I love how the space marines aren't seen as just powerful soldiers, but as holy figures as well. They're like a tank, a priest, and special operator combined
The probability of seeing a Space Marine are almost 0% if you're a guardsmen, so it's a blessing if you have the luck to fight along side them because you know that maybe you have a chance to live to tell the history.

In my mind it makes total sense to have the Tyranids as the new enemies. They're the only other faction in Warhammer 40k that can give the same horde feel as the Orks did in Space Marine 1

I really like the focus on the Guardsmen. Its easy to forget just how much raw power the Space Marines wield. From the viewpoint of a relatively normal human, the Astartes are demigods.
To say that Astartes are powerful is an understatement, they can stay awake and battle ready for weeks and months, can move and think quickly, can track with their sense of smell, can survive the vaccum of space in a coccon, can go into suspended animation and can gain the memories of anything they eat. They are so strong they see regular humans as Mortals.

Coming back here two years later just to say, this game turned out to be one of the greatest things to happen to the modern gaming industry and has given me the feeling I used to have when playing halo 2/3 and OG CoD MW and, scratches in itch in my skull that Helldivers 2 can’t quite get. The Emperor protects and provides, indeed!
I love the small details that connect with the lore like the Cadian guardsman having violet tinted eyes. It's a tiny detail but really shows the difference between someone who is into 40k and someone who's just making a game.
The original is one of my favourite games from that generation. I was under the impression it didn't sell well so never expected a sequel. This is fantastic news. Please be awesome!
@@maximkislicyn2297 Service studs can represent 10, 50 or 100 years depending on chapter and colour. Gold studs are often 100 years. There are even red studs that mark the astartes has done service on Mars.
@Flare also, the universe is kind of medieval-ish in a lot of things, so them bowing to someone like the space marine is a sign of respect to the authorities, like a knight or man at arm would bow to his king.
What I liked about this is the Guardsmen are not just full on routing running away in panic they are falling back in a orderly fashion. You got guys laying down fire on the swarm so that others can fall back then those guys who fell back get into position to then cover the men who were giving them cover. Or at least that is how it looked.
Cadian shock troops are highly trained and well equipped. The guard gets memed on quite a bit in the 40k community, but lore-wise they're a very competent army.
The best part of this is the bolter, and specifically the bolter pistol. It sounds heavy. It sounds like it would in fact, blow a hole through a 12 foot alien. It does sound like one of the emperors weapons should. Its hard not to fanboy on this trailer, because its so unexpected, and it ticks every box you want ticked.
I would expect the bids to know the power of a space marine. So they just had to make weight the risk benefit from attacking them with the numbers present. But since they are pretty much infinite biomass that can keep being reused it is better to let the marines waste their ammo.
I like how when the space marines show up, the tyranids, who are probably the most feared alien lifeforms in the universe have to back up and consider their chances.

I think this is my favorite depiction of a space marine. I feel like alot of others show them as almost flying around with no real weight but the way their steps thunder especially when passing by the IG in slow mo really gives the feel that these are massive beings that are barely human.
@@karankenZ Yes, Astartes easily rivals this incredible trailer! I think Astartes does a little more stylized animation and shots, e.g. the Marine ramming his combat knife through the psyker's spine is almost like a comic book frame if you pause it.

Aren't Space marines supposed to be able to move really quick even with their armor? While it seems weird that their armor doesn't have weight but keep in mind that it is a power armor. They're often described to be more agile than they look in those suits.
What I like about Titus is his way of thinking, he is capable of so many things because he does and becomes more than what the codex astartes dictates for him
He's like the Qui Gon Gin of Warhammer. He works outside the order using unorthodox tactics to achieve his goals. He understands the rules: but also understands they are rigid, inflexible, and dont apply to every situation.
He is ironically the perfect Marine Rowboat Gorillaman would want. Has a near perfect memory of the codex but prefers to bend the rules in such a way to ensure victory where a textbook approach is far riskier
At 0:29, you can see two Cadians carrying a wounded comrade into safety while under enemy fire. It's little touches like this that make the Guard awesome

My heart literally stopped when I saw the title. Space Marine was one of my fav games ever! I know it wasn't a hit, but for me it just checked so many boxes.
The game was really positively received, and it was meant to be a trilogy. Sadly the company that made the game went under, so every plan for a sequel was lost... Until now.
I never stopped playing Space Marine. Even to this day, I continue to be a proud member of the Steam community. The game truly captured what it meant to be one of the Astartes. Seeing this reveal actually brought a tear to my eye...I never thought they were going to do it. And now I can step into Titus' boots, once again. I'm so excited.

