Mother Of Roundtables: Four Top Producers With M9 News
For the first time ever on TV or the Web,
Tollywood's most happening Producers came together to M9 News Roundtable 2023.
Watch them speak to M9 News about the Industry after COVID, the challenges, and opportunities in days to come.
M9 News Journalist Nishant asked them about how the industry recovered after the COVID, the changing habits of the audience, how there are no more average films any more, if the industry strike really helped the industry, etc.
"Good films are making big money. Bad films are not making money at all. In the past, we used to make money even if we are careless, but if we are careless these days, we will get caught in the slip," Mythri Movie Makers Y Ravi Shankar said.
About the industry strike, Dil Raju said, "We certainly learned a few things. We came to know where the leakages are but we could not address them. I make a bunch of papers with all those findings and keep them before the team everytime I start a film".
We also asked them about increasing production costs, the OTT crisis that has arrived, and the remunerations of stars becoming too much.
Dil Raju is frank about the falling success percentage in the industry. "We have started concentrated more on business than content. And now, the OTT crisis has happened. We need to get back to the roots and concentrate on the content. Or else, we can not make films," he said.
"We need to talk to our heroes. It is not that they would not understand. Recently, a medium-range hero reduced his remuneration and told he will take remaining of it only if the movie works at the box office. We need to approach each film cautiously and take a film on to sets only if we are confident of the content," Sithara Entertainments Naga Vamsi said.
Dil Raju also says it is not possible to ask a hero or an artist to reduce remunerations. "We can not ask them to reduce their remunerations. Its all about supply and demand. We need to work out on the budget and make films only if they are viable," Dil Raju said.
Mythri Ravi Shankar says, "Our heroes are certainly understandable. If a few of them do not understand, they will understand in a few months".
People Media Factory TG Vishwaprasad has a different say about controlling the wastage.
While other producers say it is difficult to control the wastage even if they know where things are going wrong, he feels otherwise.
"I am actively involving in production in the last two months. I am able to cut down the wastage by 40-50% in certain areas," Vishwa Prasad.
There are many other interesting things like Distributors struggling in AP and Telangana, failure in bringing down the prices of Food and Beverages, Overseas ticket prices, what if Amazon & Netflix directly produce films, etc. Please do watch the Roundtable of M9 News.
