Sublicotton Transfer Paper For Sublimating Cotton Garments

- Sublimation can only be done on synthetic fibers, such as polyester, nylon, lycr, etc., and hard substrates that have been coated with a polyner. If you attempt to sublimate cotton, as so many people do, your design will wash away. Maybe not immediately, but it will DEFINITELY wash away.
Several years ago, I discovered a product called Sublicotton, which will allow you to sublimate light colored cotton garments. It works fabulously when used correctly. This is my method, which differs from the manufacturers instructions.
350° 20 seconds, med-high pressure
cold peel
20 second repress with non-stick parchment, hot peel.
Care instructions: Wash garments inside out in cold water.
There are several listings to purchase Sublicotton on Ebay. Here is one. I have no affiliation with this seller:

Can I use this on a 50/50 Heather Gray Tshirts???
@@MSNETTA313 yes, but the same rules apply, as far as sublimating onto darker colors. Your image won't be nearly as vibrant as it would be on white.
Thank you so much 😊
I just purchased this and I used your method to press it and it worked, so good. I love this stuff. Thanks so much.
Truly appreciate it just got my package today did a test on my test cotton t-shirt this works great colors are nice vivid now a test wash after 24 hours thanks again 👍☺️
and the outcome of the wash??
thanks in advance
@@magicmanny72 held up well great product and affordable
I have to say THANK YOU very much for sharing this info. I bought the Sublicotton when I watched your video a few days ago. I got it yesterday and tried it today following your instructions and it works amazing!!! I am so excited to be able to sublimate on Cotton!!! Thank you again for all the info!!
🎉💖❤🧡💛💚💜💙🎉
Does this wash off ? Great video
@@Jaden_856
No. It doesn't wash off. Wash inside out. Hang dry.
@@LorraineCastellon-Rowe oh ok thank u
@@Jaden_856 I treat it like a screen print and wash inside out. Hang dry is definitely better, but I don't do that. I just toss it in the dryer, with my other clothes.
That came out great, glad I found your video.
Thank you so much for the information very helpful👏👏🤗
lol man I want your Dollar Tree!! We don't have tank tops!! Great Video! Thanks!
You have to check all the time. They carry different items. I got a bunch of Gildans a few weeks ago. First quality, not seconds.
Ok you should be affiliated because I just got some. Thanks for the video!
Lol. I should just start selling it, myself!
Absolutely Beautiful!
Can you tell me how to prevent cracking when stretching and after being washed?
Stretch it while it's hot. ua-cam.com/video/PLmZYVnMmio/v-deo.htmlm25s
Thank you for this tutorial 👍🏻 but wondering like how many washes can hold and still look good without cracking????
I really don't know. I've used it for a few years and haven't had any problems. I have a LOT of t-shirts, so mine probably get washed every couple of weeks and the ones made with this have held up great. The ones that I made before perfecting my process peeled after just a few washes. Once I got it figured out, they've held up just as well as my vinyl and screened tees.
@@craftymenagerie6191 excellent thank you appreciate it have a wonderful day....!!!
I’m easily confused but I have a question. Would I be printing with standard inkjet in or sublimation ink?
Sublimation
I was crazy looking for this information.
Thanks for this I'm ready to try mine and does this work on dark cotton as well?
They make one for dark, but this one is only for light colors.
Hey good afternoon I’m lost is that for cotton shirts
Yes, it is a sublimation transfer for cotton.
What are your print settings my reds are nowhere near yours. That’s the most vibrant I have ever seen. Love the videos and is there a version for dark colored shirts ?
I use TbTeek ink from Amazon. It's usually less than $20. smile.amazon.com/dp/B07KCN5GQX/ . There is a dark color version of Sublicotton, but I've never tried it, so I can't vouch for how good it works. 🤷🏾♀️
@@craftymenagerie6191 I bought some for dark shirts, it comes with no directions. I think it is horrible unless it is user error. It actually feels like a light rubber. It did not work for me.
@@loislaney23 I'll have to try it some time. I prefer the rubbery feel over the papery, but only if it's thin. Most dark color transfers are too thick to me. I really like HTVront dark transfers, but it's for inkjet, not sublimation.
@@craftymenagerie6191 Yes, please try it, I may not be doing it right.
Ok, I found the directions online somewhere ,, I got it to work, it is not bad, The designs do not seem to be as bright, I do think I will buy it again.
When sublimating on light colour garments like your example red on yellow shirt, do you have to cut out the image? if you do that's a bit tricky isn't it?
You don't "have" to but there will be a clear border. I have a cutting machine (Silhouette) so it's pretty easy to do, if needed.
I'm confused when it says sublimation print....is it any image you create but print on a sublimation printer? Like if I created something on my Silhouette, I can just print with sublimation printer and use this paper for cotton? TIA.
Correct. You use this paper with sublimation ink for light colored cotton.
Does this work on stretchy jersey cotton?
I'm assuming you're talking about a cotton/spandex blend and the only thing I can say is to just try it as I have not used it on that material. I do use it on stretchy t-shirts all the the time though, and it works great. This product is specifically made for 100% cotton, however, yellow and pink shirts that I show at the beginning are a 60/40 cotton-poly blend that I really like to use. They're pretty stretchy, but not spandex stretchy. I would say 95% of the shirts that I've made for myself are this type because I like the fit.