Titus has crossed into the Primaris threshold. I love Primaris Marines, for 2 reasons. They give humanity an edge against the rest of the factions, especially Chaos, and because they resupplied and reinforced my favorite chapter of them all. The Lamenters. My beloved Lamenters.

I am writing this on Sept 9th 2024. I have been playing since sept 5th. It is worth every penny. It is an amazing game and the trailer doesnt even do it justice.
Oh yeah! Best news! The 40k realm has so much potential for games, I know in the past some have been hit and miss. However Space Marine was a lot of fun, hopefully this is the start of a reprisal of 40k themed games, especially for console.
I love how Space Marine was such a power fantasy game: such over-the-top carnage and violence from a single space marine. The Warhammer 40K universe is already over-the-top and beyond realistic, so Captain Titus laying waste in circumstances he would otherwise lose, even in-world, is such a joy to behold. I'm so ecstatic for this sequel.
I like that he only fires these two singluar shots, woven into his sworddance. Titus is using exactly as much violence as needed, not a single boltershot more. He's such unbothered by the Tyranids that they really don't break his cool in the slightest.
Members of the Adeptus Astartes are conditioned from the beginning to show no fear. A normal man might feel despair or fear, but Titus is Astartes. Their post- human state allows them only a rudimentary form of unease.

I think that Space Marines and Warhammer 40K Lore are so popular because they represent the opposite of cosmic horror. In the deep, vast and dark space there are unspeakable horrors watching and waiting to swallow mankind; and we humans, naked, cold, hungry and afraid represent the weakness against immeasurable chaos but like a miracle the power of their will can do the unthinkable, fight back and even win. This what the Astartes represent.
They represent humanities final stand against the coming darkness. A last hurrah, a shout of defiance in the infinite blackness, a bulwark against terror. And in some cases, we ARE that terror.
After playing the game, you realise that this is Titus & Co vs a dozen gaunts and a single warrior, which is a cakewalk for any marine, much less 3 heroes. They really nailed the power fantasy in this game.
That was pretty underwhelming, though. I mean, the trailer is fine, but not especially great, I'd say. It's not meaty enough. Something about the sound direction, I think.
It looks like Titus has his chainsword attached to his arm with some metal chains. Seems like he picked up some tricks from the Black Templars after the last game ended.
Some people have guess that this is 2 additional centuries of active Ultramarine service plus additional years in Death Watch as he would be a perfect candidate to be 'volunteer' into Death Watch's service. Since the ending of last game, Inquisition would keep a close eye on him.
I was never really into Warhammer. But Space Marine was absolutely fantastic. In glad the series is getting what it deserves. There's not much in terms of games like Space Marine. I'm incredibly excited but know it might be a bit until this gets released. I feel like playing the original again now.
That was freaking awesome!!!!! Great attention to detail, the purple eyed Cadian was a great touch. Also I’m so happy to see the return of the main character from the last game, Titus. I never thought I’d want to paint up some primaris marines…. Now I need to make a Titus model lol.
I still think the way that Titus vertically dissects that Tyrannid and then immediately has the quick draw ready is one of the coldest moves ive ever seen. Hard.
Theory/my own headcanon. During the time between SM and SM2, Titus was made to serve in the deathwatch. He was quick to pick up on tactics, strategies, and customs from other chapters, guerilla warfare of the Raven Guard, the Imperial Fists' unbreakable defenses, the Space Wolves' blatant disregard of the codex astartes, the martial prowess of the Black Templars(the chain around his forearm honors a fallen black templar homie from his kill team........EHHHHHH?!?!). This would be a great way of adding new skills/ a skill tree. Upon his return to Ultramar, he was "demoted" since the 3rd company has a current Captain. He chose to cross the rubicon primaris and lead his squad with new found fury.

