      With 7 year warranty even if you had issues would be repaired on the house. My one arrives next week

      @@SK-tx7rs unfortunately MG always pushes you to the rear of the queue on warranty work and the 7 year warranty is no help if you break down away from an MG service centre as there roadside service does not cover anything major. I found this out through persomal experience when a spark plug burned out and i was told to work it out for myself. If you own an MG3 i recommend putting Irridium spark plugs in as quickly as possible as the spark plugs that MG use are old technology

    A better car than most people seem to expect (considering the money). It’s also the size a super-mini should be. Slowly but surely seem to be seeing more about.

    Had mine 4 days now. The engine is fine, not the fastest, not the slowest, not the best on fuel, not the worst. It is very smooth and quiet however. Lovely steering, and great gearbox feel. Looks great in the ruby red I bought. Suspension is firm, but matches the sporty look. Interior is actually more premium than I thought, and VERY comfortable. My Exclusive Navi is well spec'd, and everything works. Incredible space for a small car. Unfortunately poor wind and tyre noise. Delivery mileage only, and I paid £9750, how can anyone complain at that ?

    • @watchalot919

      @@harmony3395 I have the Exclusive Navi. I bought a pre reg one for £9750. Order the same car from the dealer and it is £13,600. If you are prepared to travel to get it, there are bargains to be had. The range has now changed, and the only two available models are the Excite and the Exclusive Navi. It's far from perfect, but great value for money, and much better than the price would indicate

    • @watchalot919
      @watchalot919 Рік тому +1

      @Vwguy 2020 I sold mine after 18 months. It is a very good car for the money, but you have to remember it is a budget priced car. It is quite comfortable and reasonably refined, so long journeys aren’t a problem. First gear and reverse wine a bit, and the first few hundred yards when it is cold isn't great. The gear box also crunches when put in reverse. If you can live with those few flaws you should be OK

    • @Vwguy-jf9vj
      @Vwguy-jf9vj Рік тому

      @@watchalot919 thank you for your reply :) I’m testing one tomorrow, an Exclusive Nav, I’m concerned about the lack of power that everyone mentions. I’m not a fast driver, but I do like to nip out of junctions quickly and dart about. Hopefully it’s enough. Did you sell for something quicker?

    I just don't understand the moaning about the engine, yes it's slow and can catch you out on a hill if someone pulls out on you but I bought one as a pool car for my boys to drive. It's incredibly cheap to insure for young drivers and I know it's not the sort of engine that would encourage them to "push on". A sensible car to build up the no claims bonus on.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting 5 років тому +4

      Yes, the group four insurance (on the previous model, this one is in group seven) is a real bonus. The reason I bought my wife's car, which is a 2014 model that Matt drove last month, is because she was learning to drive and it was cheap to insure. The lack of torque is an issue if you drive lots of turbocharged cars, but if you haven't even driven anything powerful before, it is far less of a problem, and it is a good car to build up the NCB!

    • @furiousdriving
      @furiousdriving  5 років тому +5

      I just think the chassis is good enough to take a much better engine, and make a proper hot hatch. This engine is great for new drivers and low insurance but others will want more, which it would be capable of giving.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting 5 років тому +4

      @@furiousdriving, yes, the chassis is certainly good enough for more power, hence the 170 bhp supercharged version produced by Knight Industries of Staffordshire!

      This country is full of brand snobs and however you try and dress it up it's no different to the Chinese phone I own ,I got it cheap and it does a job and does it adequately. Chinese MG is at the same place companies like Hyundai were 20 year ago and just need to build a reputation and maybe then build a MG3 i30N

  • @HFStuart
    @HFStuart 3 роки тому +2

    I just got one of these as a courtesy car. Not bad TBH. The steering is actually very nice. It reminds me of a decent late 90's hatch - something like a Mk1 Fiat Punto in many ways (give or take a touchscreen). Clearly built down to a price but not as bland as some. Deserves a better engine. A year old Mazda 2 is probably a better buy but a good effort

