Oops! I somehow forgot to put the deck construction rules in the video! To build a deck in Kodem you use 15-24 Adendei and 0-1 Rava in the Main Deck 0-4 Ixim and 0-4 Rot Cards in the Equipment Deck 1 Bio and 1-2 Protectors Everything is singleton and you determine the order of the main deck before the game! Sorry about that.
gotta say the concept is quite fresh and pretty interesting. It's just a lot of things to keep track off, the delays and the health mainly as they are unique to each cards and a mistake I imagine would affect the game significantly
Health is easy to track because it's layed out infront of you, delay also, it'll take time getting used to seeing the numbers actually change and not thinking of them in your head.
No shuffling is really interesting... stacking your deck to be "optimal" vs an opponent "optimal" seems cool. But I also think that may lead to bad match ups being reaaaalllly bad match ups taking away some of that variance in play. I could also seem game starting to be a bit tedious as you sit and stack...and going into a bo3 staring at your opponent as yous tack the deck to try and counter theirs sounds wierd NGL. Otherwise some coo stuff for sure. I don't hate the deck stack just feels....wierd
Honestly. I feel like they should just be able to grab any Adendei from the deck. Then shuffle so that the loss of cards from Protectors/Abilities still has some randomness and impact.
I also had those first impressions, but of the 21 cards in the deck, only 12 belong to the main strategy and the other 9 are support or counters for various strategies. Something curious is that as you progress in the game you realize that the order of the cards is the main factor in winning or losing the game. Furthermore, it is not played in the best of three, it is direct elimination.
Hey man, I truly enjoy watching your videos especially when I comes to TCGs I never heard of before. My question is that have you play Battle Spirits Saga and would you talk about it in one of your videos? I love playing BSS, I really hope that it gets more attention than where it is currently. Since the game is a remake of Battle Spirits I tend to play BSS in 2v2 which is really fun.
Right!!? Especially now that we have up 4 sets, a 5th one coming very soon, and an Evangelion collab stater and box. It makes me wonder how is this game not getting more attention.
Hey i remember this game, they asked me to sell this game in my store but i forgot to reply to their message and it got lost in a sea of customers' messages 😢😢
What about instead of that... Starting Cards! You start the game with a few starting cards, 1 or 2, pick any from the deck (or give specifics if too powerful), that way things are still random but players feel like they actually came prepared.
@@wtfox8206In fact, many of the names are not in Spanish, they are a combination of names from various prehispanic cultures. for example "makemura" is the combination of names of two traditional art techniques in Mexico or "HueHue" which comes from the name of a god "huehueteotl" (old god of fire)
So how does the predetermined deck work? Like, do you choose before the game or are there rules? What can go into the deck and how can you change the deck using new cards?
From the absurd words, through the stacked deck, to everything having the same amount of health, so many things about this game feel like someone fed an AI with wikipedia articles aboutn TCG's and hoped for the best...
I can see the art being that, but even if so you got to give props for the AI digging up something interesting to study. I like the optimal deck, but a variety of randomness is fine too. And since the deck isn't that big it would be fine to optimize the deck since it will be hard to shuffle few cards without your senses knowing where each card is. The Jargon might them being completely new and using science stuff. Having the same health beats complexity in my opinion. But having the idea for an AI to help explore new stuff, I wouldn't take everything from it but if something hits home, I'm keeping it, think of the AI a Dreadger digging up the mess that is the TCG mechanics that don't exist or haven't lived up to their full potential. I would let AI right everything though, or else I won't be attached to the creation and it wouldn't be called my child.

Some really cool ideas in this game. As an indie designer, I love to see this stuff. Thanks for supporting the community.

How about this, the main deck is random, but there's also a stacked deck of specific cards. Will that do anything?

Yeah, I need to get better about covering bigger TCGs, I'm too down in the indie weeds - BSS is a pretty cool game!

They would still probably love for you to do so!
Wouldn't it be crazy if the dinosaurs had abilities that interacted with the extinction pile.
Yooo, that would be crazy
Amazing!🤟🏼
Wow No shuffling ever? I mean that saves some time but I can definitely see where it could become a competitive problem.
Yep, no shuffling the main deck. Really depends on how many viable cards/strategies there are if there's a problem or not.

Not a fan of the weird namings Andeidei? Ixem?? ROT ?!??
I think it's because the original language of the game is Spanish.
I don't think those are Spanish words
It's a Mexican card game, the creators are from Mexico.

Adendei? Ixim? Uhm... what!?
Sounds like a password generator made the names.
Either it's a bunch of anagrams or SCIENCE.

Doh, I added a pinned comment with the deck building rules. You determine the order of the deck before the game starts.
