Personally, this album has always been my favorite. Seulgi chose 28 Reasons because it has a more artistic feel. She knows the song isn’t very public-friendly, but she still chose it to stay true to her vision. She wants to share her artistic side with fans and the public, focusing on something unique to her through the album. I’m glad that so many people love the album.
I was a 100% convinced Wendy biased until I checked out this album. The dark, mature and slightly creepy concept fits her perfectly and finally we got to hear more of what she's capable of vocally. Seulgi could be a main vocalist in almost any other kpop group. The only reason she isn't one in Red Velvet is because Wendy exists and yeah we all agree that she is on another level and deserves it but I'm just happy Seulgi is being appreciated as the strong vocalist she is. Also, I know this comes down to personal preference but I'm really baffled at how many people bash her vocal tone. A nasal tone quality isn't inherently bad or wrong and in her case it makes her voice so unique and recognizable. She doesn't sound like anybody else. She is so talented and I hope she continues to shine.
Yasss! Seulgi is such an amazing vocalist and I love her voice. Wendy, I still feel IMO is one of the greatest vocalists I have ever heard, but Seulgi is legit not that far behind Wendy. Psycho alone proved to me that Seulgi is such a gem. Those whistle notes... Like come on people are deaf if the are bashing her vocals.
@@KPOPCarrie not her vocals per se but her vocal tone. People seem to think that nasal placement = bad singing tecnique. It can be unhealthy if not done properly but it's not Seulgi's case.
It is fire. I may have been harsh in my rating of 8/10. Relistening to a couple of the songs again, I like it a bit more. I would give it a 9/10. I just want more ballads/r&b from seulgi
The performace you watched for dead man running is actually from a special concert in Mexico where she performs multiple songs from this album. Its definitely worth a watch if you love seulgi!
Among all the Red Velvet releases including solos, 28 Reasons and Monster really have me by the neck. Like, it made me realize who much I love the velvet side which Seulgi envisions (yes, aside from her solo, she also proposed the concept for her sub-unit with Irene and goddamn, both those releases are masterpieces). This entire album is basically Seulgi's artwork. If you get to know her a bit more, you'll realize how much 28 Reasons album is very Seulgi-like. Honestly, I am very fond of this release because it's not about the vocals or dance. It's all about art. I came to admire her so much because of her artistry. I've been exposed to art as someone who studies architecture and directly related to some people in the art industry, I'm basically quite an art geek. And Seulgi? She's just so amazing as an artist. Her perception about things is very unique, and she can literally do anything. Her works have the depth and story which a lot of works don't have. It's really just so mesmerizing how much of an artist she is like, she really is born to be one and I'm so glad that even while she's an idol, she still pursues art by incorporating it into her idol life. PS. She performed all of 28 Reasons songs at Kampfest in Mexico except Crown lol She also did solo Bad Boy, Automatic, Look, and Psycho there.
I'll have to check out those performances. Reading these comments make me want to learn more about her so that I can really appreciate this album. I do love that she took an artistic side to her solo project and I am excited to check out the sub unit with Irene
The videos I've seen on YT are of bad quality tho but I think they're kinda okay if you really want to watch it (it was 480p max). I think that for you to actually understand Seulgi's artistic side, you will have to understand how wonderful her mind works by actually reading her interviews and such but I can't really give you specific interviews since I have the memory of a goldfish when it comes to the details of these stuff lol Anyway, you'll rarely see her artistic side when she's with the members (it's just chaos and teasing lmao) so it's much better if you read her solo interview or especially the ones from her solo debut or artbook. As for Aseul, maybe you can expect a lot from Monster. Like, they really complement each other so their chemistry in this release is amazing. Fun fact. Red Velvet was formed for them. They were the fixed members when it was decided that they were making a debut because the management, especially Lee Sooman, was awed by their chemistry when they did Be Natural during their trainee days. That performance basically solidified their debut as a subunit around 7 years later.
this album changed my life!! I love how much seulgi was involved in this album and the dark theme of it! and yeah I agree not many people talk about her vocals a lot but she has my top favorite vocals in red velvet, her background vocals in their songs are some of my favorite parts in the song😭 seulgi is such an ace! even if she wasn’t my bias this would still be my top solo album it’s sooo good😭🥺

One of the best solo albums to ever come out of SM entertainment imo!

Seulgi can be main vocal in any other group for sure.💛
dead man runnin live performance was from her birthday party and i hadn't seen it before. wow, she was giving taemin vibes there
That was her birthday party? Dang to be invited to that and listen & watch her perform that song. LUCKY!!
@@KPOPCarrie It's more of a fan event that you can buy tickets for. All the members put on a birthday party each year!
This album 🔥🔥

Dead Man Runnin' is still my favorite song from Seulgi!!
This song, I can't explain how good it is and how amazing Seulgi sounds on it. I need more songs from her
@@KPOPCarrie That is Wendy's fave from the album too
