    Engine looks much prettier and all blingy indeed but in a good way! Love the wire holders!

    Hey Dave, One thing at a time and before you know it you'll be done with that list. Smart! doing short trips, it's normal to find small things to change/fix If you have to pull the valve covers for any reason, when you put them back on, put a very thin layer of silicon on the covers and stick the gasket to them (with the double holes on the top toward the carb). You'll find that they will stay put better and you'll be able to pull the covers when ever you want (let's say so you can adjust your valve or what ever) without having to replace them. I use to run solid lifters and had to adj them every couple of months and doing it this way, a set of rubber gaskets would last a couple of years. If yours leak you can do them then. lol - later

    Those fined valve covers are for early small blocks with a road draft tube also later with oil fill in manifold on front and used cover with hole fof PVC .

    Hey, on the stamped tin valve covers, if they leak [ they never do lol ! ] take a block of wood and a hammer and tap around the edges to tighten up the flange , seems to help after they are mounted.

    Dave ,, I wondered why the wire looms were red on the wish list,,,, now I see they match the distributor cap!!!! As you would say. “Quite posh”!!!!!!!!

    I’ve always liked the old finned corvette valve covers from the 60s. They were good for 10 horse power.

    Looking good Dave, you have to base the air cleaner for the cfm of the carb, otherwise the engine will run to rich and not run correctly.
    Did you know that for every peace of chrome it adds 50hp? Well that what I was told back in high school!

    Hey Dave. There's not a damn thing wrong with the chrome covers. That's a cool tool that you made. I can't put wire holders on my Fargo. My wires are too short. (THE STORY OF MY LIFE)
    Now that you have the safety done, the tinkering will be enjoyable now. Thanks for sharing.🍁👍👍

    Good for you adding a bigger air cleaner. Carburetor like a lot of open air around them. Now the engine can breathe better. Christmas is coming! I have been good and asking Santa for a Snowplow for the 4th year in a row. I know I will get one e eventually even though I only need it one day ever 3 years.

    I have always heard that if you drop your oil on your exhaust pipe, if it sizzles, you have water in your oil. Maybe not?

    Only other thing I can suggest would be a catch can before the carb for the cpvc to keep carb and valves cleaner

    • @ScottRods
      @ScottRods  4 роки тому +2

      Ok, so the oil would drop into the can but the pressure would continue to the pcv?

      @@ScottRods yes ,the oil drops into the can ,car keeps vacuum, just remember to empty the can when needed

    350 engine runs smooth sounds good but at operating temp one side of valve cover is hotter than the other to the touch

    No road test to check for acceleration improvement ? I am truly gobsmacked...

    • @ScottRods
      @ScottRods  4 роки тому

      I did test it, and it's worse. So I'm thinking air/fuel ratio maybe?

    • @TheCanadianBubba
      @TheCanadianBubba 4 роки тому

      Lots to get into there Dave, could be timing, could be lean, could need a bigger shot from the accelerator pump, could be wrong vacuum port or distributor diaphragm (those two can sometimes work opposite, like backwards) you are a great critical thinker and are sure to figure it out Dave.

  • @64C10Claymore
    @64C10Claymore 4 роки тому +2

    when it starts, it sounds like the timing is too advanced.

    • @ScottRods
      @ScottRods  4 роки тому

      I tried changing the timing a few times, it didn't stop that sparking sound. I think my starter is about to go.

    • @TheCanadianBubba
      @TheCanadianBubba 4 роки тому +1

      Over advanced at start-up makes it turn over slow and laboured sounding... it was fine in the last video.