    Let's put the performance into perspective...Seat sell an Ibiza 1.0 MPI FR which is alot more than these with a measly 79hp that does 0 to 62 in 14.7 secs...the MG3 would annihilate one of those, and if you've driven a new 1.4 litre 74hp 1.4 litre Corsa one of those too. Perhaps the reviewer needs to drive more low powered, base engine superminis to compare with. In fact...let's get that Tempra SW td he was driving in a drag race with this...the MG3 would wipe the floor with it off the line and I bet stay with it mid range, and the guy kept going on about how good the Tempra's performance was. Let's have some perspective

      Rover technically still “lives on” as the Roewe brand in china, also part of shanghai. For a while they made the original 75 until they moved onto other newer stuff. Apparently the new MG electric estate car due to be sold in the UK is a rebadged Roewe.

    We have the 2016 model of the MG3 LUX and its a great car for the money you get a lot compared to the competition at the time, my only gripe about the car would be road/wheel noise, it could probably be helped with different tyres maybe, also how you keep having to unlock the boot separately even if the cars open, then like mentioned the radio not keeping your audio level to what you last set it too before you turned the car off,again these are all very minor things which at this price point I shouldn't be moaning about lol,Would have been nice if the offered a "Turbo" variant in the 2019 line up as I've seen quite a few people ask about adding a turbo to theirs.

    Intresting points about the engine, Cool Thing with the Engine though it's a Chain Driven. Which I prefer in so many ways, Quite like the Punto Styling at the back as well, The lack of power wouldn't bother me eaither. I really dont get all these cars now boasting a 1 litre 3 cylinder petrol engine but has to have a Turbo to boost the extra power, Surely alot more to go wrong compared to a Naturally Asperated 16 Valve Power unit?
    It's a shame they dont do a 1.6 version of this because I think it would just about be perfect. And as for the Android Auto I dont even have the slightest idea what that even does so it's no huge loss. I am not really for one to have gadgets in cars. I always say, Keep it simple and you will not go far wrong. My most advanced car I proberly have at the moment Is a Daewoo Nexia Glxi auto. Pretty Advanced on Features for 1996 but still Simple enough By today's standards! If you ever fancied doing a Review of it I would be more than happy for you too.

Why would I want to go back to having a phone which after 13 major software versions still restricts what the user can do with their own phone, especially when it comes to file storage / management and the audio / music side of things (ironically what were the two main features of the iPod!)

    MG needs to put the 1 litre 3 cylinder turbo engine in the MG3-you know like the 1 litre 3 cylinder turbo engine in the Ford Fiesta that most reviewers say is gutless and sounds like a bag of nails when pushed hard-mmmmmm that would really improve things

    I just can’t warm to this car even though objectively it’s a good enough car. It’s all to do with that badge that evokes sporting cars, MG, MGB, MGF, even the MG metro/Montego turbos.

      @@advancelast1740 The MG you remember sadly doesn't exist any more. Look past the rose tinted specs and pain of a lost British marque and this is a pretty good car for the money. I'm not ecstatic about adding to the already swollen Chinese economy, but buying British simply isn't an option unless you want a low volume sports car.

    I will be honest, if it was badged as a Morris or maybe an Austin I would love it, it fits as either Morris or Austin, but it surely should not be a MG, I am sorry but when you think of an MG you think of being sporty. That 1.5L engine sounded as horrible as the 1.5L that was in my 86 Hyundai Excel that I had and just like this MG it too could not get out of its own way. Well at least you did a good job on the video and trying to defend this poor little MG. Don't get me wrong its a nice city car that should not have the MG badge on it.

    Sad to see MG ‘now being marketed as this budget car brand now.The Chinese owners don’t seem to know how to market MG they miss the point of that MG was a sports/performance brand if they own the rights to some of the other BL brands why don’t they market the budget end as Austin’s or Morris and have a top of the range MG performance model look at the success that BMW have had with the Mini brand. Also why was there no replacement for the MGF?