@@craftymenagerie6191 thank you for the reply
I used parchment paper but I guess I brought the wrong one like you did print was completely stuck to it . It said non stick but no where to be found does it say coated . If this is what I need can you tell me am I looking for coated parchment paper non stick? who would carry it and maybe a brand name to look for . Thank you in advance
The Kirkland brand from Costco works, but this is what I'm using in the video: smile.amazon.com/dp/B08M3STRVM/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_dl_R9PWG7V96PFJ6NCCH16J?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
It won't necessarily state that it's coated. If it says it's non-stick, it is coated. Not sure why yours stuck. You can test beforehand. Non-stick parchment is slick and tape won't stick to it. If tape sticks, it's not non-stick.
How many washes before it faded?
🤷🏾♀️ It's permanent so it doesn't really fade much, if at all. Especially if you wash inside out in cold water. I don't because I don't care, but those are the care instructions I give when I use this on something that is being sold or given away. I'm on a well, so my whites get dingy and this is what it looks like now, after more than 1 year, multiple washes in hot or warm water: photos.app.goo.gl/ijWMUWx9aWyZxvX49
Are you using your normal sublimation ink that you've used for poly material or did you move to a special ink for cotton?
The same ink
It's the same ink.
Can this paper be used on any sublimation printer? I have a epson 2720
Yes.
I currently use forever flex 202 and its for cotton and dark colors. But does this product work on dark colors as well??
This is Sublicotton for light colors. They do make one for dark colors, but I have not tried it.
How has that been working for you? Is it expensive? How does it feel on the shirt? I've stuck with Sublicotton for lights because it's inexpensive and feels great. I haven't found anything that I love for darks, yet. 🤷🏾♀️
@@craftymenagerie6191 I love that it works on cotton and all colors but yes it is a bit expensive. It feels a like vinyl with good elasticity .The best thing about it is that it has a clear backing so I use my cameo 4 pro to contour the image before I press onto shirt.
Can you use print and cut with this?
Yes! This is a print and cut: instagram.com/p/CVFFo8elVO9/?
And this: instagram.com/p/COPJ_AInJdI/?
Can I know about the durability of the printed image? And is this same as the paper called "light transfer paper"?
It holds up extremely well when treated like vinyl or screen print. Wash inside out in cold water. It is not the same as regular light transfer paper. This is made specifically for sublimation. Light transfer paper is made for inkjets.
@@craftymenagerie6191 okii thank you ❤️❤️❤️
Did you mirror your image
Yes. I mirror everything, unless you're specifically not supposed to mirror.
What are your paper settings?
Plain paper, bright white.
Is this publication used on light or dark shirts?
This one is for light colors. They make one for dark colors but I've never used it.
Isn't sublicotton just like dark printable starcraft? except more expensive.
No because this isn't for darks and it is significantly less expensive than StarCraft. As I mentioned before, it is for light colors only. They make a dark version but I've never tried it.
Are you using a specific ink ?
Sublimation ink. Any brand.
Can I get a copy of your picture that you printed ?
I like it !!!👍
With your experience using this can this be used on any color?
Only light colors. I've used it on pink, green, yellow, grey and blue.
@@craftymenagerie6191 over at Nockcustoms.com they sell shirts in them colors you can sublimation on. Their shirts feel like cotton. But are 100% polyester. The best part is you can't tell its polyester. Their shirts are GREAT
How do u make the 3g work for u I have used it and I'm still disappointed feels to much like paper on the shirt
I used asub on 100% cotton shirt. And it looked faded.
That's because #1. You can't sublimate directly on cotton. Sublimation ONLY works on synthetics. #2. A-Sub is just regular sublimation paper (special printer paper). Sublimation ink is where the magic is, not the paper. You can literally use regular copy paper for sublimation. It still won't work if you're using the wrong substrate, though. This product works because it's a sublimation *transfer*. Please read the video description for more information.
What is the name of the printer you are using
Epson ET 15000.
Great video is this paper or vinyl and do you have a link for the dark color fabric ?
This is "paper", not vinyl. I have not tried the Sublicotton for dark colors. If you click on the link in the description, that seller also sells the dark color version.
@@craftymenagerie6191 thank you so much truly appreciate it one more question do it hold well under washes?
@@bereal1251 yes, it holds up very well. It's best to wash inside out in cold water, like screen prints and vinyl. (I don't ALWAYS do that, but I should.)
@@craftymenagerie6191 thank you so much I'm learning alot watching your videos keep up the great work
WHAT ABOUT ON A DARK COLORED SHIRT?
This can only be used on light colors. They do make one for dark colors, but I have never used it.
for my dark shirts I use the 3G Opaque paper. I don't follow the heating instructions tho lol. I press it at 401 F for most items, and alter the time settings. It is made to be used with Laser printers and Inkjet printers. Vinyl heat press paper basically. And if you have a cricut printer you can cut away the access. I don't have one at this time, so I do it old school and use an exacto knife lol
@@zootasplace7344 Can you just use a regular image you made on the Silhouette and do print and cut?
@@hscaskey yes, you can do print and cut, if you have a cutter.
I got ripped off. Mine does not have yellow graph
Did you order from the link that I posted? I would contact the seller if I were you.
@@craftymenagerie6191 no but I used your link now.
Ok I got the real stuff. Here I go
Ok. Amazing. You can tell by how it feels like paper not thick. It’s GREAT!! Thank you so much. I need coasted parchment paper but once I get that I’ll be good to go