I want an endless shooting and killing game of warhammer. Also kinda like of effects 3 style of impact system on ending result. Imagine 5-10 space marines or guardsmen with co-op or AI fighting over a world or a system with tyranids campaign then all your decisions or mission affects the ending. Be it Exterminatus, complete loss or hard fought win. Kinda like Space Hulk: Deathwing killing & tyranids with abit spice of Mass Effects 3 ending choice & war.
@@Malakren That will be bad imo. There will be no closure in that game. Maybe a game mode but definitely not campaign of the game. I suggest a Mass Effects 3 style of game where you will do missions & there will be impact on ending scenario where the choices you've made & missions you've done & missed will impact the ending. Wether that ending will be total annihilation of Empirium, Exterminatus because of being overrun by tyranids or Hard won fight but saved the system or planet. That will be epic since you can play the campaign 3 times with different endings.

I like how when the space marines show up, the tyranids, who are probably the most feared alien lifeforms in the universe have to back up and consider their chances.
If I remember correctly, 10 Astartes on a planet gives all planetary invasions pause for thought.

I think this is my favorite depiction of a space marine. I feel like alot of others show them as almost flying around with no real weight but the way their steps thunder especially when passing by the IG in slow mo really gives the feel that these are massive beings that are barely human.

@@karankenZ Yes, Astartes easily rivals this incredible trailer! I think Astartes does a little more stylized animation and shots, e.g. the Marine ramming his combat knife through the psyker's spine is almost like a comic book frame if you pause it.

@@karankenZ Oh i have watched them 15 times before, I love them both. The thing I do like about this one though is you get to see space marine from the eyes of a friendly guardmen not a cultist that they are trying to kill so its more of a sense of awe than mainly terror of astartes.
Aren't Space marines supposed to be able to move really quick even with their armor? While it seems weird that their armor doesn't have weight but keep in mind that it is a power armor. They're often described to be more agile than they look in those suits.
What I like about Titus is his way of thinking, he is capable of so many things because he does and becomes more than what the codex astartes dictates for him
He's like the Qui Gon Gin of Warhammer. He works outside the order using unorthodox tactics to achieve his goals. He understands the rules: but also understands they are rigid, inflexible, and dont apply to every situation.
He is ironically the perfect Marine Rowboat Gorillaman would want. Has a near perfect memory of the codex but prefers to bend the rules in such a way to ensure victory where a textbook approach is far riskier
The way he scans the tyranids when he takes off his helmet, his transhuman mind is making calculations and battle plans in a nanosecond.
At 0:29, you can see two Cadians carrying a wounded comrade into safety while under enemy fire.
It's little touches like this that make the Guard awesome

@@worlds3061 they have the ranged bioweapons, like the maggot launchers (I forget the lore name). Though the lasers we were seeing were probably guardsman off screen firing at the Tyranids.
They managed to capture what a Tyranid invasion actually looks like and that's impressive.

My heart literally stopped when I saw the title. Space Marine was one of my fav games ever! I know it wasn't a hit, but for me it just checked so many boxes.

I never stopped playing Space Marine. Even to this day, I continue to be a proud member of the Steam community. The game truly captured what it meant to be one of the Astartes.
Seeing this reveal actually brought a tear to my eye...I never thought they were going to do it. And now I can step into Titus' boots, once again. I'm so excited.

Titus has crossed into the Primaris threshold. I love Primaris Marines, for 2 reasons. They give humanity an edge against the rest of the factions, especially Chaos, and because they resupplied and reinforced my favorite chapter of them all. The Lamenters. My beloved Lamenters.

Oh yeah! Best news! The 40k realm has so much potential for games, I know in the past some have been hit and miss. However Space Marine was a lot of fun, hopefully this is the start of a reprisal of 40k themed games, especially for console.

