  • Oh My God I Almost boxed this kitchenaid food Processor up and sent it back, when I called customer service they walked me through this 2 minute check and voila it worked, I asked the rep why no one has done a video troubleshooting this and asked if I could do one, she legitimately begged me to do it! It is so frustrating that there wasn’t one video giving clear start up instructions!

if it wasn't for this video i'd be in jail for shooting a unarmed food processor:} I have a model kfp0722 and this vid works for this food processor as well, instructions come in three useless languages i was at my wits end,,and i broke down and read the instructions,, they may as well been in swahili, the book is useless, no where does it show you the two safety switches that have to be made, if it wasn't for the crazed indian house wife,, there would have been a shamed swedish husband who couldn't get his wife's christmas present to work ,and i worked in maintenance for 30 yrs, i'm not that proud to not to get help when i need it , and boy this saved my sanity and brand new mixer

Also note: Like on mine (Kfp1333) the red gasket on the lid loosened from wear and it caused the contacts for the safety switch to not reach when closed. I ended up just taking off the gasket seal and it works every time. New gaskets are $20.

Oh my goodness! I wish I could hug you. I bought an older super heavy processor from an estate sale. After soaking and washing everything I was ready to make tahini. I loaded in the sunflower seeds and press on and the on button lit up but nothing happened. I spent a good 30 minutes changing parts and nothing. Anyway, I googled and chose your video and even though we have completely different processor's it worked for mine. You saved my sanity. Hopefully you can feel the love I'm sending. Thank you so very. much.

Thanks. This helped sort out our issue. For us, the small tab on the lid that engages the safety button had a small piece broken off that we hadn't noticed. As a temp fix, we are just using a small wooden skewer to engage the button, but I hope to figure out a more permanent solution without having to buy new parts. Love the video.

Now I can do all kinds of stuff... Thank you! Forgot to mention that I've had mine for 9 years now... Years later I found this little gem in the dark recesses of my cookware graveyard. Brought it out and couldn't get it to work. Spent several days on it. No luck. Wife said chuck it. I said no. Oh my gosh! I got my food processor 3 or 4 yrs ago and I couldn’t get it to work. It’s been sitting in my garage, to donate. But I never did, because I thought “I can’t donate a broke machine.” I was cleaning my garage and was about to throw it all in the trash (I have all the accessories container) but I wanted to try one more time. I got this processor a few years ago for Christmas and almost returned it then. I can't remember how we came to realize that it actually worked and you just needed to know how to use it but I remember it was involved and frustrating. Anyway, I don't process food very often so when I pulled this out today I knew there was a trick I just couldn't remember what it was. I dont normally comment on posts, but this video saved me a whole lot of aggravation. I too thought, the processor may be dead on arrival and i was most disappointed. Decided to check the internet as i had a similar problem with a small food chopper, so i knew that if i didnt fit the processor properly it would not start. the pencil tip to check the motor I found to be most invaluable and once that was done. When it still wouldnt start I double checked and aligned it as you suggested. I am now ready to chop up a whole lot of cheese. Thanks so much.

Another saved food processor. I am usually VERY GOOD at trouble shooting things like this. I knew to lock the bowl and the top....and I did. What I did not know is that the 'shoot' had to be lined up in the front center to make the lock/saftey mechanism work. The top will lock in other positions, but not run until it is in the front and center. Thank you even though you made this video 3.5 years ago! Hope you are doing well! 😂

We use the processor sparingly. Sometimes it would work, sometimes it wouldn’t. I was aware of the ‘safety switch’ on the base of the processor, but not of the one on the handle. Now we know that the lid has to go on a certain way so that the lid’s tab depresses the handle’s safety switch. Phew!!! A lot easier than taking the processor apart and trouble shooting. Thank You!!!

A year and a half ago I got this brand new food processor, best in the business, I gave up on it because I couldn't get it to work and thought "waste of money" and then my mother figured ot out after talking to customer service. However she didn't tell me before she left to go on holiday and I couldn't reach her so now I wanted to make a cheesecake and was left wondering what to do and you just saved me from selling it and me doing the old hitting cookies in a bag with a rolling pin way.
I guess it would get out my frustration? Still would be left wondering why though. SO many questions as to why! Like why isn't it working? And why am I still wanting to put up with it? And best of all, Why in Gods good name isn't this in the damn manual!? I swear, they need to remake the damn instruction book!
So thank you! Thank you so much for this!

You saved me! I was so frustrated. I was in the middle of making chicken patties. I had prepped everything prior and was ready to grind the chicken. Then I took the pieces of my new processor that was washed to dry. I followed the instructions down to the T and assembled everything together. But it wouldn’t grind! It would not do anything. I worked on it for 1/2 hr and gave up. Went back to my old Ninja processor to finish up my patties. Here I am scrolling they UA-cam and finally after 10 videos came across yours. Oh my gosh you are such a lifesaver. I purchased my processor back in February and shame on me that I'm trying to use it now (April). I was like, "WTHeck, it's broke!" I looked on the receipt and couldn't return it because it was past 30 days. I have read and read the manual repeatedly trying to figure out what was wrong. For two days I was kicking myself for not using it back then. Do you know how long it takes to make cauliflower rice when you have to use a knife? UGH! So I thought, go to UA-cam before throwing it in the trash. First video, no go. They showed me what I was already doing. This video saved it and me. I wasn't locking the lid properly. Good grief! Why was this thing adult-proof? I get it so you don't chop off your fingers but ... GOOD GRIEF! Thank you so much for helping the rest of us!

Thank youuuu! My lovely food processor has been sitting in my cupboard for THREE YEARS since I moved, because I couldn't get it to work after I unpacked it. Used some of my quarantine time to do some always-put-off household errands and decided to see if I could fix it myself. Or rather, myself and UA-cam! I can't wait to start using my Kitchen Aid again! You're the best.

Thank you so much for sharing this information with us. I literally left it in some corner for two years, not knowing why wouldn't it work after trying all possible ways. The manual was of no help then, when I tried to check it again, it started once but then it wasn't turning on at all. When I was checking out instructional videos for assembling the food processor on UA-cam, luckily I found yours. Thanks once again, I felt like either I might be the only one who didn't know how to fix it or I might have brought a nonworking food processor. If I didn't watch your video to fix, it would probably would have been in a corner for another year.

oh my goodness. I knew someone on youtube would have a solution. Unfortunately, mine is not the same brand/model so I can't get mine to stay in contact. My husband said to bury it in the backyard. LOL. I was so frustrated, that you so much for letting me know I am not crazy. I can work a kitchen appliance, but clearly without child safety features! thank you again, I shall keep trying to make the two context.

Thank you! I was just about to return it to target. I got such a good deal on it and it would have sucked if it didn’t even work. We were processing beans 2 minutes after watching this video. Great video! Straight forward and didn’t have to waste my time watching or have to forward through a long explanation.

THANK YOU! After 2 hours on a weekend with no customer service available, I gave up. Texted my husband and said "Remove this from our house. I never want to see it again." I self imposed a "time out", realized I can't be the only one who's ever had issues. Found your video and POW, our giant block of cheese is grated in less than 20 minutes! Thanks for making time to share!
