- The first time I heard this song was @ the fleadh cheoil in Kilrush, Co. Clare in 1963 & the singer was Paddy Breen from Kilmihill. Paddy was also a great flute player who died tragically in London in the early 70's. Go ndéana Dia trocaire ar a anam.
Such an incredible song. I cry every time I hear it. It's as though I'd lived there in a
past life, and miss it terribly.
Singing a song my father PaddynBreen made famous amongst the Irish community, died tragically 42 years ago, its an honour to him, he lived only for music, Irish music was his life, and where ever he is now, he will still be singing and playing those flutes. Xxx
Annette Stocker Indeed Annette...I first heard your Dad singing it at the Kilrush Fleadh in 1963. My uncle knew your Dad in London...Go ndeana Dia trocaire ar a anam dilis...
Thank you so much even after all this time, its great for him to still be acknowledged. Annette
Have you visited Kilmihil...I was born about three miles away..Remember going to learn to play the piano in Kilmihil...but all i wanted to learn was reels & jigs...and she insisted on The Blue Danube...Have you any recordings of your Dad? I know he was recorded for R.T.E. by Ciaran Mac Mathuna...