2 years later we got more than we wanted.
I love how Space Marine was such a power fantasy game: such over-the-top carnage and violence from a single space marine. The Warhammer 40K universe is already over-the-top and beyond realistic, so Captain Titus laying waste in circumstances he would otherwise lose, even in-world, is such a joy to behold. I'm so ecstatic for this sequel.
The Orks were just a warmup boys and the Chaos were Round one. Now around 2 with the Bugs.

I like that he only fires these two singluar shots, woven into his sworddance. Titus is using exactly as much violence as needed, not a single boltershot more.
He's such unbothered by the Tyranids that they really don't break his cool in the slightest.
Members of the Adeptus Astartes are conditioned from the beginning to show no fear. A normal man might feel despair or fear, but Titus is Astartes. Their post- human state allows them only a rudimentary form of unease.

Well surely a thing like this os usually produced by a team of people, not one. Whether or not he worked on it directly think is a bit too much to assume, but I'd say the Astartes animation has influenced parts of this because I agree that it bears some resemblances to it.

I think that Space Marines and Warhammer 40K Lore are so popular because they represent the opposite of cosmic horror. In the deep, vast and dark space there are unspeakable horrors watching and waiting to swallow mankind; and we humans, naked, cold, hungry and afraid represent the weakness against immeasurable chaos but like a miracle the power of their will can do the unthinkable, fight back and even win. This what the Astartes represent.
Even in our darkest times, we can engineer a big enough gun to fight our way out of it.

After playing the game, you realise that this is Titus & Co vs a dozen gaunts and a single warrior, which is a cakewalk for any marine, much less 3 heroes. They really nailed the power fantasy in this game.
I have a feeling the Astartes are going to feel powerful when controlling them, as it should be, the guys are absolute tanks.

It looks like Titus has his chainsword attached to his arm with some metal chains. Seems like he picked up some tricks from the Black Templars after the last game ended.
Some people have guess that this is 2 additional centuries of active Ultramarine service plus additional years in Death Watch as he would be a perfect candidate to be 'volunteer' into Death Watch's service. Since the ending of last game, Inquisition would keep a close eye on him.

I was never really into Warhammer. But Space Marine was absolutely fantastic. In glad the series is getting what it deserves. There's not much in terms of games like Space Marine. I'm incredibly excited but know it might be a bit until this gets released. I feel like playing the original again now.

I still think the way that Titus vertically dissects that Tyrannid and then immediately has the quick draw ready is one of the coldest moves ive ever seen. Hard.
More companies need to have their trailers show a cinematic AND gameplay.
Theory/my own headcanon. During the time between SM and SM2, Titus was made to serve in the deathwatch. He was quick to pick up on tactics, strategies, and customs from other chapters, guerilla warfare of the Raven Guard, the Imperial Fists' unbreakable defenses, the Space Wolves' blatant disregard of the codex astartes, the martial prowess of the Black Templars(the chain around his forearm honors a fallen black templar homie from his kill team........EHHHHHH?!?!). This would be a great way of adding new skills/ a skill tree. Upon his return to Ultramar, he was "demoted" since the 3rd company has a current Captain. He chose to cross the rubicon primaris and lead his squad with new found fury.

I want an endless shooting and killing game of warhammer. Also kinda like of effects 3 style of impact system on ending result. Imagine 5-10 space marines or guardsmen with co-op or AI fighting over a world or a system with tyranids campaign then all your decisions or mission affects the ending. Be it Exterminatus, complete loss or hard fought win. Kinda like Space Hulk: Deathwing killing & tyranids with abit spice of Mass Effects 3 ending choice & war.

@@Malakren That will be bad imo. There will be no closure in that game. Maybe a game mode but definitely not campaign of the game. I suggest a Mass Effects 3 style of game where you will do missions & there will be impact on ending scenario where the choices you've made & missions you've done & missed will impact the ending. Wether that ending will be total annihilation of Empirium, Exterminatus because of being overrun by tyranids or Hard won fight but saved the system or planet. That will be epic since you can play the campaign 3 times with different endings.
