got this via their codes we broke they thought were unbreakable so its solid gold!!
You are awesome for uploading these! I have downloaded part 1 and 2 to my computer, I love submarines and due to my military service I have even been in one! Was looking for a good historical audiobook that I didn't have to pay for, thank you :) I plan on buying it on audible next pay period
Was the submarine you went on a modern one? I caught rides on a couple Los Angeles Class Attack Submarines when I was in the military going here and there doing this and that. I thought they were just amazing machines. The crew tried to scare me the first time I was in one. They tied a very taught string from one side to the other before we dived the first time. By the time we leveled off the string was sagging quite a bit. Didnt scare me but it was very impressive! My experiance made me wish I could have been a submariner, and the food was freakin great too!! Sure beat a cold MRE in a mud hole somewhere, lol
I find this book extremely difficult to follow from at least one aspect: it is not always clear whether the sub is at depth, periscope depth or running on the surface. Another issue is we are apparently joining the book at chapter 7 I think. Finally if the earlier chapters do suggest access to Ultra Decrypts then I agree with another comment here that this would be extremely unlikely, suggesting this book is almost certainly fiction.
It was written by the captain of the submarine uss barb. The stories from other subs are 2nd hand but are likely true. It's reasonable to assume the captains in the sub fleet knew each other and talked during and after the war.
This is the ultimate seminal history of your American Submarine life. 👍📚☘️
I'm here due to Smarter Everyday also!
Who's here from smarter everyday?
🤙
Might as well get smarter every day and night.
🤚
Directly from there.
Jep!
I'm here from Hone and Comb. An audiobook channel that was deleted because he wasn't a communist. I want to finish the story.
Amazing - military dialogue with not one swear word. Just amazing!!!!
It’s been censored by YT dumb&£%s
Admiral Fluckey is my favorite submarine skipper! I love his philosophy, There are no problems, only solutions.
The full version is 15 hours and 27 minutes, these 2 uploads combined are under 3 hours, so I assume that's why this is extremely hard to follow.

Tunny, SS 282, *survived* the bomb attack with severe damage, and served on into Viet Nam

screws : propeller
fish : torpedo
splice the mainbrace : celebratory drinking
You know the typesetter on this book must of been nervous the whole time. One missing L and he'd be out of business.
Underrated comment. Lol
I suppose nowadays they'd just "ctrl+f" fuc* . But yeah that'd be really unfortunate.
This will be shared with my the ex for my sister, who jus retired with Electric Boat, New London, CT. He'll be enthused !

I should call her
Go through jr high with that name, I dare you.
Why do you edit this? A great book that you butchered?
Actually Tang was the most successful not taking anything away from what Barb did.
Yeah, but the Tang sank itself.

Jesus Loves You
This a horrible upload of the book, parts are cut out, it does not follow the actual book.
John Wayne version of reality .... transparently ridiculous
This audio isn’t the same as what my book reads
Not very good writing, is it?
Awful editing...complete waste of time trying to follow...ciao

Does not impart any great drama or a sense of danger. Manufactured dialogue doesn't help.
