I don't know why a seasoned traveller in SEAsia feel indignant and harrassed by a change of regulations which you weren't privy to . If you really wanted to visit Malaysia since you live such a nomadic lifestyle you could have holed up in that border town for 3days,chill out and over you go. Seems like you disliked to pay a fee. It seems to me you just live life and "wing it" as long as you're riding. But in conclusion, all expats ,whether immobile or riding around, have one thing in common, they're not citizens and are subject to the vagaries of the host countries. Now you're going to ride back to Chompon and thump your nose at Malaysia.. do you think they're sorry you're gone? These countries in SEAsia are now focussed on more high value tourists than you .
@consulthai the problem is that I didn't have 3 extra day to spare. I had a certain travel plan. The real problem is that Malaysia is no longer visa exempt. Prior electronic approval means a visa duty in everything except the name. They just don't want to call it what it really is. If you have to apply for approval before you enter,that is tantamount to a visa duty. It doesn't matter if you are a ' high value' tourist or ' low value' tourist. The issue is whether a country is visa free or not. And Malaysia is No longer..

It's a proposal at this stage. It seemed to me that you're quite flexible as to your schedule. I guess I was wrong .
Every country has the right to choose its own immigration rules. I am not angry and I do not dispute it. I am merely talking about the convenience or inconvenience such rules create for travellers. And yes,the EU, US and Australia also have those rules. I do not like them all. They are inconvenient for travellers. And all the countries with such rules should mot brag about having visa free travel. Because these electronic applications are basically visas in disguise...
Well ,not according to the minivan driver at Sadao, and the official website. It states the arrival card must be submitted 3 days prior to arrival ! Or,they are inconsistent in enforcement...

I have been in Malaysia 3 times since this was introduced it takes 2 minutes and you can apply 5 minutes before arriving. Earliest you can apply is 3 days before. Should do some research
