Just bought one second hand and am truly having the most fun I've had playing music in a few years time. I'm also building a custom midi-controller with 12 tracks (5 knobs and 1 slider per track), so 72 controls in total. Hyped for when it all comes together. Dream would be to pair it with the T1 torso, but for now this is good. Shi is also super expensive.
Syntakt/ Digitakt/ Octatrack are my Elektron Holy Trinity main setup I do most of my *edit: work on. One bit of criticism I have with the ST is it lacks real meaty acoustic snare smacks. Its packed with infinite variations of cool electronic sounds of all kinds including snares; but I always use DT for real acoustic snares.
Have loved Elektron since i got my md, so many years ago and since then, everyone has always wanted them to do a performance mixer. I am no different. Great jam Joey. You rock.👍.
You can run it as 12 voice mono synth from midi. It’s very versatile, personally I run my rhythm section on there and any free voices I use another sequencer to control the remaining and send PC messages to change the rythm section
Yeah, man, trying to edit a sample based instrument on the MPC is a real pain. So many menus and the locations of things is so weird because they have to keep it backwards compatible with MPCs from years ago. You get a lot in the box, but you're right that it comes at a cost.
it is hard to make the syntakt not sound as a syntakt... and somehow the machine forces you to dig into it to get interesting sounds...i love using it with the rytm and machinedrum...always refreashing to see you push the boundaries
It’s nice to have a channel doing such a good content. I’m trying to figure out what is better for me. An Analog Rytm mkt 2 or the digitakt + the syntak. I need one or the other to create my own drum samples in the studio.. I work a lot with sound design and in the DAW I usually use synth and sample layers to make my own drum sounds. When I say digitakt + syntak it’s because I’m thinking about syncing the MIDI of the two devices and layering the synth (of syntak) with samples (of the digitakt). Example: in digitakt a clap sample and in the syntak a synth model clap. I’m trying to figure out which choice has more sound design power. In the Analog Rytm mkt 2 I can resample… but in the digitakt + syntak it looks like there is a bigger range of sounds for me to tweak and experiment with. What would be your suggestion? Thank you!
There should be a mode where it gets aggressive directly. It is rather tame without analog drive and overdrive. I always need at least 50% overdrive on all tracks and drive set to 0.1.
Nice one, really impressive what you get out of it on the fly. Wish the thing had sample capabilities to add some hard transients to the kick, then it would be the dream groovebox for me. The Elektron BD machines are great, but raw they just can't properly cut through an industrial mix without overdriving them into gabber kick range imo.

I have the dt and st combo and as much as I love the syntakt. Using two units as one kinda sucks. I'd probably get the rytm now after it's update

Try the analog cymbal track for some transient layers . Those are about as close as you can get.
