  • At Monday’s middle school assembly, Head of Harvard-Westlake School Jeanne Huybrechts announced the establishment of the George E. & Thuy Moss Endowed Chair of English. Teacher Amanda Angle was announced as the chair’s first recipient.
The chair was established through the generosity of George “Buddy” Moss ’48 and his wife, Thuy. This is the second chair that Buddy has provided to honor an English teacher. Buddy remembers especially the “exacting rigor” of Dr. Leonard Sherman, who chaired the English Department at the Harvard School when Buddy was a student. Dr. Sherman was later named a Harvard Great Teacher.
When making the announcement, Dr. Huybrechts noted that Buddy was a “great friend of the school” who had shown extraordinary generosity with this gift.
There are a total of six endowed chairs at the school. Other recipients are teachers John Corsello, Beverly Feulner, Jeremy Michaelson, Ted Walch, and Head of School Jeanne Huybrechts.
