Never seen a more realistic demon than the makeup artists achieved in this movie…. 30 years later still stands. Will never get over Tim Curry’s performance in that costume.
Yeah, but it's not just the look. Satan says, "Don't you know me, boy!" which was brilliant as a line or "Just, sit and talk" to the girl. It is a rare thing to reveal more about God or Satan or a vampire and to not lose the sense of wonder and power of the entity. Like, Time Bandits did both God and Satan and not bad, but even I have to admit this Satan was the best for a movie even if the movie does not make my top 370 favorite movies list. Or Satan emerging from a mirror. We don't see demons or at least we don't believe those who say they have, but we know per the Bible that demons can enter a person, and so the idea of the mirror from which he first emerges after she has just danced with a figure only to be the figure is great imagery.
@@Lousasshol I hear you, but man, look at Tom... his elfin features, that wild look in his eyes, primal, darting, yet when focused, serene, kind... captivating.
One of the greatest movies ever to come out of the 80’s. This is what made the 80’s so magical and wonderful. Usually these types of movies turned out so cheesy but this movie managed to stay classy and epic. It’s stood the test of time with the design of the set, and costumes that looked so good that it’s still loved today.
I remember going to the movie theater to see this with my mother I must’ve been 7-8 years old and I was in love with this movie and I bought the DVD in early 200’s when my daughter was little and played it for her and she loved it too. All of those childhood movies I grew up on that were filled with magic and adventure and fairies etc etc I bought the DVD and sat with my daughter and watched and she loved them!
The original version could probably be done today. It'll look like CGI Puke but it could be done for sure...I guess. The real question is, would you want them to? Hell no.
This movie really does have very similar qualities both in tone and theme to Tolkien's literature. More generally most religious stories of good vs evil but there's something very Tolkienesque about Legend.
I think anyone from our generation, who were kids in the mid 80's will tell you... this was the scariest versions of the devil ever put out there, just the way the whole movie was filmed, you didnt need a lot of gore or anything. Same thing for Poltergeist and all those kinds of movies.
And Krull...The Beast Master... Flash Gordon, Wow those movie reruns playing on my little black & white tv got me through many lonely weekends in the pre internet era!, I think thats why our generation loves youtube so much! these kids today have no idea what life was like before on demand entertainment!
Did "William Hjortsberg," (who co-wrote "Legend"), get any of the movie 🎬 ideas 💡 from a film called, "Jack & the Giant Killer" (1962)? Plot points 👉 are 1-2-1!!!! Beat fantasy-ROM 💓!!!
For some reason, last week i kept saying Meg Mucklebones in my head, just out of nowhere, and then came home from work calling my daughter Meg Mucklebones. Then i thought, "Hmm, ill pay the great John Candy some tribute by watching his last movie, Wagon's East." Guess who shows up on the screen in no time in Wagon's East? Freakin' Robert Picardo, the actor who played Meg Mucklebones. So strange how things like that happen.
One of my favorite movies. Tim Curry is awesome. I can just about quote this whole movie. I WILL say some of the editing was choppy, and the presentation of Gump looked like it was different film quality. Darkness coming out of the mirror (my favorite) part also looks like a different producer did it. The cinematography, the sound, the picture quality was completely different.
Hey where's Tom Cruise? Does he think because he's really famous he can't show his face in this video? Legend is a great movie and I'm actually watching it now.
I fo not like this childish misspoken and so stupid such as a fairy tale the name of a Drew Barrymore film they should have called this a fantasy movie that is what they should call it I hate this documentary
Just a heads up for those that want to see it, but dont want to buy it yet. Its free with ads on UA-cam. Severely underrated movie. Say what you want about present day tom cruise, but he was amazing in this movie. Everyone was. We just watched this (on UA-cam) with my teenage kids. They loved it. Awesome story. Epic acting. Backdrops and scenery were tremendous. Lengend.

Seen it this year. Loved it.

To say realistic, you must have seen the real thing. When was your first demon encounter, pray tell.
@@socialdef3 lol - fair enough, poor choice of phrase :)
This movie was criminally underrated for years and years.
Still is ,,, this one perhaps will always get the shaft ,,feels like we fans get a gem of our own to just enjoy in the shadows 😅

Tim Curry is far and away the best part of the movie. I wish he'd had more scenes.
Debatable that seduction dancing scene w Mia was 👌I think if anybody the could have replaced Tom cruise w someone better

Tim Curry is my favorite actor. His evil laugh always gives me chills. The makeup in this film is incredible
Legend, Labyrinth and never ending story Great Rainy day watch
And Dark Crystal... 💪🏻❣️🙏🏻
@@tommygarbage237 Perfect! I'd only add Willow!
Tim curry is an epic legend actor...no one else could have played darkness the way he did.
Christopher Lee perhaps, but Tim Curry has that glee, that sass... an evil dream in motion... he truly captured Desire and Darkness on screen
Tim Curry should deserve an Oscar for his character...Darkness the most iconic villain, a true demon.
Great director
Great actors
Great writing
Great cinematography
Great art direction

Love love that movie ❤❤❤
For years after I saw this I truly believed if there is a satan, this is definitely what he looked like. Love Tim Curry.
"You can't have the villan fuck the princess" 😂 I have to read that script now.
Berserk would beg to differ.
Yeah cause number 1 the movie was rated PG, number 2 if he did fuck the princess there wouldn't be a happy ending.
Es una de mis películas favoritas de fantasía,una joya del recuerdo
Si, de acuerdo con tigo. Como un sueno. Pelicula maravillosa.
Now I want to read the original story
X.x need it
this movie literally made my life what it is today
Legendary?

"Hell" no.
A pun?

It could easily be a story about Angmar and a young Aragorn courting Arwyn. (Ya know, Tolkien sure loved himself some A names....)

Childhoods end looks like the Devil in this😳🏴
Rob Bottin is the Bernini of Hollywood
I want to see the original script made today now that it’s possible. It would be an entirely different film.
Yes definitely should be made or be an animated movie ❤
It sounds like the original script would be worth revisiting today.
This movie is still to this day is part of my movie list...right next to Labyrinth.
don't forget never ending story

Are we ever going to get the musical about the spaceship crashing in Jerusalem?
Pretty sure that's Life of Brian or Don't Mess With The Zohan, right?
Very creepy movie, but great masks and costumes and sets.
cuz of the 25 year old porking a 15 year old, right?

This movie scared the shit out of me I didn’t like it at all but I still watch it out of curiosity
Stop being a wuss. Try watching it in day light hours to lessen your fright.
Or invite a friend over so you have a companion.

Rob Bottin said that he thougt some time to include a "Thing" but I find nothing detail about
this movie is my childhood .. also I just realized it's like shrooms trip .. there is no good without the evil
good and evil, love and hate, dawn and dusk... one coin, one dream, one legend... now and forever, teaching us to love for goodness' sake
I love this movie the critics were wrong!
The film had weaknesses but it looked stunning with Goldsmith’s score
I can take it with Goldsmith or Tangerine Dream. If I'm honest, the latter makes it feel even more dreamlike.
Many sleepless nights thanks to Darkness
My favorite movie but definitely not a childrens movie a la Neverending Story or even Labrynth!!🤣🤣🤣🤣
