An Aussie here, but if I were a Pommie, then this song is the song that I would happily sing. It gets me right in the feelies. It makes me think of Peter Pan, Paddington Bear, Doctor Doolittle, Biggles and the Green Fields of Dover. And, of course, the wonderful incomparable Kate Bush. Stiff upper lip and Tally Ho!🙂
My memory song. It's a really beautiful song with a special nice vocal of Kate Bush....remember me in 1979, when I was in Germany at that time. Wish you success & all the best for beauty Kate Bush.❤️🌹🌺
My Lady Catherine! Exquisite! How can she make that noise! I used to be able to get there when I was 8 years old but if I even try now I have to go for a wee lie down and am coughing for days.
I was lucky enough to go to her concert in Munich in 1979 with my German girlfriend. She sung this song near the end. Unfortunately it went down like a lead balloon. Only I was the one cheering at the end of the song my gf only clapped politely. Kate saw me and smiled, as we were sitting at the front,
1940's, its clearly inspired by a wartime film about a spitfire pilot heading to his doom probably the one with David Niven she took a lot of inspiration from old films her family enjoyed watching
She said it was her favouite at age 20 on interview of all her work ..but with political correctness over the years it probably is notvpolitically correct these days as england is no longer england. Being islamised and qatar middle owns half of england now. You can even be arrested for carrying a flag
@@janeslater8004 praying that England will come back to the Lion of Judah, the Aslan in Lewis's Narnia and as spoken in the lyrics this song The Shepherd..otherwise the spirit and foundation of England is lost..but it can be turned around. Love this song ❤
Should be able to remove the wow and flutter in the audio due to the tape with software... I was only 8 then, but would have given a lot to have witnessed this!
Hey british folks Kate Bush is one of my biggest loves of my youth. Unbeatable til date. Great artist Great voice. But just don't forget there never lived lions in UK by nature 😉 time of colonialism is over

The last thoughts of a spitfire pilot before he crashes to the ground fantastic lyrics
One of the most beautiful songs ever written.

Wow that's interesting. You mean she didn't sing it well? Here she sings it beautifully.
That made me laugh kind of inappropriate to sing it there as.war.was only over 34 years at that point. Its now 70 years
@@nousername1586no it was because the war was still a sore subject.at that point Remember Hitler was at war with england. This song is about the war
@@janeslater8004 Oh I see ... :)
What a privilege to have seen her then. I saw her in 2014, Before The Dawn show.

She looks like a 1930s film star.

Kate said (later) that this song was embarrassing, but I think it's beautiful, especially referencing the soldiers in verses 1 & 3
Nothing to be ashamed of at all Katherine..it's beautiful xx
